If it's glamour and luxury you're after Ciloms is not for you. It is a very clean and neat budget hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped.  Service is quick and efficient.  Air conditioning works well. Bathrooms are spacious and shower was good,  but we found for our evening showers, the water was running warm then hot, and at one stage even went cold for a moment. Morning shower it was fine.  We had 3 room service meals, they arrived promptly and were delicious.  Really good food!  Any noise in the corridors outside our room was VERY easily heard, others entering their room, talking loudly etc.  Made it hard to have a sleep in. The corridors are very long, and decor is dated, but again,  very clean and neat. If you want to use the lift, it's a long walk to the end of the corridor, better off using the stairs. Some rooms have very unappealing  views over roofs. Location is ideal if you have an early morning flight, very close to the airport, but it feels almost like an industrial area. There is apparently a Chinese restaurant on the same street,  but we preferred to stay in and get room service.  TVs have Foxtel, not Netflix. WiFi worked well, and is very easy to access. Power points are behind the beds,  so you have to move the bed to plug in your phone charger. In the morning we went down at 9 for the buffet breakfast but it was all closed already.  So that was disappointing. Overall I'd say the hotel is fine for a quick overnight stay on a budget.

Upon my arrival in the evening prior to my departure early the next morning I asked the staff about their 24 hour shuttle bus to the airport. I was told that the first shuttle bus was at 2.30 am. My flight was leaving at 5.15 am and the airline stated to be at the airport 3 hours prior to departure. I had rung the hotel previous to booking a room at the airport in the prior months and I was assured that they had a 24 hour shuttle bus. I was flying business class and I had been offered a free chauffeur to get to the airport which I declined due to the availability of a shuttle bus at the hotel. The staff also told me that Tullamarine airport rules are that the hotels are only allowed to drop customers off at the lower level not at the upper level next to departures. I had two suitcases and a cabin bag and I use a walking stick so this was not an option for me. The hotel staff kindly ordered a taxi for me which arrived at 2 am and it was able to take me and my luggage directly to departures on the upper level and all ended well. So anyone in the same situation as me don’t cancel your chauffeur and be aware that the hotel can only drop you off at the lower level at the airport. It would have been great if they had communicated all the above to me prior to my arrival and it would also be good if this was written on their website. I apologize in advance if it is and I failed to see it.

We stayed here twice, once for two nights and then for one night only. On each occasion, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. A free shuttle to the airport means that this is convenient for the city and the airport itself. The rooms are quite comfy, have all the basics including toiletries. It's not the sort of place where you would have a holiday, though. Particularly helpful for us was the facility to leave checked luggage between the two stays so that we could travel, hand luggage only, for a few nights to Tasmania.
The bar and restaurant are more than adequate, with a good selection of food on the buffet - which is very good value. Breakfast is basic, but plentiful. We would certainly stay here again if we were visiting Melbourne.

Spent one night here with my mother who has limited mobility. I requested a room that had an accessible shower with a shower chair. When I checked in the woman on the desk was confused as to why I had requested a shower chair as the room had an accessible shower. I told her that my mother needed something to sit on while she showered which seemed to confuse her even more. When we got in to the room we found that there was a plastic bench screwed in to the wall in the shower but they had also put a plastic folding chair in there, neither of which were entirely suitable as shower chairs. It was near impossible to position the shower head over the plastic bench seat as every time I moved it, it slipped back to the original position. The bottom of the shower curtain was nowhere near the floor & didn't go all the way around so water splashed all over the bathroom floor. Here I was with someone who is already unsteady on her feet & now I have a wet bathroom floor as well. The room was right next to reception so everyone staying on the ground floor had to walk past our room which made it pretty noisy. There was a sliding door which opened onto a small private area but the only view we had was of the building next door & a noisy machine/generator of some sort which went off intermittently. Thankfully it didn't go off during the night. Everything was quite old & rundown & the carpets were quite grubby. I had hired a walking frame & toilet seat raiser for my mother to use while we were in Melbourne & prior to our arrival I asked if it would be alright for us to leave those items at the motel for the hire equipment company to collect & was told that this would be okay. When I was checking out I mentioned this to the woman on the desk (who was the same woman who had checked us in) & it seemed like this was going to be inconvenient. I asked if I could leave them in the room or whether there was somewhere else they needed to go. She tut tutted & said "they'll need to go in our store room!". She handed me a couple of luggage tags which I had to complete & attach to the items & then bring them out to put in the storeroom. At no stage was I offered any assistance. The only positive to our stay here was the proximity to the airport & the beds were quite comfortable although the sheet on my bed had some stains on it. Definitely not somewhere I would stay again but guess it depends on what your needs are.

