Sure the floor boards creak but if you like an old pub with character that is comfortable and well appointed then do yourself a treat and stay here. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great.

The Martinborough Hotel ticks so many boxes - it's definitely our choice for a place to stay when in the Wairarapa. The hotel is located immediately downtown and easy walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shopping. Many winery cellar doors are even within walking distance. This past visit we stayed in a garden superior unit -- which was on the...

We popped in for dinner hoping for anything better than mediocre hotel gastro pub food. Mediocre would have been enough. What we got was a fantastic modern European/ kiwi/ Canadian with Asian influenced menu executed with skill, flair and no little thought. My partner had the smoked lamb rump with oven dried tomato risotto. I had the duck Poutine with...

The hotel has an elegant old timey feel, very charming. Wonderful central location that is a solid base from which to see the local area, go on wine tours, etc. We did the High Tea which my wife loved and I also thought was fun. Our room was a bit small but it was very nice and the deck was...

This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely little town. The rooms are large and well-appointed. The feel of the place is great, really cosy and sophisticated. The books and games are a nice touch. The bed was very comfy and the linen good quality. The only issue was the water pressure was very poor and the toilet did not...

We stayed here as part of a romantic getaway weekend. Highly recommend it for style and ambiance. The restaurant meal was delightful. Try for a garden room if you don't like the sound of the chatter and clatter of evening revelry in town.

We stayed for three nights at the lovely old Martinborough Hotel but in a relatively new Garden room. Lovely quiet location, comfortable bed and nice bathrobes which were so soft. Had dinner in the restaurant three times and were not disappointed. Paddock to plate was evident with fresh NZ fish and my husband loved the delicious rabbit special so much...

Built in 1882 and graced with a wrap around balcony which our room, named Pharazyn, looked out onto, this was a truly beautiful building. Our room was decorated in a French chateau style with blue and cream wall panels, padded headboard, curtains and cushions to match. Wooden floorboards, cream furniture, old fashioned radiators - lovely. Bathroom was through louvred doors...

Lovely location and amazing history as THE PLACE TO GO somewhat brought down by reality. We were there for a wedding which was really well organised and out rooms where at a great rate. BUT, our room while beautiful had a shower head that just did not stay put, also one of the reading light bulbs was gone - little...
