Detailed Reviews
Upon arrival at the hotel we were provided with a cool towel and drink which was nice and welcoming after a long trek to Koh Chang.
Reception checked us in quite quickly and took a room deposit off you.
The bell boy then explained about the monkeys, map of the hotel and shuttle bus then took us to our room.
Our room was at the top in the hills and you had to have a buggy take you there. The views were amazing.
The room was clean and authentic, couple of stains on bed sheets but you could tell they had been washed so this didn't bother me.
Plenty of toiletries in the room which were lovely.
The rooms could be doing with some wall hooks being added so you can hang towels etc to dry. But no big deal.
I would suggest they give guests more toilet roll each day.
The bed was the only down side it was rock hard and very uncomfortable and while we were out one day I emailed reception and they put a topper on, this helped but it was still uncomfortable. I would suggest in time the hotel perhaps changes them! I marked the hotel a 9 out of 10 and this was the reason why!
Our room was 9305 and this was right under the breakfast area and as the chairs are wooden and heavy every morning I was woken early by people moving chairs so this was a little annoying!
The views are amazing.
Pools are very clean and they try and maintain them as much as possible it's obviously quite hard with so many trees and plants. Beach was clean. Breakfast was amazing you could not fault the choice what so ever!
All the staff where helpful and polite!
It was very quite when we were there due to Corona and they had to close the breakfast restaurant. The restaurant at the beach was very expensive so we only had something to eat one night there and it was nice!
I didn't think the monkeys would come to our balcony as it wasnt near any trees....and I was very wrong! While sunbathing in the balcony one came around the corner ....they are very fast and cheeky so beware of any belongings!
There was some building work at the beach pool which they had made discreet however the noise was a little distracting which was ashame. One of them things I suppose and it didn't ruin our stay.
We would stay again however would ask for a room that wasnt under the breakfast area.

When we first arrived here, and we were checking in, I could hardly take my eyes off the sea view from the reception area, the surrounding jungle, and at the beautiful infinity pool below reception, but just above the beach. The grounds are simply stunning from top to bottom. There are gorgeous flowers and butterflies, as well as mischievous macaques that look for food on the balconies, there are groomed gardens where culinary herbs and lettuces are grown; the beach is clean, covered with shells, not trash; the pools are wonderful, with well appointed chaise, umbrellas and tables. The international wait staff in the restaurants are courteous and sweet, and we especially enjoyed our meal in the lower level restaurant, as well as the generous breakfast spread upstairs. They were showing a movie for kids in the evening, and they created a very nice atmosphere with some tables facing the screen and cocoon-like wicker chairs for several to curl up in. They also offered all the guests complimentary popcorn, which was very good!
We really have to pinch ourselves at the beauty which surrounds us here and it is hard to want to leave except to go snorkeling or kayaking nearby. It is the best possible conclusion to 8 weeks of traveling in SE Asia.
I say all this because when we initially saw our room here we were a bit disappointed. It is spacious, the sea view from the balcony is gorgeous (though you do have to watch out for the trickster monkeys). But the room smelled musty and it felt a bit institutional and charmless despite a few design flourishes. The duvet and pillow covers are polyester or a blend instead of high grade cotton like most hotels in this category, and although there is a closet with hangers accessible from inside and outside the bathroom, and a small towel rack over the bathtub, there are no wall hooks anywhere to hang a robe or dry clothing close to the tub or near the shower which is in a separate location across the “hall” from the bathroom. If you take a shower the only place to put your towel is over the glass door. In the end these are minor complaints given the beauty of the setting, and there are lots of built in drawers throughout, but as a traveler on the move it’s nice to have accessible places to hang bags, clothes, etc.
We would love to return, and although we might look at some of the different room options for our next visit, despite being in the upper hotel block, it felt very private.
I did call reception about the musty smell. The woman I spoke with asked if I wanted it sprayed, which I did not. But she said they could bring up two bowls of cut pandan leaf, and they did, which helped, as did the ac.
In conclusion: a beautiful resort, attentive staff, a real slice of paradise far from the chaos of motorbikes, tuk-tuks, pollution and blasting music.
A wonderful respite before we return to Bangkok
and our home flights.

We stayed as a family, three rooms, five adults for just over a week. . It was to celebrate my ‘significant’ birthday which is coming soon! All five of us had a fabulous time. The resort is stunning, beautiful flowers and grounds. It feels miles from anywhere but is a short hop by shuttle or taxi to Kae Bae. The breakfast was extremely good, a great selection and the staff were always clearing plates and replenishing dishes.
Our rooms were lovely, King size bed, lovely linens, very spacious. The bathroom was large with a bath and a large walk in shower off the bedroom somewhat sperate with a rather unique sliding door for privacy when needed! There was also a fridge, a very good air on system and a lovely balcony with two sun beds and beautiful view.
The beach and both pools were equally nice, my own slight criticism would be too few sun beds around the upper pool.
We enjoyed riding in the funicular railcar up and down the steep hill to the beach, it was fun, as were the golf buggy rides up the hill when we needed a ride. .
The staff were always helpful, especially the security people who summoned taxis.
The spa was amazing, the best full body massage I have had - ever!
Nearby, Porns bar just along the beach or a short walk through the next door drive was great fun, a treehouse type setting. Another tree house with a view over the tree tops was the Oasis bar, a short taxi ride away, and the local Mexican in town was lovely. Highly recommended.

