The Royal Lahaina has always been my favorite resort & still is, I sell activity like the luaus, boat trips, helicopter tours & many other things & i always tell people Luau means party in Hawaiian i would always book the Luau here prior to the fire because it is the best most traditional experience & is a party the luau here as the actual traditional underground emu where the pig roast all day till the luau.
Since the fire they have just reopened the luau Tuesdays & Sundays and im so happy be able to start booking it again the royal lahaina has done more for the people of Lahaina then any other resort or company on maui since our horrible fire leveled our perfect little molberry town of Lahaina last Augest the royal Lahaina is always going be at the too of my list for a place to stay on maui. Mahalo you guys!

We really enjoyed our trip and stay at the Royal Lahaina resort. When we arrived they had us in a room with only one King bed but after a short wait they were able to accommodate us to a room with two doubles so we wouldn’t have to change rooms. We really liked that they had filtered water stations where we could fill water bottles every day. Our room was always cleaned every day, stocked perfectly and everyone seemed so accommodating. It was a very friendly resort that I would recommend. Although our trip was a very windy one we did get some beach time and the beach out front of the resort was pristine. The royal trading Post had a few souvenirs and clothes that were reasonably priced where you could also pick up some drinks and snacks. It was a very laid-back and comfortable place to stay. We had a deluxe Oceanview room on the northside which was great. We had a package deal with a food and beverage credit which we didn’t realize until we checked out that the tip portion we put on each receipt was not included in that amount and we had to pay for separately, which would’ve been good to know.

Our family LOVED the deluxe ocean front studio at Royal Lahaina Resort. We stayed in cottage D, which was very peaceful and away from the main building and pools but still easily accessible to the resort amenities. The room was on the 2nd floor with stunning views of the turquoise water and rainbows over Molokai. It looked newly renovated with spa-like décor, comfortable beds, full kitchen, and was double the size (700 sq ft!) of a typical hotel room. Perfect for our family to spread out and lounge around. It was great being able to eat a home cooked breakfast at the dining table and have a full fridge to store all of our leftovers and drinks. Outside the room was a porch with comfy chairs where we watched the sunrise with our morning coffee and stored all of our sandy beach toys and chairs.

We were thankful to be able to walk out of our cottage to get outside without having to take an elevator and walk through the hotel lobby. Our young kids loved to run around the grassy area between the cottages and explore all of the tropical plants and animals. The beach area was empty and it had a gradual slope to the water with relatively calm but fun waves for the kids to play in. We rented beach chairs and boogie boards from the nearby Snorkel Store for a great weekly rental price. Highly recommend Kaanapali Beach for sun drenched days and soft sandy beaches.

The resort location in Kaanapali is wonderful with a quick drive to nearby restaurants, shopping and activities in Lahaina. Since it's not in the main hotel circle with towers of hotel buildings, the resort is more calm, quiet and spacious. The only thing we didn't like about the hotel were the pools, which were small, basic squares and not great for young kids under 6. But we didn't need fancy pools with the amazing beach only a few steps from our room.

We are definitely returning for another family vacation at the Royal Lahaina Resort and staying in the deluxe ocean front studio!

We booked a Deluxe Oceanfront Cottage Room, and was given a 2nd floor unit, with the lanai facing the garden. We were told this room was in the same room category.
Management, please consider re-classifying these units as "oceanview" rooms instead of "oceanfront," with a lower rate. (The upper level room was also visually unappealing and looked bare/lifeless). We were relocated on our second night to a first floor room in Building E.
PROS
Front Desk and bell staff (mahalo!)
Bottom floor unit was clean and tastefully/appropriately furnished.
Building E was farthest from busy areas and the best location! You can hear the surf when you sleep.
Comfortable Beds
Great location on Kaanapali.
CONS:
Room Categories: as mentioned, these need to be re-evaluated. I would be very concerned about staying here again if I cannot be guaranteed an actual oceanfront room on the bottom floor.
Soundproofing: Walls are paper thin. Lanai is separated by decorative screen…you will see and hear your neighbors while sitting in your lanai. We had noisy neighbors throughout our stay. We addressed the first party directly. Next was a family who started their day at 4:30 AM, and we called Security to address them which they did.
Housekeeping: restocking of towels was very strange (maybe you got a full set, maybe you didn’t). Not really a big deal.
No official Quiet Hours: Pool activity begins at 6 AM!

