My husband and I stayed one night here a few months ago. I didn't write a review immediately because I needed some time to find the right words for this place. I'm still not sure, but I noticed the place is running a Living Social special again, so I thought I would let potential buyers know what to expect. The owner has responded to some of the bad reviews left by people who were unhappy, and in one, she said the place is cute and classy. I wouldn't describe our room as either cute or classy. It is cute if you like the shabby chic, mismatched look, but I don't feel it is classy. I know it is called a farmhouse inn, so I shouldn't complain, but it just isn't classy. And I think inns should be classy. Inns don't have a bunch of mismatched furnishings. And the bed should be comfortable. Both my husband and I tossed and turned all night. We were glad we didn't purchase a two-night stay. The heart-shaped tub adds to my confusion about this place. I'm of the opinion that heart-shaped tubs do not equal class. As others have said, the breakfast was yummy. And the area was very pretty. We enjoyed Wimberley and spent lots of time poking around antique stores, but should we decide to overnight again in the area, we will stay somewhere else. The Serenity Farmhouse Inn is just average.

My review is about my wedding at Serenity Farmhouse Inn. Last year we booked a wedding at Serenity and paid well in advance and signed a contract. Day of the wedding, I could not believe how many things went wrong. So many things we were promised in our contract were not provided for our wedding. Firstly, we ordered a cake with a lemon filling, the cake had zero filling, just super sweet icing. We threw the rest away. The champagne fountain shorted out and they poured orange juice for mimosas from plastic pitchers instead of nice beverage containers. Most of the food was served from chafing dishes that apparently had no Sterno fuel in them because all my guests mentioned the food being cold. The tiny chocolate fountain they used froze (Because it was for indoor use only) and we were promised it would be set up in our suite later that night, it was then offered to us unassembled to take home. I have a good choc fountain at home, I don't need some $30 one. One of the heaters we were told we had to rent for $150 broke and they moved it to the side so my uncle had to fix it down on his knees in his suit. There were supposed to be decorations and rose petals down the aisle and on the tables, the only ones used were the ones I provided. The fresh fruits we wanted with the chocolate fountain was mostly fruit not in season and rotten bananas. Who puts bananas on a fruit tray? We did not receive the Iced Tea, mints, and nuts we were promised at the wedding. We were not given chocolate covered strawberries or rose petals for the tub in our suite. There was no curtain for me( the bride) to get ready without people coming in to our suite and seeing me.

We were offered a refund and accepted it, however, I will be much more cautious in the future when entering into any contract. I just wish a little more attention to detail was given on my most special day. A little more emails or phone calls to keep in touch with me before the wedding so everything could have gone smoother. I will say for the B&B that it is a beautiful property, neat animals to feed, the most amazing breakfasts, and adorable suites and cottages.

We did not find this B&B user friendly for the older traveler. Our "cottage" had no shower, though the jacuzzi had great water pressure, but cumbersome to get in and out of. The bed was too high for either of us to managed without a stool, with only one available it was difficult to deal with. Not all of the wooden blinds functioned, so it was necessary to close each slat by hand. In fairness, we did not complain as some of the issues would not impact younger folks.
The young man who welcomed us was very helpful and courteous.
The breakfast arrived on time and was beautifully presented and tasty.
We enjoyed the many cats on the property, but anyone not a feline lover might find their presence annoying. I have to add that the practice of breakfast trays being placed on the porch to be picked up, might better be replaced by an inroom pick up to avoid the cats eating off the lovely antique china.

We stayed there March 6-8,this year, and were told we would not get breakfast due to unforeseeable events. We agreed to stay as long as we were refunded for not receiving breakfast. We were told the owner would mail us a check. We never received a refund, no one ever answers the phone, and their email gets returned everytime. Won't go there again. What's a bed and breakfast with no breakfast?

Read all reviews carefully here and at other sites before booking a stay at Serenity Farmhouse Inn! While the place is set in a beautiful, serene location, the unprofessional behavior and poor treatment of guests by the owner can not be overlooked.

We rented Gabriella's Hut, which was quaint and delightful despite a few problems like seeping water across the threshold and the garden tub not working 100%. Of all the reviews I read, it seems that the majority of complaints came from dealings with the owner.

