I have to say after reading all the sterling reviews I expected quite a bit more for the price. We had a king room in the main lodge that was spacious but not so comfortable as the one chair in the room was a small armless rocker. The room was clean but even had a bit of trouble getting the window to close all the way. Since the room faced the street it was quite noisy by 730. Breakfast was served premade in small mason jars. Kale/ hard boiled egg, cold oatmeal, sometimes fruit or yogurt, juice, and croissants. I thought it was inadequate for a 5 mile hike later in the morning. Despite other reviewers I didn’t find the lobby that comfortable or inviting. Finally the hot tub wasn’t hot. Also a pre arrival email was sent out that everyone had to wear a mask inside which I have no problem with, but the staff wasn’t always adherent. Overall I was quite disappointed.

Hotel's Favourite
This is the second time I've stayed at the Field Guide Lodge, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. We stayed in Cottage 2, a chic tiny house with a mid-century modern vibe. It had everything we needed -- a small kitchenette with a fridge, double-burner cooktop, sink and table with four chairs; a large comfy living room with a fireplace; two beautifully appointed bedrooms with king beds; and a luxe, spacious bathroom. The cottage was sparkling clean and our hosts left a goodie bag for us on the table. They put together a healthy and delicious brown bag breakfast for us that we picked up in the main lodge the next morning. The service was friendly and very accommodating. They graciously offered to let us work in the main lodge even after we'd checked out and treat ourselves to coffee or tea. Clean, quiet, cozy accommodations. Excellent service. The perfect mid-week mountain getaway. We will definitely be back!

It was such a delight to have you both back for a second time! Also, we're thrilled that you really took to our mid-century modern vibe -- there are definitely some warm aesthetics in that era that have the more than welcoming feel. Hopefully, you'll come back for a third stay sometime soon, and please let us know if you have any questions before then. Thanks for taking a few moments to share your experience and kind words!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Field Guide Lodge! We had a quiet, spacious king suite in the trail house. Large bathroom with separate tub and shower. Separate living room and bedroom, each with a TV. Bed was pretty comfortable. Small balcony. Living room had a fireplace but it is more for ambiance-did not seem to put out much heat. Nice that the windows opened so we could enjoy some fresh air. They also have a pool and hot tub--we did not get a chance to use either one, but the pool area looked nice. Loved the decor! Sort of a funky but modern '70's meets Swiss Army vibe. Furniture was comfortable and the suite was clean. Tasty and innovative breakfast--yogurt, fresh berries and a "breakfast salad" (greens with hard boiled egg and other ingredients) and a pastry each day. Croissant was delicious! Not the usual fare. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that the small fridge and in room Keurig coffee maker were just sort of plunked in the small closet in the main hall/entry way to the room. Would have liked to have seen this in the small wet sink/bar cabinet in the living room or in a dedicated small kitchen area. Nice to have the fridge, but seemed like an afterthought. Basically felt like staying in a small apartment but without a kitchen. All in all, very impressed with the property, easy online contactless check in and check out other than obtaining the key from the front desk. Would definitely stay again and would love to explore other Lark hotels!

I am back and forth on this place. I wanted it to be a bit more plush for the price point, but it was rustic. I didn't think the photos made it look that way.The atmosphere was more 'old camp cabin' (but not musty). Bed comfortable. - place was clean. It came with a couple of bottles of water and a bag with two generous chocolate chip cookies- a nice touch. The cabin suite we had was nice for a family (there were just two of us) and if one wanted to cook, they provided dishes, pots and pans and silverware in a kitchenette. A two burner electric stove, microwave, and refrig too. Once we figured out how to turn on the heat and exchanged the dead battery fireplace candles for new ones, the place was more comfortable, but my main complaint is the lighting is awful. The light bulbs are all very yellow so if you want to read it is miserable. A modern main chandelier is a bunch of bulbs on pipes radiating out, and there is a dimmer switch on that fixture. On the plus side, there is a campfire going outside that is nice to be able to enjoy and you can walk a few minutes on a sidewalk into the village main street. So good location. Wifi seemed good too.It did come with bathrobes. The breakfast was creative, but if you are expecting anything hot- and substantive, you will not find it here. I did like the fruit. The stuff comes in little mason jars. Yogurt, Berries and there was a spinach salad with crumbled bacon and chopped up hard boiled eggs. It was good! There was good coffee and granola as well.

Hi PattyPhiladelphia, Thanks for the in-depth rundown on your stay! It sounds like you enjoyed your overall time with us save a couple of quirks we appreciate your feedback on. Our aim at Field Guide is to provide guests with an authentic lodge-style visit that feels a lot like they’re staying with a close friend rather than at a traditional hotel. We hope the warm uniqueness that comes with the territory of that motif stands out in your mind long after departing from Stowe. We promise to have more of what you loved ready and waiting the next time you’re in town, from our cozy fires to our reliable WIFI, breakfast, and beyond. Looking forward to your return!

Lodge was awesome, so was our room. Plenty to do in the area (hike, shop, eat, drink, etc.). If weather was a little better we would've enjoyed the pool area. Front desk responded quickly to any questions we had.
