You definetely dont get what you pay for! We have stayed in cheaper and better places all over the world. The high room rate is shocking for what you actually get,
Rooms are old, holes in the wall, dirty carpet, broken furniture, touch up paint jobs , Tv not working, Wifi not working. No help received after complaining, total ignorance by management. Not sure what the purpose of the hotel or business is, certainly not offering good prices, nice accommodation or at least giving great service - none of the mentionned.
Truthfully, though, we didn't mind that much once we got a look at the place. It advertises itself as being a Swiss "chalet" in the country, but it's actually in town and not very attractive. We fared much better at another hotel down the road, although unfortunately we ended up paying almost twice as much.
The rooms are quite small and very small bathroom. The good part was that the room had a balcony. The staff was co-operative and friendly. The hotel is not expensive, but its quite a trek from train station. However there is a bus stop next to the hotel with buses to Spiez and Interlaken every hour. You probably should drive if you are staying in this town.
We found the Bellerive as we drove south toward Interlaken. We spent several days there and were impressed by the interest and help -- especially linguistically, since our survival French was not helping us and our German consists of three phrases -- one of which is handy for ordering a beer -- shown us by Beat, the gentleman who seemed to be in charge of everything, and seemingly DID everything!
The setting of the hotel is priceless -- the lake to your left, the peaks in every other direction! It is a short and pleasant walk along the lake to Spiez, which is a complete town.
We plan (hope!) to return!
