Decent hotel, not expensive at all for what it is. Rooms were spotless, staff were really nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine, it was the same every day but there’s enough to choose from that if you stayed for a week you’d only have the same thing a couple of times. Location is perfect, the bus stop to Funchal is directly outside the hotel and only 15 minutes away in the bus. The beach is behind the hotel witch is a 5 minute walk and you can get a cable car down to it instead of hiking 30 minutes down a windy path that winds round and down a cliff. The bar at the bottom is absolutely amazing and the staff were great
Only criticism really is the indoor pool was supposed to be heated but in all fairness the hotel was relatively quiet because it’s November and the energy bill to heat it for the few guests there wouldn’t have been economical

The hotel is all street long, consists of 6 builidings, some buildings have rooms before refurbishing so the they are very Simple, the paint is dirty, the frames of balcony windows scratched and not cosy at all. There is a part that has been renovated and really is 3*but unfortunately any room is a part of a bigger apartment so there is always a door that connects 2 different rooms. You can hear your neighbours. Breakfast is made of poor quality products, scrambled eggs made from powder, tasteless. If the price is the main factor and you're planning to be outdoors most of the time, it could be ok but otherwise it's a survival thing. Woudn't recommend it.

We stayed here for 8 days, the breakfast was always the same, but enough to choose. It's only 15min from Funchal but a rental car is recommended! There's no parking, but on the street it's not expensive. The hotel is nice, fresh linnen and towels when you want and cleaned everyday! The staff are very friendly and helpful! There are 3 pools, amazing in the summer. There is also a beautiful garden, it may look far away when you're staying in block 5,but there's an indoor way to the breakfast etc. The price is worth the visit.

Hello everyone,

We was visiting Madeira with family, and with the kid who was 5 years old, the island is beautiful, but our stay in the hotel was not good at all.

We had bed and breakfast included for 10 nights, breakfast every day was the same, (if you are a vegetarian, this will be a problem) tasteless, coffee, I don’t know , it was like a water with the smell of the coffee.

In the rooms you don’t have wi-fi (this was the first hotel where we been, where was no wi-fi, you have wi-fi only next to reception) in the rooms you didn’t have a kettle and cups, just to drink a simple coffee or tea, we needed to buy it from coffee shops.

When we was booking hotel it was saying that hotel has 4 ⭐️ , when we arrived, next to the doors it was only 3 ⭐️ and when we arrived our rooms was not ready, we needed to wait 2,5h till our rooms will be ready , on the pictures when we was making our booking was kitchen, microwave and everything what you need. But when we arrived, the rooms was empty (we booked 2 rooms) they saw that we was coming with the child, and there was not even a bed for a child, we needed to put 2 beds together to make a bigger bed to sleep, and obviously they was splitting at night when we was sleeping.

Toilet in our room was leaking, every night we needed to close the water in the toilet to not to hear the water at night and in the morning to turn back on.

To wash your clothes, this was the problem as well, for every peace of your clothes, you needed to pay money, for skirt is one price, for dress another.. utt. (Picture of the price list attached) when you have a kid this is not an option at all.

The good thing was that the rooms get cleaned every day, thank you for that.
Swimming pools was nice and clean as well.
Staff was nice, but not all of them.

All overall, I will not recommend this hotel if you are traveling with kids.

Please understand this is a review of a 3 star hotel. My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights.

This hotel is brilliant. The value for money and what we got for that is spot on. All the staff are absolutely lovely. The garden is stunningly beautiful. The indoor pool and bar has what you need. The room is very comfortable, and the bathroom good - shower was great both water pressure and temperature control.

The breakfast was a decent continental affair. Good grub, good coffee machine and 2 juice choices.

I absolutely can't complain about anything from our stay. They let us check out late when my partner came down with D&V (he ate something dodgy elsewhere) and were very understanding about it all. On a birthday day they left us some bubbly in our room too! We enjoyed that by the pool! If we needed anything they would go above and beyond to help. All the people working there are brilliant people.

The only thing I want to warn people about is that there is only WiFi in the "public areas" and not in the rooms.

Well situated Hotel with plenty of shops, restaurants and even a pharmacy within a 1 minute walk. We travelled as 2 adults and 2 children. Check in was easy, we had a large suite on the ground floor with a balcony looking over the back to the beautiful gardens and the sea! We had a double and 2 single beds that were very comfortable, bedding was perfect and the pillows exactly what you would expect for a hotel. We were provided with plenty of towels, shampoo, soap and toilet roll too. There was even a kitchenette with fridge, air con, 2 wardrobes, 2 televisions, dining table and 4 chairs and 2 desks. Hair dryer also in the room. We had a comfortable stay and hired a car from their site which was actually the best deal we could find with a reasonable excess. We had breakfast included. There was a variety of breads, rolls, fresh fruit and salad, pastries, yogurts, hams, cheese, juices, coffee, jams, honey, scrambled eggs, sausages and beans (and I'm probably missing some of it out). All in all we had an amazing stay, with zero complaints. They even safely stored our luggage after we checked out on our last day.

I’ve given it 5 stars because it was so cheap. We paid £250 for a week including flights! The rooms are spotless, good shower en-suite. No tea and coffee making facilities or anything other than breakfast available at the hotel due to Covid but there are some very reasonable cafes and restaurants across the road. We found these very good - the fresh orange juice was heavenly. Walls are thin so sometimes you can hear people noise from other rooms but it was always quiet by 11. The breakfast was the same every day which got monotonous. Sparse on the fruit and cereal which is strange when there is so much in the shops? However you can supplement this from the supermarkets across the road. Pool and gardens beautiful. Bus stops outside for Funchal €2.20 where there is everything. Generally very quiet and peaceful. Everywhere is so clean in Madeira.

Don’t like to leave bad reviews but this time it’s needed!!!! Super unhappy with hotel one of the worst experiences. Family’s with kids we recommend to confirm with hotel if they provide bed for kids. None of the rooms have simple things as glasses, cattle(with kids not an option)best to not take b&b because you will spend a fortune for lunch/dinners. Bathroom is horrible, constantly something liking.
Payed over 1k just for hotel waste of money never would come again. Wife only around reception, laundry is so expensive (with kids not an option)

The only good think good cleaning service and swimming pool.

Breakfast every day the same, don’t want to think how dinner looks like.

Madeira is beautiful but impression of hotel ruined all holidays.

If would come back defo would rent apartment, not a hotel!!!

Well, first thing, this hotel is not disabled people or babies friendly. No lifts at all and receptionist people don’t bother too much to get them a room on the ground floor. We’re not impressed with the breakfast quality and when asked for a highchair for our baby was given us a highchair so so so unsafe that our baby would fall on the floor straight (no straps to hold him - see picture). Asked the waiter and the grumpy answer was something like this: “complains upstairs in the reception“. Very noisy, no pool robes available,

I was not expecting great things when I booked our break to Madeira. Yes the hotel is old fashioned and the bathroom needs updating but the room was spacious, spotlessly cleaned every day. The hotel itself is lovely with an amazing indoor swimming pool and two lovely outside pools. Breakfast is good, plenty of choice but the coffee is to be avoided as is the orange juice. The staff are friendly and helpful. We came to see the NYE fireworks but decided against going to Funchal as there is a perfect vantage point on the Cristo Rei statue site to view the fireworks. There were about 100 people watching with us, mainly locals. It saved us the 2/3 hour wait to get back from
Funchal in a taxi / bus and we saw all the fireworks in all their glory. Garajau itself had all we needed for our stay. Plenty of good restaurants