Overall we had a great time here! Some challenges, true. But bring your Aloha spirit and just hang loose!

Our most recent stay was wonderful as always!
The staff always goes above and beyond to ensure we have a relaxing fun stay.
The hotel is navigating the COVId restrictions well. Please note you will need to make reservations for dinner ahead of time which is communicated at the time of check-in. The sunset view from the patio is worth making the reservations!
We decided to go to the Luau this trip, lots of fun. Make reservations for this event early as they are limited capacity and it is selling out. Each party has their own table and the food is setup buffet style with glass patricians to keep food safe & the staff fill the plates for the guests & drinks are flowing. They show was fun!

Rooms are clean and they are back to daily maid service!
We can’t wait to book our next trip!!

Reading general reviews on line in this case was misleading. Although the reviews were mostly positive reading the bad ones was disconcerting. We had the moloki suite and it was Awsome! very nice! well maitained and clean! As for the rest of the resort: the Restaraunt was very good! good timely service and very good food! The resort was actively being maintained every day by multiple crews taking care of ALL aspects of the resort grounds, beach and rooms. Beach was very nice sand and very swimmable with not to big surf. Only cons were the bed and couch are uncomfortable and need to be replaced. and there is no video or smart service on the tv's. Intertnet was good though! no issue streaming movies there... Moloki suite 1235 is the best room on the property as it has two balconies and two different rooms overlooking the ocean from the very top floor! Very happy!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lahaina for our honeymoon and are very appreciative of the room the hotel provided us with the most amazing direct views of the ocean. It was the ideal scenery we were looking to have on our honeymoon. The side of Ka’anapali beach the hotel is on is sooo much more peaceful than on the south end of black rock. We walked to whalers village for dinner one night and the other end is much more “touristy”. Lots of people, shops, etc and a lot more people on the beach. At the Royal Lahaina you can walk straight out of the hotel right onto the beach and easily find a spot to yourself. But the hotel is still a short walk, drive, or even take the trolley to more shops and food.

The room was clean and comfortable. I personally prefer a tad softer mattress but the bed wasn’t uncomfortable by any means.

The food at the hotel restaurant was decent. We enjoyed the breakfast meals the most over the lunch and dinner items. We had the inclusive breakfast package and it is definitely worth it. One of the better inclusive breakfast options I have had and plenty of items to choose from. Which is nice when you are staying for a long time cause most hotels only provide one option meal option for inclusive breakfast and it gets old eating the same thing everyday.

Have to talk about a few cons and one that is expected to come with traveling is the market/gift shop on the property is over priced. All items we noticed are marked up at least $5 from the ABC stores or regular grocery store. So if you can purchase snacks, drinks, etc elsewhere it’ll save you money. Also, My husband went to the shop from the beach for some snacks and forgot his mask in our stuff and they made him purchase a disposable mask. It was only $2 but we felt that is kind of absurd to charge for a mask when we are paying to stay at the resort. We have never encountered somewhere charging for a mask, even the aquarium provided a disposable mask for free.

However the hotel does provide a few water bottle refill stations around the property which saved us some money having to purchase more water bottles and nice to be environmentally conscience.

The rooms have a small fridge but unfortunately no microwave. It appeared as if there was even the perfect spot with a plug from a microwave once upon a time. Because of no microwave the next time we visit Maui we would probably stay elsewhere. However, we really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lahaina and was the perfect first time stay on Maui location for our honeymoon; and the rates really can’t beat all the views, beach access, and charm of the hotel.

