HONESTY BEFORE our arrival would’ve been preferable to check in! Our hosts knew the air conditioning on our floor hadn’t worked for a while. A balcony was part of our booking & we travelled across the island for a special occasion. We’d stayed a while pre-COVID19 so confidently looked forward to this visit. We were told there were NO other rooms available as they were “fully booked" BUT we observed during our stay the car park was thinly occupied. A fan had too short a flex to feel its breeze & we were told to keep the curtains drawn to keep out the heat meaning a darkened room with no promised view! I contacted booking.com & the young man was kind & helpful. As we were "on site" he suggested we try again with the manager. Reluctantly & with repeated reference to us having booked (unknown to us) a "standard" room, Gaby took us to another room (having questioned how much we might have disturbed the 1st room). We helped with the swap to ease the situation but it was not well managed & lacked graciousness. The 2nd room had a small high window... truly not as good as popular, large UK hotel chains. It was less attractive, dull & frugal… just 2 teabags per room (though, when requested, we were given more). The dry bathroom floor oozed up water between the grouting when walked on so there’s presumably a puddle of stagnating water underneath. As a result of the chat with booking.com, communications with reception & the move, we were unable to “dress” for dinner. It’s hard to compliment the meal. The pasta main with “green asparagus spears” was so bland & I had to search for 3 tiny lengths of Asparagus!! In 6 weeks on Mallorca this rated as the poorest quality meal across a whole range of dining! We’d hoped to enjoy our stay but it was an endurance of disappointments so we checked out early, not using the pool facility or taking a walk down to the shore as we’d intended. On the few upsides (this time) ...... Location is fantastic which is one reason why we returned there after 2 year COVID break. Views are also beautiful (if you can see them) Breakfast was fresh & attractively presented. Vicente at the evening meal was gracious, attentive, efficient & lovely. Tomeu on reception at check out (and during email contact) was also personable, friendly & helpful. Vicente & Tomeu are assets to the Hoposa in Deia and good ambassadors to the hotel group. Without them our stay (very sadly) would be all negative I'm afraid.…
Nice views of the coastline but staff don't respect the guests. A great shame that the management structure fails to ensure a decent experience for the guests. It has the potential to be so much better...
The hotel has wonderful views - the rooms are basic but clean and the staff are charming but they have a serious problem coping with everyone wanting dinner at about 8.00/8.30 We booked a table for 8.30 - got our starters at 9.30 and by 10.00 when our main courses still hadn’t arrived we had gone past being hungry and left, They need to sharpen up in the kitchen.
Arrived to a complementary glass of cava (they quickly realised I was pregnant and switched it for some delicious fresh orange juice), our room upgraded to a sea view, and a lovely relaxing afternoon by the pool. Room/bed are nice and comfortable, big bathroom, fairly basic, slightly dated. but the view made up for it, as did the friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast in the morning (more cava!) which is all included and we were able to check out but use all the facilities until we unfortunately had to leave. The bar menu for lunch was very nice too, and something for everyone. We went to a nearby Michelin star restaurant for a delicious dinner, again with stunning views of the sun setting. So close to Palma, could make a great weekend getaway destination!
This hotel is the only one in Deia with sea views, with the swimming pool and restaurant overlooking the sunset. There's a steep gravelly path down to the sea about 10 minutes below the hotel with a ladder leading down into the water. The staff are excellent but everything else about this hotel is really average. There's little outdoor space and competition for the sunbeds was intense. . The gym is absolutely tiny with 4 or 5 machines crammed inside. The standard double rooms are very small with cheap furniture and no frills. The bed was comfortable but with just the sheet and a scratchy blanket on it. There were only two sockets in the room and no free water was provided and only small bottles available for purchase. The bathroom was very basic, with a wall mounted Flexi-tube hairdryer and the bargain basement toiletries weren't replaced during a four night stay. This would all be perfectly acceptable except we were paying £250 a night b&b! The breakfast was okay with plenty of choice but none of it was particularly inventive or tasty. Lots of melon and under ripe pineapple but no peaches or cherries which were in season. The snack menu at lunchtime was good with a variety of dishes ; the dinner menu was a little hit and miss. The hotel also isn't in Deià, its a 40 min walk outside on a road with no pavement and no available taxis so you really are stuck there if you want to have a drink at dinner. Top tip - get the bus into Deià from the top of the road to the hotel - it costs 1c on your bank card - and walk back downhill, it takes half an hour. Just use the torch on your phone to warn oncoming cars. Great bars and restaurants - see review of Sebastian's - I wish we'd found it days earlier!…
I just left the Costa D’Or Hotel today and I absolutely loved my week-long stay. The location and hotel is beautiful and I especially enjoyed the pool area overlooking the ocean and the pretty terrace. The Staff were really special - they went above and beyond to be friendly, to help me practice my spanish, to help me book a visit to a winery, and the service they provided at the restaurant was top notch. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was great and had plenty of options. I ate dinner at the hotel every night and it was delicious. As I had rented a car, I appreciated the free parking lot at the hotel (bring a small car as the lot required a few twists and turns that are easily maneuverable with a small car). I’ll definitely be back to this hotel!!
A wonderful choice to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and our first weekend away without children for 16 years. The hotel is so beautiful, with lovely old buildings sympathetically modernised. We stayed in the superior sea view room, which was worth every penny. Waking up on our first morning, after arriving very late the previous night in a thunderstorm, drawing back our curtains to that wonderful view was fabulous! Even the bathroom had a sea view! We dined in the restaurant on three occasions and found the staff to be friendly and welcoming and the food delicious with plenty of choice. This hotel really does deserve every 5 star review.
I stayed here for a week with my family. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was simply delicious with a huge choice . All the staff were very polite and helpful. There are many great restaurants in Deia itself which a very short drive away. I very much hope to return again next year.
We stayed in the Costa D’or last week for 5 nights. We had a fantastic time, the location is amazing, the food is great & the staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. Beautiful property with lovely rooms & amazing views. A particular shout out to Pere & Marina who were very helpful & helped us have a great break. We’ll be back, thanks.
Stayed here for two nights. Absolutely magical location. Room beautiful and staff so helpful and professional. The restaurant was great food and service and not expensive. We walked down through the forest to Gala Deia which was a very scenic walk. Don't miss this bucket list hotel. Very reasonable price.
