We arrived at 12:30 am in a storm. The man at the front desk could not have been nicer. He was very helpful and welcoming. We have a service animal and he was very nice to accommodate him as well. The location was good, easy on and off the road. We were able to park where the hard rains didn't not bother us or our car.

Do NOT stay here if you can help it. When we arrived there were bags of garbage outside all over. When we got into our room we were greeted by a very strage chemical-like smell, and dirt on the floor and walls. Also our toilet was not working,so we had to wait for the matinance man to show up, along with many other guests we saw waiting outside their rooms. I usually don't mind Motel 6's, but this is the worst one I'd ever seen. We left about 10 minutes after we checked in, so that's all I can say about it. We went to a Best Western in VA beach that cost about $15 more a night, but it was WELL worth the price difference!

I've never ever had a problem with a motel before this one. This motel has me scared to ever sleep in another motel again.
I was put in room 308. When I walked in, the room smelled musty. There was long hair on the "clean" towels. I was okay with both of those things since I did, in fact, only pay $50 for a Saturday night. I didn't expect the place to be magnificent.
When I laid down at about midnight to get some rest, there was a white bug crawling on the sheets. Thinking it was some random bug, I didn't lose my cool. I started googling what bedbugs look like and unfortunately that white bug was a BEDBUG. I immediately went to the lady at the front desk. I was almost in tears. She said she was going to move me to a nicer room in 212. She said she promised it was nicer and she puts the dirty people, online bookings, and prostitutes in the 300 rooms and saves the 200 rooms for cleaner people. I was appalled. I booked my hotel online, but why does that mean I should be put in some crappy, bed bug, prostitute sleeping room? I will never, EVER stay in any Motel 6 again. They're owned by Dot Indians who don't clean anything besides the sheets and pillow cases. That blanket on top is used over and over again...I watched them put it back. Stay here if you want, but keep ALL of your belongings in an air tight container because it is extremely difficult to ever get rid of bed bugs. I'd pay the extra $10 or $20 and stay in the quality inn less than a half mile away.

I stayed at this hotel to drive Uber for the weekend. It was a very, very enjoyable stay. I have anxiety and depression ( who doesn't) so I had my kitten with me and they were ok with that. I had a Dr' s note just in case. I asked them not to do any housekeeping because I had Journee in there and I was afraid she would run out and they complied, they were very pleasant people and I will definitely stay there again and I would encourage anyone to stay there if u r in the area. It's not a fancy expensive hotel, but it was clean and u get what u need and that is what it is about, somewhere to lay your head and wake up in the morning.

Over the years we have stayed at this hotel, because we have pets. I have to say this was the worst stay at any hotel we have ever had. When we arrived to our room, we noticed some shady people hanging out in the parking lot, and where we had been driving for over 5 hours we just wanted to go to bed. After we got into the room and got our animals settled. I decided to go into the bathroom, when I closed the door, I was shocked to see the back of the bathroom door was damaged. There was a whole in on the back of the door that was around 6 inches in length and it was not sanded or panted over, the whole bottom of the door was also damaged, as well as the door frame was also damaged. It was disgusting, that this hotel would sell a room like this.

While still in the bath room I looked to my right and noticed that where the wall of the shower and the tub met there was a black line about 3/4 of the way across. This really upset me and where it was after 9pm at night there was nothing that anyone could do. I called the front desk and told them what we found and they said that the manager will contact us in the morning.

At around 9am I called the front desk and asked if the manager was available and they said they were not available. I let them know what I found in the bathroom and in the shower, I also let them know that when I went to turn down the bed spread that there was nastiness all over it. They said they would come and replace it and scrub the bathroom down, they also needed to clean the mirror over the sink because it was nasty as well. They said they would be just a few minutes. 20 Minutes later they final showed up and clean the mess, and put on a new bed covering. I again asked for the manager and was told they were unavailable.

We left to run a few errands and visit family. We came back a few hours later to take our dog out, and then we went to get dinner. We came back from dinner and went to bed, at around 1 am early Sunday morning there was a loud fight going on in front of our room as well as someone running up and down in front of the room and hitting the air conditioners. I called the front desk about what was going on and they did not seem to give a crap that there guest where being harassed. I told them if they did not do something I was going to call the police. This behavior outside of our room continues for a few more minutes. I finally had enough I called the lobby back and let them know that we have had enough and that I am going to say something and that I was going to put the phone down and tell them to stop. I opened our door and let these nut cased know to stop their behavior or I was going to call the police, one of the nut cases said whatever! I told them if they did not stop I was going to call the police. I them shut the door and let the person on the phone know that I wanted the manager to contact me in the morning.

When the morning arrived the manager again was not available, same old crap. Unfortunately because we already paid for the room and I asked if they would refund for Sunday night because we wanted to leave. We were told that they would not refund us for Sunday night and I asked why, and they told me that the manager said that they would not refund us for Sunday, and that he raillery refunds any guest even when it's the hotels fault and not the customers fault. This is so messed up. So we had no choice to stay in this nasty hotel, with a manager/owner that did not seem to care about their customers. All they seemed to care about what themselves.

I also plan on filing a complaint with the corporate office of this hotel chain, and well as letting everyone that I know. To not stay at this hotel, because it is nasty, some of the staff where rude, and the manager/owner does not seem to care about anyone but themselves.