We stayed at the Royal Lahaina in late January and had a fantastic time. The location is excellent with great access to the beach without a lot of foot traffic from the other resorts. Customer service was excellent and attentive to our needs. Housekeeping took great care of our room. The resort is older than many on Kaanapali Beach so some things are little worn around the edges. In our room, these included the shower tiles and an uncomfortable mattress. A refrigerator was provided but no microwave which is inconvenient. The poolside restaurant has a great happy hour and excellent views of the ocean. We did not use the pools instead we spent our time on the beach. The pools are on the older side without the new frills found in fancier resort pools. Overall, we loved the Royal Lahaina and we will book there again on our return trips.

We ere here for 2 weeks in February 2020. Great location. NO RESORTS FEES. We constantly choose this resort every time we come to Maui for the location, comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds, friendly helpful staff, no resort fees, value for money. The resort is beachfront on sandy beach (not all of Kaanapali beach is sandy some condos and resorts are on rocky areas or seawalls) the rooms are nicely furnished, beds very comfortable, A/C is great if needed, balconies while not huge offer enough space for 2 chairs and a table to have a drink with a few. We have stayed in a deluxe oceanfront top floor amazing breathtaking views. We have stayed in partial ocean view. Look to the right you can see the ocean, to the left beautiful lush green mountains (depends on which side of the building your on which way you look.) You will not be missing out if you choose one room over the other, although the complete ocean view really is wonderful. Walk out of the building you'll have the same view. The pools are not heated, but very few (maybe 5 resorts have heated pools and those will cost a ridiculous amount of money) on Maui are heated. Restaurant food not my favorite although the flat bread pizza is very good and the hummus plate was my absolute favorite. They didn't have it last February a shame because it really was the best. We enjoy the bar by the pool half of it is outside that is our favorite part it was always easy to get a seat in past visits and this was a favorite way to relax after a full day of exploring. This visit we could never get a seat in was very disappointing it might be all the guests from neighboring condos. We do not spend a lot of time on the resort we are always out swimming and exploring so the the restaurant was not very important to us, but relaxing at the bar is. The Ice cream shop is good. I really liked their little market (alcohol, soft drinks and some food) and apparel shop, I bought a few items of cute clothes there. You can snorkel in front the the resort, but I recommend you walk 7 minutes to Black Rock in front of the Sheraton, another few minute walk past Black Rock and you will be at Whalers Village. You can pick up beach towels by the pool. You can rent beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear and boogie boards at the pool also. We always rent from The Snorkel Store just a 2 min car ride from the resort in a little plaza, You can rent for the entire week what a few days will cost renting from the resort. The staff are very pleasant my husband just loves they say "Welcome home" every time we enter via the front lobby. The resort has a Luau we have never been to theirs. We really love this resort and can't think of another we like nearly as well.

We are repeat visitors to the Royal Lahaina for several reasons. First, the staff is dedicated to making sure your needs are met. This is not a cookie cutter big box resort. It is much more attentive to your needs than the major brands found elsewhere on the beach (where we have stayed in the past). Second, the property has room to spread out and not be on top of each other either around the pool or on their beautiful beach, which is the best on the entire stretch of Kaanapali Beach. Third, there is a true Hawaiian spirit demonstrated by the staff in every aspect from check-in to dining. There is free Hawaiian music every night by the pool. And fourth, the property is well maintained and has done a great job following COVID restrictions-constantly cleaning and regulating traffic in tight areas such as elevators. Over the years, we have stayed in all classes of room here and each have there unique advantages. Most recently we stayed in an Oceanfront tower room and found it to be one of the best views on the island!

It depends on the location. Some areas have high tides and some areas have normal ones.... Keep an eye on the waves. Also it depends on the full moon as well......As far as at the Royal Lahaina resort when i visited the waves were normal and people staying at resort swam in the ocean.

When you check in to the hotel, they will give you a pass to put in your window/dash. If attending the Luau, they will direct you as you approach the guard gate.