Concrete building, brick colored tile and cheap wood laminate surfaces, polyester sheets and bedding! I was so excited to stay here but after looking at the room wished I was in my own home. It feels so much like a modern concrete building without any charm despite some decorative wood surfaces (often laminate or even plastic). The view is stunning but it is contained within the balcony and framed with metal bars and concrete. We have stayed in so many beautifully appointed hotels throughout SE Asia for much less so this is really a shock.
Bath and shower separated by main “hallway” at room entry. Nowhere in either to hang towels, one or clothes while you bathe and shower. No hooks anywhere in the large space, only the closet with four hangers. Shelves and drawers in odd spaces throughout.
For such a stunning location with beautiful grounds and inspiring views, the main building is more reminiscent of brutalist architecture. The room is cold and charmless with hard surfaces and uninspired color. Hoping my experience improves. Not four or five star quality.

Dear Zanskar_10, Greetings from sunny Koh Chang. We are sad to see that despite your praise to our gorgeous location we didn't quite meet your expectations. What you disliked, many love and, although we understand our rooms are not brand new, we make great efforts to keep up the maintenance of them all to the highest of standards. Our furniture is not made of laminated wood nor plastic. I am glad to see that you noticed that we not only have a bath but also a walk-in shower, this is a feature almost no resort has in the island, it is, however, disappointing to hear that you didn't appreciate having both options in your room. We have towels racks in all bathrooms so we are surprised to read that you didn't have any, we will send our housekeeping team to check for it and if it is found missing we will install it again. We provide 5 hangers in each wardrove as a standard, however, should any of our guests need more, we are happy to send some extra hangers over, as long as we are informed out it. Despite keeping our rooms very well maintained, we would like to inform you that we have some projects ahead where we will upgrade all rooms with a completely new design. We hope we can welcome you back once completed. Best Regards, Tom Storup Rooms Division Manager

If you are looking for a quiet beach front location, then the Seaview Resort is the right one for you. The hotel is situated in the middle of the rainforest, lies on the most beautiful strech of Kai Bea Beach and as it is "private", there isn't the usual traffic at the beach such as at White Sand Beach. The views especially from the top / restaurant are spectacular, for the rooms you can choose to either stay at the beach area or at the top. The rooms (Beachfront Deluxe) are OK, nothing fancy and a bit outdated. Another PRO is the professional Yoga classes offered twice per day free of charge for hotel guests.
CONS: although the location is spectacular, it is also very remote at the same time. It is a pity that one can not walk along Kai Bea beach to the village at high tide - it would be very close. So you feel a bit trapped and cannot move anywhere without ordering a taxi each time you want to leave the hotel. In addition, the prices at the bars / restaurant are too high - of course it is a hotel and you can not expect the same prices as in the village but they are far too high. In comparison, at the KC Grande hotel (best resort on White Sand Beach) the prices in the hotel bars/restaurants are half of what they are at Seaview Resort. It's a pity, many more people would eat in the hotel in the evenings if the prices were a bit adjusted. If you want to have a good dinner at the beach, go next door to Porn's Bungalows. And last: it is nice to be in the middle of nature, but that means that monkeys come to the balconies and one needs to lock the doors at all times. Sleeping at two steps from the beach with the doors closed is a pity, not the hotel’s fault but you just need to be aware of that in order to avoid disappointment.
All in all a good choice of accomodation and we would return there.

Dear suiza_salsera, Greetings from the Sea View Koh Chang! Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you find us to be highly recommendable. Thank you for pointing out our fantastic views from our Lighthouse Restaurant and clifftop pool, it is always something that is talked about by our guests. We are also glad to hear that you enjoyed our daily complimentary Yoga lessons. Being in such stunning and peaceful location can be for some an inconvenience however, you would get the views and tranquillity we have to offer otherwise. As you say, it is very easy to walk to Kae Bae along the beach when the tide is low and when it is not you can use our complimentary shuttle bus which our guests always appreciate. In terms of our restaurant prices, we understand it may be higher than the streetside restaurants the town centre however, the views, the service and the quality of our products justify the difference in price. We thank you once again to have shared such nice comments and we hope we can meet you again soon. Best Regards, Tom Storup Rooms Division Manager

We had a deluxe beachfront room at the hotel near the beach. The room, the amenities and the cleanliness were on a high standard. The resort is in the forest and on a steep hill. The sun lounges’ area is nicely covered by trees and makes a natural shadow. The nearby village is 15min beach walk. The staff was polite and (wish more) smiling. Great views from the top!
However, we didn't like very much the idea to go up the hill every morning, as the breakfast was served only in the restaurant on the top. Despite the transport organised by the resort, we found it inconvenient. The breakfast was far from great; we stayed 11 days and the fruits were very limited (everyday: papaya, guava, sweet melon and pears). Despite the big variety on the market I had the feeling that we were eating the only fruits "from the resort’s garden"…

I have spent such a great time in this hotel especially the Pool Villa Suite is spacious and perfect. Very comfortable and wide kind bed. The room features private pool with jacuzzi at the same area. Many corners to take perfect photos. The bathroom has separated shower and spa wooden tub. They also have electronic washlet toilet in the bathroom. We were very happy with the room decorations and amenities. The hotel is huge. You can conveniently use the facilities such as beach bar restaurant or the Light House restaurant for breakfast with the Cable lift so that you don't have to walk all the way up the hill. The service was good. All in all, we were very impressed.

