Named for the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, this music themed hotel offers 70 rooms and suites with character revealing the history of the buildings and the Birthplace of Country Music in every detail. The property is comprised of three historic buildings - a grocery building, a candy manufacturing building and a granary mill. Great care as been taken to authentically renovate the buildings adding to the overall experience and vibe of the hotel. Gears and equipment has been left in the mill building, rooms have rafters and beams, historic windows, doors and floors along with exposed brick walls in every room. Each room is uniquely different based on the layout of the buildings and some rooms are evening the historic granary silo! The hotel is luxurious, yet comfortable and every detail has been purposefully selected to add to the overall guest experience. The property is located in Downtown Bristol, Virginia at the entrance to historic State Street - where you can plant one foot in Virginia and one foot in Tennessee at the same time! The downtown area is full of antique shops, boutiques, restaurants, breweries and museums. All of this is just steps outside the hotel making it a great basecamp for all there is to see and do in Bristol. Onsite the property features the award winning Southern Craft BBQ restaurant with a fabulous bar and outdoor patio dining, The Rooftop Bar, Simply Grand Meeting Room, Visions Day Spa & Salon and Star Barber Shop. Music influences abound at this property and there are various musical events that take place throughout the week and month, both onsite and throughout the downtown area.

We've been traveling to Bristol for many years, as we have a daughter who lives there. And, it's always been a challenge to find a decent place to stay that is close, not smoky, and doesn't have an insane amount of road nose penetrating the room. So, I can't tell you how delighted I was to stumble upon the Sessions when we had to make an emergency visit in December. The staff was super helpful. Full Covid restrictions were in place, offering peace of mind that we certainly needed at the time. Our room was extremely comfortable and quiet. We were located in a room off the hallway that had a separate entry to the hall, shared with another room. This prevented hallway noise from disturbing us. Coffee was available near the check in desk. We did not take advantage of any meals in the hotel, so I cannot comment on that. We stayed for three nights. There was no room freshening (bed wasn't made, bathroom cleaned), but I presumed that was due to the Covid policy. This didn't bother me, but I do hope on future trips that this will be included. The room did come with a coffee machine, but you needed to ask for the coffee pods due to their Covid policy.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and overnight in Bristol several times a year on the way to visit grandkids. On our most recent trip, we decided to skip the I81 adjacent hotels and give Sessions a try. What a surprise! Sessions is a true hidden gem - we actually considered extending our stay another night. The staff was exceptional – it’s difficult to make someone feel welcome, appreciated and “at home” in only one night, but they did it. The facility is even more impressive– the attention to detail at every corner reflects the passion and true intention of the owners in the design and theme of the hotel. The use of old microphone casing for lighting fixture in our room was pure genius – I still smile when I think about it. If the comfort, quality, and design of the hotel are not enough – then head across the breezeway to the Southern Craft restaurant. Simply the best baby back ribs I’ve ever had (we’re from Texas and spent the prior night in Memphis, so we have experience ….), and my wife declared the same for the chicken wings. The attention to detail and theme carried over to Southern Craft. We also had a chance to meet and talk to a long-term guest while we were out on the outdoor rooftop bar (which was a surprise as it was about 27 degrees out and the bar was understandable closed for the season …!) He’d been there for several weeks and told us just how much he enjoyed Sessions too. I’ve spent over 2,000 nights in hotels around the world over the course of my business and pleasure travel career. Sessions is easily in the top 5 places I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay.

What a fabulous compliment! And thank you so much for writing such a thoughtful and detailed review! As a new hotel, opening in the middle of COVID we've been challenged. But having our guest write such great reviews tells us that as we get back to our 'new normal', we've done things right! Thank you for noticing all of the little details and special ways we've told the story of the property and of Bristol. We look forward to your return! #grateful

The welcome could not have been more sincere - Katelynne was exceptionally friendly and provided great direction on where to dine, drink and wind down after a tough day. The rooms are well appointed and super unique. As a traveler who spends about 200 nights a year in a hotel, this was a refreshing experience.

Thank you so much for a perfect review! When we hear from guests who are 'road warriors' and they tell us how much they love the property it means the world to us! You experience a lot of properties all year long, so when we rank high in a road warrior's book - WIN! We hope you come back soon! And yes, our team - well, they ROCK!

The last time I went to Bristol, I stayed at The Bristol Hotel and we decided to change up this time. The Sessions was still being built when I was in town the first time, so I decided to give it a go this one. We were not disappointed! I did the romance package, just because. No special occasion, I just decided to surprise my boyfriend with a weekend fishing trip. The room came with a bottle of champagne, a gift card to one choice of two local restaurants, and rose petals. There was also a super cute little wooden “do not disturb” sign shaped like a record. (I like the little extra details— especially ones that could make cute Christmas ornaments.) The staff was beyond kind and the rooms were extremely clean. They DEFINITELY did a great job with following CDC guidelines. Pros: •On-site parking •Pet friendly, but doesn’t smell like dog •Easily accesible •Right in town- walking distance from everything (especially Blackbird Bakery) •Rooftop restaurant •Super cool spots for pictures! Cons: If I had to find a con, the floors in the bathroom a little slick when it gets wet, but they provide mats to prevent. So I dare you to find one.

We only stayed for one evening heading to another destination. Rooms are large and very stylish. Nice bathroom and they have a restaurant on site. The food at the restaurant was OK but most things are fried - gets lots of good reviews but we didn’t like it very much.

Thank you so much for your review. Glad to be your choice on travels. Southern Craft BBQ is mostly BBQ smoked onsite so it's definitely a specific food style. We hope you come back soon!