As I stated in the beginning “Turn around and Run from this Hotel" The new manager/owner or whatever they call themselves needs a major reality check. I also stated above that we have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have never had any problems. I can tell you this I will never stay at this hotel ever again.

There is a new hotel that they are working on about 10 minutes away and it only cost about $10.00 per night to stay there, they have continental breakfast, clean rooms, nice staff, allow pets and a manager that seems to care about their customers concerns.

Sincerely
Never staying at the Motel 6 in Newport News Virginia or any Motel 6 ever again.

I found the staff to be doing their best to keep this poor representation of the Motel Chain with the catchy slogan afloat. They deserve purple hearts because they are working with a hopeless situation! I don't know if this place can be salvaged or not. I'd almost say tear it down and start all over. The most offensive aspect of the room was the SMELL. Some cheap carpet cleaner with some cheap strawberry fragrance was trying to cover up the fact that these carpets were beyond cleaning!!! My suggestion: Rip up all the carpet (I was afraid to let my little dog walk on it...SERIOUSLY!) The room itself was demeaning. No one who pays for a room, I don't care who they are or what their reasons for staying, should have to stay in a place with furniture that has molding missing and looks like Goodwill would reject it. It was pitiful to see that apparently someone in housekeeping had tried to make the dressing stand or table (I can't remember which) look nice with a cheap little cloth covering the top. There was one bed in the room where there had been two and that bed remained close to the far wall. (It felt as if they got rid of the first bed for some reason we don't want to know). This left a huge open space where the seemingly dirty dark gray carpet was the main focus. It was also evident that the people in housekeeping tried to cheer this place up with light bulbs that were of high wattage. However, this only left the whole situation WORSE. You almost had to squint to avoid the glare. At eleven at night when we arrived, I was tempted to go to Walmart and buy lower wattage light bulbs because we couldn't read or do the paper work we had to do because of the glare when the lights were on and the dismal depressing lighting when we left only one on. The only decent thing about the whole room was the bed. It had clean sheets and surprisingly, a mattress we could sleep on. There were a scant number of towels available and the bathroom had molding that needed repair. We would have checked out immediately, but it was too late that evening and we were concerned about losing our money. When we closed the door to check out the very next day, I noticed that all of the outside doors of this place were badly in need of painting. However, that was the least of the overall repairs that need to be done to this ramshakle motel.

We are not rich people. We have a small business that we're struggling to keep afloat while working full time jobs. When we spend money to get away, it means we have to give up something else. We're used to staying at Motel 6 or others in the two star category. I drove across the country last year staying at such hotels. This one was the worst and no amount of Tom Boudette's reassuring voice on the radio could make me go back to this particular motel.

My husband and I were trying to find a place to live in Newport News with our five month old daughter so we were staying here for a month! We paid the weekly rates! The cleaning people would knock once and open or try to open the door! When they come in they would hand you the stuff and look around then you would have to clean the room yourself so I put the do not disturb sign on the door and the manager's wife would take the sign and knock then open the door then she would tell you the trash goings in the dumpster! Then she would tell you the place is a mess and you need to clean it. Then she kicked us out when we called the head of the motel and told us to never come back! Don't worry I will not stay there any more to much problems. They need to wait until someone says something before walking in.

I have stayed at the motel 6 before but this was just ridiculous. First the AC didnt want to come on, then room smelled, and there was a big hole in the wall, the bathroom was just nasty, the carpet was just dirty. When I asked to change rooms I was told because, I wanted smoking this is what they had. and I dare i say it had bugs!

I was taking my husband to VA for his AIT. (He's in the Army) So we decited to stay at this hotel because it was only $36 a night. It was gross! The room was suppose to be "smoke free" but it smelt so bad of smoke, and lack of cleanliness. The bathroom was another story. The towels were dirty, and bathroom looked like it never been cleaned once! Not to mention we had loud neighbors, and we felt it was a little too ghetto for us. It gave us an unsafe feeling. I recommend you don't stay there. I could have paid an extra $10 to stay the Holiday Inn.

I chose this motel because we needed accommodations last minute and they had inexpensive rooms and pets stay free. I was concerned checking in when the lobby was closed, I had to slide my credentials through a security window, and the parking lot was empty save for some ...interesting... individuals lingering. We had 2 vehicles and when I asked if it was okay the clerk was very concerned there would not be enough room and was reluctant to okay it. The lots were literally empty, it was late at night. He suggested we park across the street. Next morning lots were still empty.

The room was in terrible shape, there was a hole in the wall by the door and a big crack in the mirror, damages to other walls, grime and dents like someone had gotten into a big fight and the room was just left like that. I wish I had taken more photos of the shower head and walls. I was afraid to adjust the shower head (after washing out the bugs in the tub ) because the whole area surrounding it was corroded away. The bathroom door couldn't be closed or latched because it was almost an inch too short from the wall. I was afraid to walk barefoot in the room because the walls were so dirty I was worried about the floor. The lights are so dim you couldn't really see anything. The air is pretty loud. I found burn holes in the blanket the next morning (we are non-smokers but they had only smoking available when I checked in).

Honestly we were so exhausted after moving out of our home and the bed linens looked pretty clean and towels were white so we said screw it, showered and stayed. Checked out first thing in the morning. I'd never stay again though.