Very nice hotel. Beautiful territory. Comfortable apartments. Spectacular views. Friendly staff. Clean private beach providing such services like kayak or paddle boards rent. Nice restaurants, especially the one on the top, with good food and service. A bit too high price per night, but we were traveling during the New Year holidays - in this case you always expect to spend more on your holidays than usually. We definitely recommend Sea View Koh Chang.

This hotel has nothing to do with a 5 star resort as it markets itself. Realistically evaluated, it is a 3 star resort.
The buildings are old and dated, without any atmosphere or aesthetic architectural value. Yes, tastes may differ, but some things in life can be a fact..... The guest rooms look like old, converted apartments, without any luxury standards expected at a 5 star resort. This self acclaimed 5 star resort, also dares to charge in house guests for making use of the sauna, which should make it evident how they are different from what they pretend to be.
All together I would say, this place would be appreciated by Chinese tour groups.
Breakfast was okay, but no espresso machine to be found. Only filtered coffee.
For this place to present itself as a 5 star resort is simply misleading. 3 stars at most!

Dear Travelprofessor2017, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We are sorry to hear that we didn't live up to your expectations. With regards to your comments on our star rating, we would like to clarify that we are not self-assessing our star rating; our 5-star standard was awarded by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and we pride ourselves to have achieved this after many years of hard work and commitment by the resort's management and wonderful staff. Our buildings went through a soft refurbishment during the 2 months the island was on lockdown and we have been upgrading our rooms year after year to make sure the rooms are kept up to the high standards we strive for. We would also like to inform you that, in addition to the soft refurbishment we have worked on, we are undergoing a full renovation of our main lobby and superior rooms and we are also building a brand new state-of-the-art beachfront pool bar. The sauna is located in our exclusive Rainforest Spa which has just been awarded by the prestigious World Luxury Spa Awards the ''2020 Global Win in Luxury New Resort Spa''. One of the highlights of our award-winning spa is the privacy and luxurious comfort that it has to offer to the guests who decide to use the facilities; this includes a Finish Sauna, Steam Room with self-scrub of the highest quality and, of course, our popular vitality pool. Because of all this, we try to limit the use of spa's facilities to paying guests as otherwise, it will lose the exclusivity that makes the Rainforest Spa so special. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our very popular breakfast, some say it the best on the island. We do offer a large variety of coffees at our breakfast where you can choose from a large variety of coffee brews with over 10 different types on our coffee menu. Please speak to any member of staff and they will be glad to prepare it for you. We hope we can welcome you back sometime soon to experience all our new features and I will gladly give you a tour and explain every aspect of our fantastic new facilities. Best Regards, Tom Storup Rooms Division Manager

The villa was one of the best ‘rooms’ we’ve ever had. Contemporary design with roof top terrace, deck and lap pool (with jets and outdoor shower/bath).
Luxurious large bathroom with separate rain shower and plunge bath.
Main bedroom can be closed off from living room (where there is ample room for kids to sleep).
Beautiful beach, 2 pools and the spa is worth a visit.
Easy access by taxi to the various coastal villages where you’d struggle not to find food.
Lunchtime pool menu is pretty good (ask for spicy as the default is ‘medium’). You can also walk along the beach to the shack next door for variety).
Excellent service from all staff but special mentions to Jeab at breakfast; the wonderfully friendly security guard and Toy at the beachside restaurant.
Great place to stay.

They may have something but probably best and cheaper just to book a taxi. As you probably know this resort is a long way from Sea View and you have to go the long way around and they'll charge a bit as it is a one way trip with few customers to have a trip back. Most taxis are really small trucks where you sit in the back so maybe worth paying for a normal sedan through Seaview. Maybe the other resort will have a good rate as they are used to having to pick up customers. Seaview is peaceful Maybe you don't need the long trip to this obscure resort. I note on Google it says it is permanently closed but probably not correct.
I should note too at the pier it is easy to get the boat across and a taxi on the other side to the hotel. The boat I think is 80 baht and taxi about 150 each. The taxi rakes about 40 minutes. If you book a taxi from your location they might take you to the hotel for just a bit more but maybe not.
Dear Rankasej,
Greetings from Sea View Resort & Spa, Koh Chang.
Both of these room types have balconies ( or terrace in the case of some deluxe family rooms).
If there is anything else that we can help please let us know.
Best regards,
Nick Rosescu
