Firstly, we came across this hotel last minute. We’d booked another hotel through Groupon, arrived only to find the hotel was closed. I’d brought my 70 year old Mom with me for a 2 day stay. This was 7.30pm so we had the choice to either drive the 1h 45 minute journey home or go somewhere where else last minute. The Stanneylands, we’re very pleased we found you!

From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. We booked a deluxe twin which for the price, we found was a lovely room. Very clean and spacious. The hotel was also really clean.

They had prepared for COVID-19 and had screens in place, staff wearing visors, one way system, hand gel across the hotel, tables being disinfected after use, even pots for new and used pens. I felt really safe here.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The two ladies serving food, were lovely. They were helpful, friendly and chatty.

Jamie the General Manager deserves a mention because from start to finish, he was unbelievably helpful. He gave us recommendations of where to visit locally and even checked the website to see if there was availability for us. He was so helpful and again really friendly and went out if his way to make sure we had everything we needed.

This hotel would be missed by walkers/hikers or anyone who wants to visit the Peak District. It’s only slightly further than the hotel we normally book into so I’d definitely recommend this hotel. Perhaps the hotel could look at providing packed lunches for walkers/hikers either in a deal or at an extra cost? This could attract a wider range of customers.

I would highly recommend this hotel and want to thank everyone at The Stanneylands for making our stay a lovely one. You will be seeing us again!

I stayed at the Stanneylands when on a business trip to Manchester. The hotel is conveniently located close to Handforth, Wilmslow and Manchester Airport and has ample free parking. It is a traditional stone building set in in small well kept grounds and offers an air of relaxed tranquillity.
Check in was quick and efficient with staff distancing behind a large screen. Breakfast order forms were handed out and time slots for evening meal and breakfast booked at the same time. The completed form was returned to reception by 10pm for the following morning’s breakfast. This system worked well and there was no queueing for a table, or overcrowding in the dining area
Hand sanitiser was placed at common touch points throughout the hotel
The bedroom was spotless and fully equipped with kettle, tea, biscuits as usual, and complementary bottled water was provided. The bed was large and comfortable. Rooms were serviced on a daily basis.
The bathroom was modern with very good shower and a heated towel rail that worked to dry out towels. All the usual toiletries were provided and these were replenished daily.
The only issue with the accommodation is that it lacks air conditioning and as I stayed during the hottest week of the year this rendered sleep difficult, even with the windows fully open. A fan was provided but it’s asthmatic wheezing meant that leaving it on all night was not an option. However this was no different than being at home and for 360 days of the year this would not be an issue
Breakfast was served in the bright and airy bar area restaurant and followed the usual format. A tray was brought to the table with tea, toast, cereal fruit juice etc as per order slip. The cooked breakfast was a standard “full English” though the helpful staff would bring any desired combination of items if asked. A choice of scrambled, poached or fried eggs was offered. Tables were socially distanced and I felt very safe and secure using the restaurant.
I ate in the restaurant one evening from a very good, if shortened menu. I had the battered cod and chips with garden peas. Batter was crisp and not at all oily, chips were thick and beautifully crisp on the outside while remaining soft on the inside and the portion was extremely generous. Very good meal and when I next stay there, I will definitely consider using the restaurant again The bar had a good selection of both draught and bottled beer.
A very nice hotel that offers a relaxed stay and ample free car parking. One of several hotels of similar quality that I use in the area with the choice made on the basis of the best deal on offer when I plan a trip. I will certainly be considering it when I next book a hotel in the area.

I am really impressed by this place. I was recommended a big chain at the airport but prefer to support smaller businesses especially after the pandemic so opted for here. It was less than 10 minutes to the airport but unlike airport hotels was easy to find a running route and we also walked to the nearby village for dinner.

All the staff were excellent, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. A real pleasure to deal with.

The rooms are a bit old fashioned but spotlessly clean, despite the decor being a little dated I couldn’t detect any hint of old smells and it was not worn or bashed at all. The room was quite big, bathroom well fitted with plenty of power in the shower and lovely thick towels. There was a good tv that was enabled for streaming from both Apple and Android devices, kettle and biscuits as well as a couple of bottles of complimentary water.

The bar and restaurants are more modern in their style and equally clean and well looked after. There was plenty of hand gel, screens and a 1-way system for Covid.

Parking was easy and free, I charged my (non-Tesla) car using the Tesla charge points which had plenty of availability.

It was a pleasure to stay here and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

This is a lovely Hotel, a former Manor House I believe and is traditionally styled inside to reflect this. The interior is very smart looking and welcoming. The public areas are spotlessly clean and spacious. Our room was huge and tasteful furnished. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are available in the room. The bed was enormous and filled most of the space, it was very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath and had a selection of complimentary toiletries. I did feel however that our room was a little tired looking, with a few stains on the carpet. Free wifi was available but you could not log in with a password and had to use their guest wifi which was an unsecured network, not ideal, coverage was extremely patchy so I gave up. We only stayed one night on a BB basis and I have to say the breakfast the next day, even though it was a help-yourself hot and cold buffet was absolutely delicious and great value at £10 per head. The staff are all lovely and cannot do enough for you. We just stayed overnight and on the whole I think the hotel gives value for money and we would stay there again if we were in the area.

