You definetely dont get what you pay for! We have stayed in cheaper and better places all over the world. The high room rate is shocking for what you actually get,
Rooms are old, holes in the wall, dirty carpet, broken furniture, touch up paint jobs , Tv not working, Wifi not working. No help received after complaining, total ignorance by management. Not sure what the purpose of the hotel or business is, certainly not offering good prices, nice accommodation or at least giving great service - none of the mentionned.

We slept here for 3 hours, after a music festival, so it served its purpose. It's a drab place with old furniture. The bath had a shower with no curtain and with its slanting roof, was ok to stand up in if you're a small child! This "hotel" is terribly neglected, which is a shame because it has potential. The sun blinds on the terrace are torn and dirty. We had no blinds or shutters in the bedroom. The carpet at the top of the stairs wasn't fixed to the floor, could be very dangerous. I could go on. Just generally unloved, shabby and sparse. The welcoming dustbins at the entrance are delightful! The owner should be embarrassed to run an establishment that looks like an 80's youth hostel, and call it a guest house. Breakfast at 15 chf was fairly priced, don't expect much though. I wouldn't recommend this as a holiday hotel, actually I wouldn't recommend it at all!

Faulensee is a pretty little town en route to Interlaken. From outside the Gasthof looked quaint, so my friend and I decided to spend a day here before riding to the mountain passes the following day. The room we got was disappointingly small, cramped and had a bathroom with the luxury of a redneck trailer. My friend and I did manage to find parking for our respective bikes right outside the hotel which could be seen from our balcony. From the balcony, we could get a brilliant view of lake surrounded by mountains. The trail head to Spiez begins only about a hundred meters from this place. We loved walking to Spiez and back despite the intermittent showers. To be fair, the food here was reasonably good, but we ended up having dinner at Strandhotel Seeblick which is right next door and has better WIFI reception than this one. The family or a group of people who run this place spoke Portuguese and seemed like they'd been running only to make ends meet. I say this because I felt that their service lacked passion unlike what I've seen with similar guesthouse owners. In any case, it was only a brief stay and the location mattered most than comfort at that point. I'd recommend that you look for other hotels like Seeblick, better still, stay in Spiez, which has a great view of the lake and more dining options.

We booked this hotel expecting a chalet style hospitality, instead we got the opposite. This hotel combines unprofessionalism with poor and surly service. There is no one at the hotel at reception and they have a front door that does not open (has a broken lock). We got back after a day trip to Jungfrau and at night we could not get into the hotel. (Not our room we could nt get into the hotel itself!) We had kids with us and you can imagine being stuck outside on the road. After an hour or so, we found some guy in a nearby bar who told us that they always had this problem and finally with 2-3 guys we managed to shove and push the door open. The next day one of the owners showed up and was arrogant enough to not apologize but kept insisting there was no problem TO top this, there is an extremely surly and rude woman who provides breakfast. The breakfast is miserly and you are given precisely 1 croissant each. Dont even think of staying here, there is a niver hotel next door with a couple who were helpful when we went over to ask them for help the day we were locked out- Strandhotel Seeblick,. You may want to stay there instead

We arrived at this hotel with our confirmation sheet and number in hand, but the staff informed us that no rooms were available. (This was just after noon, so it wasn't an issue of late arrival.) They were fairly rude and would not even allow us to use the restroom before we looked for another hotel.

Truthfully, though, we didn't mind that much once we got a look at the place. It advertises itself as being a Swiss "chalet" in the country, but it's actually in town and not very attractive. We fared much better at another hotel down the road, although unfortunately we ended up paying almost twice as much.

This hotel should be closed. The owner does everything he can to take your money and doing absolutely nothing in return. AN ORDINARY THIEF. Being an hotel owner requires hospitatlity skills. After mentioning that it is not normal to take a few hundered euro from a customer and doing absolutley nothing in return he start to shout. A very comon tactic for criminal people. I hope he is happy with my € 326

The furniture was scuffed and outdated. The carpet was stained in multiple places. Bathroom floors had dirt in the corners. Shower didn’t drain properly. Towels were stiff and damp. I do not recommend.

The place is located 2 minutes walk from the lake but the building is very old and and dark. The town Faulensee is quite beautiful and calm. Nice place to stroll around the lake. It is quite away from touristy places so quite peaceful.

The rooms are quite small and very small bathroom. The good part was that the room had a balcony. The staff was co-operative and friendly. The hotel is not expensive, but its quite a trek from train station. However there is a bus stop next to the hotel with buses to Spiez and Interlaken every hour. You probably should drive if you are staying in this town.

We initially thought to stay at a previous hotel in Spiez -- a short distance down the lake from Faulensee -- but found that it was closed for renovations in the off-season.
We found the Bellerive as we drove south toward Interlaken. We spent several days there and were impressed by the interest and help -- especially linguistically, since our survival French was not helping us and our German consists of three phrases -- one of which is handy for ordering a beer -- shown us by Beat, the gentleman who seemed to be in charge of everything, and seemingly DID everything!
The setting of the hotel is priceless -- the lake to your left, the peaks in every other direction! It is a short and pleasant walk along the lake to Spiez, which is a complete town.
We plan (hope!) to return!
