Detailed Reviews
Unit was clean but needs some maintenance in way of some linoleum replacement and caulking or molding around sink areas. Interior and exterior painting well chosen. Having cable TV and FIOS was a definite asset. Big asset is the physical fitness center with workout room, heated indoor pool, and jacuzzi. The resort has a restaurant on the ski slopes with good choice of food and drink. The ski slopes, artificial snow, are well maintained. The Bryce Resort seems to put a lot of money and effort into it. They have a new building for skiiers including canteen and very good lockers. Rental price for Chalet High is very low. More people should consider it for a getaway weekend or week.

First a question. How many timeshares have you been to that when you need more towels, they tell you you have to wash what you have with your own soap? And when you check out you have to strip the linens from the beds and leave them downstairs? I will not go back to any capital vacation place because of this. Now the unit was clean and a brook right behind our deck with a golf course behind that. It was beautiful and the ski resort was next door, The mgr JD was a real nice guy and just doing his job, The indoor pool was great along with sauna and jacuzzi. Alot of wineries around and hiking. Unit 60 was upgraded 6 years ago and the place needs to be refurbished but very comfortable.

Thank you for your honest review of Chalet High. We do hope that we have the opportunity to service you again. We are sorry that you do not agree with our towel situation and check out procedures. We do not have laundry services available on property . All of our soft goods are contracted out and we do not receive extra. There is a wash and dryer provided in each room for the convenience of the guests. Most all of our timehsares require the guests to strip linens.

This is a pretty nice place to stay. It's just a little dated, but everything worked like it should. The unit I had backed up to a nice, little creek that made a wonderful babbling sound. The unit was large and most everything you need was available. The resort is located a distance from any kind of decent shopping. I don't play golf, but the course looked great. The only reason I docked a star is because the unit could've been a little cleaner. It wasn't too bad, you could just tell the cleaning people overlooked a few things.

Chalet is a well maintained property located off the beaten path. I’m not a golfer, but from general observation, the course is well kept and appears to be player friendly. Our unit was quite comfortable, with enough space in the common areas for a much larger crowd. My only feedback is due to the location of the HVAC system, it was loud in the master bedroom!

This is a great rental. The 3 bedroom unit has a large kitchen and family room area and the 3 bedrooms are comfortable. Everything was clean and in working order. The management company is helpful. Great value. No complaints!

The phenomenal staff at Chalet High, Basye, VA are kind, helpful, professional and friendly. They made our stay extra special. I absolutely loved working with the office staff. They would stand up from their chairs and approached you without your standing for and waiting. They all had smiles and were highly professional.
The accommodations were spacious, with clean carpeting, no odors, with some tile areas such as the huge kitchen, and the baths. We stayed in a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath unit, and our family could spread out. You were not disturbed upstairs if someone wanted to stay up and watch TV downstairs. The property was very quiet, peaceful with a babbling brook flowing along the back "yards" of most of the units. It was a short walk to the office. The kitchen was well equipped with blender, mix master, and all hand tools you may need like a ladle or a vegetable peeler. The refrigerator had an icemaker. Plenty of cabinets, (1 drawer needed repair as it was "tilted"), but all else was in very good repair. The pantry was spacious and roomy to put away any canned or dry goods. The upstairs master bath had a jacuzzi tub that was enjoyable. Water pressure was very good in the bathrooms.
The backside of the unit had the views of the creek and the golf course.
Nearby was Route 11 Potato Chip Factory and they give you free samples. We left with 2 of their large bags of very fresh chips. Luray Caverns, Shenendoah Caverns are nearby as well. At Luray Caverns there are a toy museum AND an old car museum that dates way back for various carriages, etc.
We hiked a number of days. Most hikes were 1/2 mile each way to 2.5 miles nearby with more challenging hikes nearby. The resort fronts a large golf course if that is to your liking.

Decent place with nice views and plenty to do. However, the buildings were dated and look original. The hot tub was also broken when were there, as well as the sauna. The "resort" did not provide detergent, although they gave plenty of dish detergent.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhome. There is a short flight of stairs into the main floor, a double flight up to the 2nd bedroom and a double flight down to the master. The units are spacious but showing incredible wear. The rugs and couch were stained. Large pieces of Formica were missing in the kitchen. In the master bedroom, the knob was broken off the closet, pieces of wood were broken off the dresser, one draw was stuck shut. There was a small flat screen TV. The King size mattress sagged so badly in the middle that you couldn't sleep toward the end of the bed
The vanity in the bathroom was missing the bottom shelf so if you put anything on it, it fell to the floor. There was a shower which was fine and a jacuzzi we didn't try. The upstairs bedroom had 2 twin beds and a full bath. No TV. There are no land line phones in the unit and cell service was iffy at best. There is an activity center with a pool and gym. It's closed on Sunday and closed by 5 during the week. Ive been timesharing for nearly 30 years and this was the first resort I've stayed at that didn't provide toilet paper beyond the roll on the holder. Had to buy toilet paper tissues and paper towels and bath soap besides the usual shampoo and conditioner. Also no towel exchange.
There is very little to do in the area. Restaurants are at least 20-30 minutes away and don't seem to open on any schedule. Places would post 11am opening and would still be closed at 2PM. Several times we drove well over an hour trying to find a place to eat. There are several antique malls and wineries in the area as well as civil war battlefields.

The size, location, overall experience was really outstanding! We were super impressed with the size and space in this unit. It had a huge outdoor deck, so much space for storage of goods, and expecially groceries. The kitchen utensils and such were also much better than average for these types of places. This was a really great surprise!
The only thing keeping this place from being a 5 is that it is in dire need of an update. While the size and usability was outstanding, everything in the place was very old. The couch reminded me of my grandmas couch she probably bought in the 70's, beds and carpets were pretty warn, counters, doors, etc. This includes the entertainment system, which was pretty poor. The one saving grace for this was good WiFi, so could stream stuff. Anyway, a remodel and this place would be a 10 for us!
The location was so convenient for use of the facilities at Bryce. So close and convenient, in fact, that traveling to/from the slopes/rink/tubing a few times in a day was welcome for meals and such. Have stayed in other places right by the resort, but traveling around the resort was a pain...this was really quite easy!

Used the 2.5 mile hiking trail around lake Laura about a 5 minute drive away. Indoor pool was large and covid safety rules were in place and adhered to. Pool reservations were required. There is available outdoor walking areas close to the condos. The condo was clean. The beds had been upgraded and were very comfortable. The living room/dining/kitchen area was large enough for 6 adults and a 3 year old to have space to do our own thing and/or play board games. There was sauna in our unit and a jacizzi tub. The place is dated, but not an issue for us. We would go again.
