Two things make this hotel stand out; customer service and water pressure. First, this was hands down the absolutely friendliest and best customer service I have ever experienced. I have stayed at 5 star hotels to 3 star and travel frequently, but this hotel stands out among the best. I was very impressed by how helpful and genuinely kind the staff was. They all should get a bonus!!! Second and maybe silly, but the water pressure was awesome in the showers! The hotel does need updates but I would happily return if in the area again.
From arrival to departure this was a pleasant enjoyable stay. The TV was great, the room spacious and clean, the llinens were like new. Everything about this property was top shelf. We would stay again.
My husband is a platinum-level Marriott member, so we've stayed at a lot of Marriott properties over the years. Our stay at this hotel was just about the worst experience I've ever had at a Marriott, or any other hotel. I'm only glad that we paid with points and didn't fork out the $300+ per night they charge at this place (how they get away with this is beyond me). The first thing we noticed when we checked into our room was that it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke—absolutely disgusting. We found cigarette butts on the balcony, so obviously the previous guest was smoking out there with the door to the room open, and the balcony was obviously not cleaned by housekeeping. (I also fail to see how housekeeping could have missed the smoke smell.) The one bar of soap (I use the word "bar" loosely) we were provided with was the size of a Starburst candy. I'm not sure how we were supposed to wash our hands and shower with this thing (there's a pandemic happening, people; we need clean hands). Luckily, we had brought some shower gel from home. Our room was also missing the usual pen and paper, so that when I needed to write down some info about an activity we had planned I ended up having to write on a food wrapper. The carpets in the hallways and in the elevator were filthy for the entire two days of our stay. The worst thing, however, was certainly the free "breakfast." One of the reasons we chose the Courtyard was because they usually have a Starbucks Cafe with good food and coffee. For some unknown reason the cafe at this property is closed. Instead, they set out a sad array of rubbery grocery store bagels, green bananas, chemical-soaked pastries that won't decompose until the next millennium, and juice in little plastic containers sealed with foil, like you might get on an airplane. The coffee was bitter and watery, and perhaps worse of all, I ended up getting sick from using the cream in the carafe they left out by the coffee. I don't know if the carafe wasn't cleaned properly, or if it had just been out too long, but proper food safety protocols were certainly not followed—again, not encouraging during a pandemic. The morning we checked out, as I was getting dressed, the housekeeper burst into our room without even knocking. This has never happened to me before anywhere. I feel badly for other guests who may have actually paid the more than $300 per night room rate. We used to love Marriotts and always made a point to stay in them when we traveled, but we are seriously rethinking this now. One of the things that made Marriotts great was that you always knew what you were getting. They maintained a certain set of standards. Sadly, this is no more.…
The bed was comfortable, and the place was quiet, so I got a good nights sleep. I did not use the fire pit, but it looked very nice from my place. see pic. The colors are as shown on the web site (I was not a fan) The tub had a stain in it. That seemed kinda gross.
I left something behind in my room when I checked out. Emailed and called the following morning. Desk manager and housekeeping mgr said they would call back IF they found the item. I had to follow up a few times. Apparently the housekeeper was not scheduled to be back for a few days. (I think someone should have called the housekeeper assp to find out what he/she did with the item). NO help at all from the staff. Lazy? Maybe. Dishonest? For sure.
