Detailed Reviews
My family spent one night here on our road trip through the South. It's a historic old house that's been beautifully renovated inside. Lots of antique-looking furnishings and decor. Super charming. Located a few miles from the town center on what used to be a large farm, so there's nothing in walking distance but it takes only 5mins to drive to town. Their covid protocols were communicated very well and guests and staff seemed to be complying. Run by a very friendly couple who gave us good dinner advice. We ate at a spectacular BBQ place in a converted gas station (trust me, it's much nicer than it sounds) on the recommendation of the hosts. Room was large and comfortable. Bathroom also large and spotless. Wifi adequate. The outdoor patio in the back was really lovely. Due to covid, they scheduled breakfast for each party and we ate out on the patio and guests could choose from several offerings. Breakfast was excellent. Price was very reasonable so I'd rate this an excellent value.

The hosts will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The b&b was full of through hikers and other visitors chatting and having fun. Very reasonably priced considering the proximity to the park. The hosts were very accommodating and even made us a breakfast to go since we were leaving early. The room was clean and spacious. The WiFi isn’t very strong

Mountain Home is a gem! Filled with love, books, games, great food and a most welcoming duo named Lisa and Scott. In this location, you can weave modern recreation with vestiges of history and the time and space to dream about the future. Highly recommend!

I considered this review for awhile. The accommodations were clean and the breakfast servings were good. We enjoyed the conversations with the guests and owners. But the owners were insistent on full masking indoors. It did not matter that I already had had the virus, plus a vaccination. This requirement was unique among all the businesses and restaurants visited in Front Royal and neighboring towns, where no masking was required at all. If I were to return, I would need to confirm this requirement had been relaxed to a community level. Otherwise I found it to be a pleasant stay and would have given it a higher rating.

+1
First and foremost I want to say that the pictures on trip advisor had me a little bit uneasy about my decision to stay (pictures that are now known as pre construction ). Scott greeted us outside and offered to take our luggage upstairs. We also stopped by and got takeout and Scott set us up outside to eat. The house is beautiful with simple furnishings in the rooms. Breakfast was delicious and Lisa took our order that evening along with the time we would like to eat. My husband and I are eager to come back!

My girl friend and I stayed here sandwiched between rafting in Harpers Ferry and hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Lisa and Scott were incredibly welcoming. Breakfast was amazing and prolly the most enjoyable part of our stay was drinking coffee and visiting with them both after b’fast. We had the very best time that morning. Thank you both!

This was an exceptional experience! Scott and Lisa were very personable, professional and most accommodating to me and my family's food allergies. The B&B was clean and elegant, but at the same time very comfortable and homely. We would like to make this destination an annual tradition if possible! Thank you for such a meaningful and memorable experience for us Lisa and Scott!

Scott and Lisa run a phenomenal B&B (and are gracious hosts, as well). Great way-stop for AT hikers (as I was); but also a wonderful home-style lodging for any traveler. Wonderfully restored home and grounds on east side of Front Royal - a nice town in its own right. Highly recommended!

Recently had the pleasure of driving down through the Shenandoah Valley on our way to Charlottesville and decided to do a cavern tour. Front Royal was our first stop and we’re fortunate to pick this treasure. Historic home that the owners Lisa and Scott have restored keeping with the original flair. They are amazing hosts that have opened the home to all. Did I mention that breakfast was amazing as well. Can’t thank you enough. We will be back.

I have to echo the other reviewers. This is the place to stay if you want an inexpensive, clean, comfortable shared room to rest on your way to a hike...or like me on my way to exploring other areas of Virginia (not a hiker, heh). The beds in the cabin upstairs are very comfortable, I slept very well both nights I was visiting. There are clean towels, soap, shampoo, and extra blankets etc. The shared bathroom is fresh and clean.
The hosts are truly friendly people and really go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. I didn't get a chance to meet Scott, but spoke to him on the phone when he kindly mentioned that I could save a few bucks by arriving and paying in cash directly. Lisa was an outstanding host, and was there to welcome me, provide information on skyline drive and various activities, and her breakfasts were wonderful! I wasn't expecting breakfast, so this was such a treat, with fresh fruit and several options each day to choose from.
Truly a wonderful stay with bargain prices. And I will surely return in the near future...