We visited the hotel a week ago for a late lunch with a large group of friends- approx 20 of us
I had booked in advance and the hotel had kindly arranged for us to have use of a private room which, was perfect as we had tiny toddlers and young children with us. A menu for the small people and hungry big humans, was full of amazing dishes.
I can not recommend the cheese and onion pie highly enough - food fit for a king!
The service was exceptional from friendly happy staff, and in particular Neuan (sorry if spelt incorrectly) could not have done enough for us.
It was certainly the best meal i have had in a long time - from start to finish it was amazing.
Stunning food and service at the reasonable prices. I will certainly go back as soon as we can.

As all businesses are suffering the worst challenges right now, it seems harsh to be too critical but at the same time it feels like we are more aware than ever when it comes to procedures and cleanliness.
Let’s get it straight, I love this hotel. The location, style and quality are perfect for me but my visit was a little soured by a couple of tiny issues.
Soap from a previous guest was left in the shower, social distancing and wearing/constant touching of mask from desk clerk and in room breakfast was far from perfect. All these issues are highlighted by Covid and maybe with time it won’t matter but right now, they do.
Stannylands, you need to up your game in this respect.

We had our wedding at Stanneylands Hotel last Friday and it simply couldn’t have been more perfect. From start to finish the hotel were accommodating of any requests for example, as a winter wedding for the reception immediately after the ceremony, we wanted hot mulled cider and hot chocolate for the children. This was arranged for us and was a gorgeous winter touch for our winter themed wedding.
We had our ceremony at 4pm (twilight wedding) in The Chambers followed by the reception in the Grill room and meal in the State Room. The decoration in each room was beautiful. The extra touches provided by Vanessa such as the white rose petals and scented candles/tea lights really added to the ambience of the theme we were wanting. The Christmas decorations around the whole downstairs area were beautiful.
We understand the hotel is undergoing renovation in the new year to make it more Covid friendly in the event of restrictions again at some point in the future. We can only hope it doesn’t lose its quintessential charm. All our guests loved the building and decor. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
We had previously chosen our colour scheme for the wedding to be teal which fitted perfectly with the teal and gold chairs in the grill room.
The staff could not do enough for us and we could not have wished for a better wedding. They allowed us to drop our Centre pieces off two days before the wedding as the room was not being used and store them at the hotel to save us an extra trip the day before the wedding.
We had a junior suite for 2 nights the night before, and the night of, the wedding. This was beautiful too.
The wedding itself did not cost us a fortune like some weddings can, but I can guarantee the wedding looked like more had been spent on it than it had. The wedding costs are incredibly reasonable at the hotel and for the atmosphere and ambience you get it was perfect for our needs.
We could not recommend Stanneylands highly enough. All the staff are friendly, helpful and approachable.
We can’t wait to book again for our anniversary and see what changes have been made to the hotel.
If you’re thinking of a wedding here I would absolutely say ‘go for it’. You can’t go wrong.

First impressions count and we were impressed from the moment we arrived. This hotel ticked our boxes on every level, great hospitality, comfort, decor, facilities and price.
Starting each day with a super power shower, Temple Spa bathroom products and freshly brewed coffee in my room was the best start to the day. Breakfast was fresh, hot, tasty and plentiful. No complaints for any of us (four friends). Great hotel. Will return

Travelled to stanneylands for a wedding party. Reservation for three rooms was made in July 22 which was very efficient. On check in, it was very simple and we paid on arrival. Our room (202) did seem slightly smaller than the other rooms compared to our other friends rooms , I could suggest more storage space for luggage as we didn’t have much floor space. A lot of the party also found the hotel rooms to be VERY hot, we personally had to turn off the radiator, open the windows and put the fan on. We had quite a difficult night sleep before a wedding day. Breakfast food is very tasty however service was very slow for getting hot drinks and on Monday our food order took 20 minutes. I had to go to the bar so that 10 of us could order our breakfast and a lot of our group didn’t receive their breakfast till 0950, so 20 minutes after breakfast service was finished. When the food arrived it was tasty and was cooked well so not all bad. I would say that a highlight of the weekend was being able to have a night cap when we arrived back at the hotel after the wedding. The night porter was more than happy to serve us and he was very friendly. I would also say that the housekeeping team were very friendly and accommodating when asking when we’d like our rooms to be serviced, another highlight. Overall we paid £200 for 2 nights b&b as part of the wedding party. In the area this is probably good value but I have noted some improvements that could be made. Thank you to all the team for the stay, I’m sorry I couldn’t rate you higher.

Attended a wedding here. The organisation from the staff at the hotel was excellent! The venue where the actual ceremony took place looked amazing, staff ensured everyone arrived at the correct place and were safely seated.
After the ceremony, we attended the wedding breakfast upstairs, the autumn trees around the room looked very appropriate!
Food was excellent even though the main restaurants of the hotel are currently closed.
Breakfast was included in our stay and was plentiful. Continental options laid out and the hot buffet was, indeed, hot.
Staff at Reception really helpful as were housekeeping who changed ALL our bedding when we requested non-feather duvet and pillows. Thank you all so much for a lovely stay.