Our biggest problem was the owner's attitude and unprofessional behavior toward us. I always give businesses the benefit of the doubt and form my own opinion. Unfortunately, I should have heeded the negative reviews.

We ended up leaving our key in the room our first evening. Because there was no one on site to assist at 10:45 p.m., we had no option but to get in by breaking a back window. She does not answer emergency calls even when she receives a message from guests. She told us she could not understand the message we left that night. If you receive a message of any sort at your emergency number, it would seem you might call back at the very least or send someone out to check on the situation.

We promptly reported the incident and offered to pay for (and did pay for) damages incurred which should have been enough. However, the owner made a comment that she could have called the police on us for vandalism. We were also told this wasn't her first time to make such a threat to guests. I felt the comment was inappropriate and unprofessional to say the least, and it spoiled the remainder of our trip.

I will say the service by the rest of the staff was outstanding. Breakfast was delicious and delivered on time.

I had hoped to return each year to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but as long as the current owner is there, I will not subject myself to what I consider rude behavior and poor treatment.

This was the worse trip ever! We went for our anniversary...when we got there our room was still a disaster from the last guests and had not been cleaned! There was no staff on site and we headed home because of this...half way home our 15 phone calls had finally been returned (2 hours after the first call). They said they would go now and clean it...we said we would take our time headed back to the room so they had time to clean it...when we got back around 9:30pm...the room had not been cleaned still and the staff was still not on site! We were able to find a shed with cleaning supplies and chose to clean our own room because we were tired and several hours from home...and my husband was focused on making our anniversary perfect. We made several calls that night and they were never answered! The next morning when the owners were there for the breakfast they saw us and ignored us until everyone else was served. Then they said they were soooo sorry and told us our room would be free for the first night and they would clean it the second day.

We ended up being billed for both days...they refused to discount our room...and offered a free nights stay at a later time...LIKE WE WOULD EVER GO BACK!!!!

This was the worst trip I have ever been on and would not suggest this place to my worst enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER rent from Serenity Farmhouse, unless you are willing to have your paid-in-full reservation cancelled at the last minute.

I made a reservation to rent Serenity Farmhouse (all 3 bedrooms) in March of 2010 for my family. My credit card was charged the full amount in April; I paid the full amount in May; received a "confirmation" email 1 week prior to my arrival in June. Then, 3 days before my arrival, I received a phone call telling me Serenity Farmhouse was NOT AVAILABLE, and I had to find another place to stay. Sherry (the owner) cancelled my reservation even though I made the reservation more than 3 months in advance, paid in full, was sent an email confirmation, and was due to arrive in 3 days! Luckily, I found another place to stay in Wimberley at the last minute, with no help or compensation from Sherry Elkin!

While talking with the Chamber of Commerce and several other business owners in Wimberley, I found out that I am the THIRD person in 2010 who thought they had a reservation, only to find their "reservation" is cancelled at the last minute! Sherry (the owner) has a habit of accepting reservations, taking your money, and then telling you Serenity Farmhouse is "not available" shortly before you are due to arrive. I also learned the red heart-shaped hot tub is full of algae and other gross things.

I have NEVER experienced such a poor business ethic from anyone else anywhere else in my life. Help me put Sherry (the owner) out of business!!

Fell into the trap and bought the voucher - get the crappy (not very clean) room attached to the office. Service isn't good either. We won't be staying the night. Hope a place in town has availability.

Response from serenityfarmhouseinn, Owner at Serenity Farmhouse Inn

I honestly do not know what to say to this review. If the room was not clean, it should have been reported to me. I can assure all of our future guests that each of our rooms are extensively cleaned every morning between 11am (checkout) and 3pm (check in). Our rooms are all cute, classy, and clean. If the room was dirty, it should have been brought to my attention, and it would have been immediately corrected or a full refund would have been given. I have a question: If the room was really that bad and dirty, why was there no request for a refund or re-cleaning? Perhaps this person simply did not like the room nor being in the country -- which is ok with me, they still would have been offered a refund or another room.

