The location of this motel was perfect for us. It was no more than a 10 minute walk to any of the local restaurants, cafes and shops which made going out to dinner a breeze. The motel provided the basics however the amenities were quite dated. The room was quite cold so we kept the heater running most of the time. It was a good option for the price in comparison to other accomodation in the area. The features were everything we needed and the owners were friendly, going out of their way to ensure we had what we needed.

Well, the Motel is the right stay for you if you want a cheap place for the night. The owner is a very nice person and welcomed us very warmly., The room we had was spacious, very clean which was very good, but you can see and smell the age of all in the room itself and the furniture. It all needs renovation.
Overall, "you get what you pay for". 3-star-rating because of the friendlyness of the owner and the cleanness of the room.
The location is good, just a short walk to town square and restaurants.

Colin and Gail are very friendly and hospitable. Our bed was comfortable and the kitchen facility looked to be well-equipped. There is no WiFi, but this can be obtained free of charge from the library, which is two minutes’ walk away. The main square is no more than five minutes’ walk away.

Check in time is 2-6. Don’t show up earlier. Though someone will be in reception, they can’t check you in and won’t bother to see if the room is ready. After 6, no one is at the desk, so don’t forget your key. No a/c. Windows open but no screens. Be prepared to carry your luggage, perhaps up 2 flights of stairs. The heritage room is small with 1 small chair. If you have an included breakfast it doesn’t start til 8:30.

Stayed for one night only. Although Colin and Gail were lovely and friendly and helpful the room that we were in really does need refurbishing. One channel only on the tiny TV and depressing decor. New carpet, redecoration and some bright new curtains and quilts, etc would make a complete difference. Oh, and the noisy fridge and TV need replacing.

My partner and I stayed in a double studio unit with separate bathroom. The room came with a small table and chairs, Queen bed, TV, bar fridge and a heater. The bathroom had a bath, toilet and a sink. The room is very basic but clean and tidy. There were coffee/tea making facilities and we were offered milk at check-in. There was also free soap/shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. The room was $90 for the night, when we were looking at other motels in the area for a room with a private bathroom, the next one up in terms of price was $165 which is a big jump. The motel is great if you're not fussed about staying somewhere basic, and plan to spend most of your time out like we did. The location is fantastic and the staff are really friendly. I've given them 4/5, only because the bar fridge is a bit noisy at night, the cold tap in the bathroom doesn't let much water out, and also it would have been great to have been warned about the volunteer fire station across the road. The siren sounded at about 2am, we had no idea what it was and boy was it loud! If we stay in Martinborough again then this is where we'll stay.

We did not stay here as in the afternoon before check in I called at 4pm to say we would be at 7pm. The host said he had no room available. I had booked and he had taken credit card details saying if I did not call back in 3o mins the booking was binding. However now he said because I didn't call back he had relet. Perhaps a lucky escape.

This was the only motel in Martinborough we could find online and it is one to avoid.
Our studio was small and shabby,a double bed,a large noisy fridge and a tiny table with a couple of chairs. The wardrobe was a few wire hangers on hooks and the 12" portable TV on a high shelf above the fridge could only be viewed by lying on the bed, not that we had much choice of viewing as we only had one chanel. This place was a blast from the past.
Martinborough itself is a place to avoid on a wet February afternoon as most of it was shut.
Obviously the only time it is busy is at weekends when the rich Wellingtonians visit the vineyards.

The staff at the Martinborough motel were the sweetest people. They were extremely friendly, they gave our little girl some finger puppets. The location is less than a block from the town square which is ideal.
