Staff are friendly helpful and very welcoming, rooms are beautiful and clean with everything you need for an overnight stay. A great selection for breakfast my husband had a vegetarian cooked breakfast and loved it. If we are in the area again we would definitely go back.

Having stayed in York for 3 nights we made a surprise 1 night stop off to Blackburn to visit friends and booked into this hotel. We were advised booking in was 3 pm but had arrived quicker than expected at 1pm so our room was not ready we asked if we could just drop our bag and the lovely lady said she would check, she returned to advise our room would be ready within 20 mins so we sat down and enjoyed a drink from the bar, within 15 mins we were in our room which was AMAZING and way exceeded our expectations. The room felt like a little world of luxury. The bed was super comfy and the provision of Horlicks galaxy hot chocolate and fresh bottled water were lovely touches. Breakfast was super organised and delicious anybody complaining has to be super fussy we could not fault the service or choice of menu. The best attribute of this little gem is the staff , everybody we encountered was super friendly always happy to chat and smile ensuring that your stay is perfect in every way. We will most definitely return to this little gem but next time for a longer visit as one night was simply not enough

We recently stayed for 2 days. Unfortunately, it got off to a bad start when we arrived after a long drive to discover they didn't have our booking for dinner that evening. I showed them the email conversation with a member of their staff requesting the dinner booking but they just said it hadn't been put on their system and they were fully booked so couldn't accommodate us. No apology, offer of a drink etc. We ended up walking a mile up the road to a nearby pub. The following day we went out all day for a long walk and returned to the hotel about 6pm to discover that no-one had been in to service the room. The bed was still unmade, our morning coffee cups still on the side and the coffee/tea hadn't been replenished. I would understand if they had decided not to offer daily servicing of the rooms due to covid but I would have expected to be told this when we arrived and for someone to explain where we could get top-up tea/coffee etc. We also had some issues with breakfast. The first day our toast never arrived, the second day we requested brown toast and they brought us white. Also, I ordered eggs benedict and the egg yolks weren't runny! To be honest, the breakfast issues wouldn't normally be something we would be bothered about but in the overall picture of our stay, it added up to a generally poor standard of customer service. It was a nice enough hotel and the staff seemed friendly. The room was clean and comfortable but overall we were disappointed with our stay after having read so many excellent reviews before we went

I discovered The Millstone at Mellor during lockdown 2020, and I am delighted that I came across it one day on Tripadvisor. We have since had a number of delicious meals, our latest in June and July. The food has always been top notch, with great presentation and service. I have been impressed throughout the last 18 months as to the team’s attitude to looking after customers. Tables have always been well spaced and you certainly felt ‘safe’ while dining. All of the staff have always been so friendly and chatty too. A great place to dine out!

Just returned from a very enjoyable overnight stay. Great welcome, attentive staff, room very clean, nice to see face masks and hand sanitisers still in place. All staff, very professional who work extremely hard to ensure you have a great stay. Service in restaurant excellent, food superb, best Fillet Steak, I've had in a long time. Big 'thank you' to the staff who cleaned room 31 and very kindly handed in my wristwatch which I'd left behind.