I checked reviews before purchasing the Living Social deal and thought this would be the perfect place for me and my husband to just relax and be removed from the outside world. If possible I would give a 2 1/2 rating, but I have to say that the hot tub experience was horrific. We stayed in the Texas Room because it was the most wheelchair accessible. We were treated very nice and all involved were exceptionally nice and accommodating. The main reason we picked this room was the hot tub. We could not wait to relax and just be together. I noticed right away that the tub wasn't as clean as it could be, so I rinsed it to prepare for our time in the hot tub. We started the water and it seemed to have some dirt/debris, so I again rinsed it out. I finally went ahead and started filling up the tub. Things were good at that time and we got into the tub. Then I made the BIG mistake of turning on the hot tub jets!!! Oh my goodness...debris, dirt and who knows what else came spewing out from the jets into the water we were in. I couldn't even look to see what it was in the tub and my husband, knowing how sick I would be if I looked at this, made me get out and and not come back in. He then proceeded to get the video camera to take some footage for the Owner to see. It took hours for the water to drain from the tub (another problem). My husband did go and speak with the Owner and showed her the video. She was very apologetic and sorry. She sent us a bottle of wine and chocolates in response to our dissatisfaction with the hot tub incident. She also said that she would give us a certificate for another visit, free of charge to make up for it. It has been 3 weeks and we still have not received that certificate? I hope it is just an oversight and hope to receive it soon. We want to give them another try. There were some other drainage problems in the room as well, in the kitchen sink. Overall, it is a beautiful place, great service and wonderful breakfast (apple turnovers are fantastic). I hope that this can be addressed and if we are given another chance (free certificate), I'd love to be able to write a great review. It is up to the Owner at this point.

the good - nice grounds, hard bed, cute cabin

the bad - NOT romantic, did not receive fireside package as ordered, no ice, no shampoo, no tea, maintenance hammering on wall before breakfast, overcharged taxes, 15% service fee (for what?),

the ugly - roaches, frogs in pool, slimy coffee maker, cracked coffee cup, dirty tea cups
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are trying to sell romance and I purchased a voucher and made reservations to go on our 36th anniversary. The plan was to get there early and stay late (3PM check-in and 11AM check-out) and just hang out and take it easy.
We did not receive the fireside package that was suppose to come with the voucher (firewood, wine, fine chocolates, homemade soap, rose petals). There was a note on the door saying I could buy firewood. I asked for the wine, chocolate and other items and was brought chocolates and a very small soap. I ask again for the wine and they said they did not know where it was maybe someone went to the store to get some and was given more soap. I had brought white wine from home but there was no ice (no ice machine or even an ice tray) available to chill it with. Three hours later I let them know if the wine was not available I was planning to go buy some red wine. They told me they had the wine, then got back with me to tell me to go the the grocery store myself, bring back the receipt and they would reimburse me. Town is about 15 minutes away, so getting the wine took about 4 hours and we had to use our own gas and time to go to the store. I never got the firewood or the rose petals. So much for getting there early and just hanging out.

We went out to the pool and I put my feet in and drank some of the wine. There were three frogs on the other side of the pool splashing around. There was also algae in the pool so I did not go swimming.

We woke up in the middle of the night and my dh saw a roach on the wall - yes it was a German roach, we killed a spider and saw another garden bug.

Because of the bugs I checked the coffee maker water reservoir and it was slimy. I tried to wash it out but could not. I looked around but they did not have any tea.

Early in the morning they started hammering in the next room to install an AC unit before breakfast was even served. So much for sleeping late. When breakfast was served I explained the coffee maker problem to the hotel staff and asked if I could have a cup of coffee when she was done serving breakfast. About on hour later she brought a jar of coffee grounds.

We went to the office to turn in our receipt for the wine. At this point I noticed I was overcharged for taxes and this property's 15% service fee (for using a voucher? or what?)
We did get this straightened out but I still had not gotten a cup of coffee. I let the manager know about the coffee pot and was told it would be cleaned but I still had not had a cup of coffee. I let her know that the fireside package had not been fully delivered and that no one seemed to know what it was yet I know she sold 250 vouchers that included the package. There was no response.

We left early so I could have a morning cup of coffee. We just did not feel welcome.