I would highly recommend not coming to this lodge. Upon entering our room we found it to be very dirty! Stains on sheets, stains on curtains, bathroom left with splatters on the mirror, a strange white powder substance in the sink and overall the room was unclean. I returned a sheet which had a large stain of god knows what. When going to the front counter to talk about the cleanliness of my room a lovely man came to inspect and clean it up a little. He has said he “began feeling like this room hadn’t been cleaned” I asked him to ask about getting another room because I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in a place with dirty sheets because who knows if they even changed them! Was told he would come back and let us know and ended up having to go to the front counter myself. When speaking to the lady at the desk she was very confrontational and rude. When my friend and I had come to ask about seeing if we are getting a room she saw us and said “oh about the jif in the sink” trying to dismiss us. I had explained no it wasn’t just the dirty jif left in the sink and listed my other concerns. she huffed and came to look at the room. She came in had a look and showed me another room not being able to deny the state of our room. she was rude to my friends and when showing me the other room it was dirty!! Again!! Stains and all. She was rude and was becoming aggressive when I had been nothing but polite. We had been there for a few hours and I tell you it’s definitely a place I won’t forget. And not for the good reason. The photos of this place definitely don’t resemble what the rooms or the actual lodge looks like at all! Not worth the money for a ran down, dirty lodge. I wish I could give it negative stars! Stay far away from this place!

I stayed at Ciloms earlier in the week. I had hoped to stay for a relaxing night away from the kids so I booked a spa room.

I checked in, went to my room, unpacked my stuff and filled the spa. I turned it on and out came clumps of hair and whatever else was stuck in the spa jets. When I notified reception, they put me into a different room (it wasn't comparable - no desk space, queen size bed instead of King size). I had to go upstairs but no one offered to help me carry my bags (and I did have a few of them). The room was cleaner than the last one (it still wasn't 100% to my satisfaction) but I wanted to try and enjoy my only night away so I chose to stay.

I was woken by the noise of dogs barking - they had put me on the side of the hotel that is next do the Dog Kennel (a company who does Airport transfers for Pets). The Dogs didn't stop. And whilst this isn't the fault of the Hotel, it's just something to be aware of if you're not wanting to be woken early.

The bed was very uncomfortable and the kettle took a very long time to heat up (they could do with an upgrade). I did use the gym and there were no cleaning wipes around and the treadmill kept slipping but the bike was good.

I requested a refund from the Hotel. They have denied it. I have shown them photos of the clumps of hair and videos of the 'soup' that the Spa looked like after I turned it on. Again, they didn't care. I have suggested to them that in times like we are in at the moment, it's so important to ensure that rooms are clean. I will be making a report to the health department. I have notified management of this. Management have accused me of lying stating that according to housekeeping, the spa was flushed prior to me going in there. I'm not sure what I would have to gain by lying nor do I even have the same colour hair as what I gave them (I took photos and vidoes for them to see but they weren't even a bit concerned).

