Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to stay a night or two no frills camping. Open field not all spots have electric or water. There is a dump station . There is a little ice cream place on site and walking trails. Close to town and restaurants. If your looking for a place to lay your head for the night it's great

The campground in glen Maury Park is quiet, clean, and well maintained. There are
a few smaller RV / tent sites deep in the higher wooded section of the park, and many
more in the lower, riverside section. Sites are level, wide, and easily navigated with
even a very large rig. In the lower campground, most sites easily accommodate TV
via satellite. The sites are 30 Amp power and water, but lack sewer connections. A
dump site is available in the upper section of the campground. During our stay, the
campers present were well behaved, quiet, and respectful of quiet hours. We will be
returning when we come back to Buena Vista.

We attended last year but didn't camp. This year we camped with four other friends who camped. The office folks were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are run pretty loosely; go find a site, pay, but they don't keep track of who is where. Each camp area has four electrical hookups two 20amp and two 40amp, and water. Take a splitter for water as there is only one spigot. Water pressure is high.
Fires are ok but there are no fire rings or grills. You need to remove any fire remains.
Showers and restroom were adequate and maintained twice daily. Not sure if this is normal or extra due to the festival, but it was a pleasant surprise based on one negative review.
Bottom line is we had a great time at this park and would recommend it particularly for the festival.

HORRIBLE Went last summer it was bad. Poor electric & water sites narrow campers on top of each other. Group of people camping in center partied all weekend. Nothing was done. Never saw camp host, was told they were gone most weekends and if they are there they go to bed early, so anything can go on. Nothing to do! Pay extra for bands & pool. Was told it would be better this year. But came back again and it is all tore up! Can't camp in the reg campground unless you want to camp without water electric or sewer. Last yr we were told they would be installing sewer, but they're only redoing the water and electric, no sewer. They do have a dump station you can use. Have upper campground, go up steep curvy narrow road, horrible for rvs, More for tiny campers or tents, But on top of all this, they Jacked prices way up for this year! Hateful rude lady with short curly hair (wish I had gotten her name) in office on weekends. After how she talked to us, we wouldn't stay and won't go back. so be forwarned! We did drive our car through the available camping area, small and tight, difficult to navigate a big rig. Very few campers there. We have been coming a couple times a year, esp for events, and have made a lot of friend with locals that camp there all season. Only saw 1, several have sold their campers and others are camping elsewere. Its a shame they are letting the campground go down so much and losing a lot of business! For what they're now charging, you can pay a little more and get a high quality campground with things to do. Here there are no activities, no game room, outdated pool you pay extra for. They have a lot of rules that aren't enforced. Guess this place is ideal for just someone traveling and pull in at night and leave early the next morning.

Glen Maury Park is an open and spacious campground right on the river. It has electric and water hook ups. I was there for the Fiddlers Convention. Lots of tent campers and RVs. The staff is very helpful, the place is really clean. They have a really big pool, and a golf course. Everyone had a really good time.

Beautiful place. Quiet. Well kept. Awesome views from the double decker. Has a pool, picnic tables, shelters, camping for tents and campers or RVs, golf. Has a historic building, The Paxton House, but it's closed to the public. An old train caboose, which is fun to look over. Restrooms are extremely old and dirty. The toilet seat was clean, at least. I never could find the trails they mention on the website. And there aren't a lot of places to park and attempt to find these trails. Such a large park, with few signs. I used my phone and Google maps to attempt to navigate the park. It was such a hot day, I finally gave up on the idea of hiking.

Awesome! My first time to the beach festival and I will return. If you love Shag music then you won't want to miss next years event. Bring your camper, tent or get a room at the Col Alto Hampton By Hilton in Lexington, Virginia. Whatever you do....stay and just dance. You dance under a pavilion to some of the best Shag bands on the East coast. Can't believe this has been going on for 18 years and I've missed it. No more I'm planning for a weekend of great music and shag dancing next year. Loved it! Tailgate and enjoy the beautiful view.

We have attended the Beach Music Festival and Car Show several times and have camped in our motorhome. We always stay in the lower area. Up the hill the campsites are more rustic but there is a pool.
The sites are very basic with water and electricity. The bath house is clean and well stocked. We enjoy the weekend but you have to get there early to get a good spot. The scenery is lovely and the river is nice. There are also restaurants nearby to bike or walk.

This is a no frills city run campground located in a park along the river. We paid $19 / night with our Passport America discount ($30 without) for 4 nights for W/E 30. The lot was back-in, spacious open field, totally unshaded, grass surface, slightly unlevel as we needed leveling blocks and long enough for motorhome and toad. Nice host with great service. Great place to stay to visit Natural Bridge, Blueridge Parkway and many other attractions.

Our extended family held a reunion at the double-decker pavilion this weekend and the facilities were excellent. There was plenty of room for visiting and a nice playground for the kids. The top deck provided plenty of sunshine and the lower deck was nice and shady with a constant breeze.