Hi Stephanie, I’m concerned about the issues you experienced at our hotel during your recent visit. We accommodate many guests each evening, and the principal goal of our hotel is to provide dependable service to each at a reasonable price. Consequently, it’s disappointing to learn you were unhappy. Please accept my sincere apology. The incident was addressed, reception did apologize and your room was changed. Should you have wished for a refund and leave the premises this would have been done but you chose to stay and utilized the facilities in the new room and also requested a late checkout the next morning without charge. For help with luggage you would have only needed to ask. Housekeeping has been notified and assured me that the spa in the room had been flushed and thoroughly cleaned. We take pride in the level of cleanliness in our rooms, and you would have experienced this with the other room you were checked into and enjoyed as per your email. Your request for a refund is not possible as you did stay and did use the facilities, should you have wished for a refund on the night this would have been possible. I’m sorry if this is not the outcome you were hoping for. Management Ciloms Airport Lodge

Rooms are on ground floor just near reception. People coming in and out all evening meant it was very loud.
We booked a shuttle bus to airport at 5am. We got up and waited for the shuttle 4.55am. The driver (aka receptionist) proceeded to fill the bus with one large family and told us we are booked for 5.30am. I told him that is incorrect and we would miss flight. He seemed totally unconcerned. We then waited 25 mins for a $14 dollar taxi. We arrived at flight one minute before closure. I have since contacted the hotel, once by telephone and twice by email for taxi cost reimbursement. No reply.
Poor service, unreliable. Pay the extra and stay at an actual airport hotel that doesn’t involve a shuttle service run by these jokers

Ciloms crew are really good. Just acll and ask for transport and before you know it you are on site! The rooms are clean and anything you may need has been accounted for. Morning crews are no less helpful and you can be sure that if you have an early flight you will be accommodated. Just be aware that the bus stops between the Domestic and international terminals so you beed to know which way to walk to avoid a longer trip than necessary!

I flew in from interstate and chose Ciloms for the proximity to the airport and because they had transport to and from the airport. I called the day before to ensure that there would be no issues with me arriving in the morning well aware that check in is at 02:00pm.
The young lady I spoke to on the Sunday was very helpful and assured me that there would be no issues and if a room was available they could arrange an early check in. I was not bothered as I was being picked up for a day out but thanked her for the offer.
When I arrived at Melbourne airport I rang the number as instructed to be greeted with, "Check in is not until 2."
After a little to and fro the lady said that a driver was on his way and directed me to the pick up ... terrible directions, I got lost and am vision impaired. Fortunately a driver for another motel helped me and I was picked up. The driver from Ciloms was excellent and helped me without any fuss.
Arriving at the reception I was greeted with "Check in is not until 2." I asked if I could maybe leave my bag as I was waiting on a friend to pick me up for a day out and I was well aware of the check in time.
Sitting waiting for my friend I witnessed the same behaviour with any person silly enough to walk in the door, "Check is not until 2."
The facility is very tired looking. It took me three disinfectant pocket wipes to clean the built up dirt from the remote TV control. Everything needed a good clean.
The food at the restaurant was mediocre and overpriced.
Never ever again will I subject myself to this kind of abuse while paying a stupid amount for a dreadful dirty room. No I did not bother complaining as I did not see any point.
I am just hoping to save any other unsuspecting people from being caught.

This large hotel seems to cater especially for groups – for instance, when we stayed, there were a lot of surfers staying to use at the wave pool training centre opposite! We chose it for being near Melbourne Tullamarine airport and appreciated the free shuttle service they offered. One surprise we had when looking out of the window in the morning was to see a herd of kangaroos in the field between the hotel and the motorway! On the Booking.com site it said a cash deposit on arrival of 300AUD was required which would be refunded on departure! Having so much Australian cash on the day we flew out of the country was not what we wanted at all (in any cash the country is basically going cash-less with most transactions being by card these days). We phoned up and they said they would waive the requirement – but it was still a hassle having to contact them to agree to that.

Overnight parking whilst your staying is free. Long term parking after checkout is at $8.00 per day or undercover $14.00 per day. Car parking is charged from checkout to collection inclusive so 10 days would be $80.00. Reservations Ciloms Airport Lodge
