Hotel is perfectly located, just outside Oberstdorf. Staff is friendly and "per Du". Pizza or Flammkuchen, together with a Weizen, is all you need after a long day walking. Hint: go to Tourist Information for a perfect walking guide for the winter season (EUR 3) - the trips, shown in the lobby on the touch screen, are for summer purposes only. For the summer season, they have also a guide (EUR 8). Be prepared that all pubs (incl. Hütten) will be closed in December, until Christmas - even when it is indicated that they are open...

Pretty stylish hotel in a quiet location between Fischen and Oberstdorf. Somewhere between youth hostel and designer hotel.
Friendly agile staff, a really great breakfast and Help center with hiking; or cycling tours if desired.
To Oberstdorf a bus leaves within 4 minutes y by bike it takes 8 and on foot 26.
Shortcoming: there was nothing with announced mountain views. Instead, McDonald's and a garage driveway.
Room (especially the bathroom) nicely decorated, but no reasonable seating.
But otherwise great!

In a modern would expect a proper restaurant. Rooms are to small. As are the blanket / duvet, not long enough and much too small. bathroom was under water after every shower. nothing solved after we mentioned it at the reception. no table and chairs in the bedroom.

Very clean and modern hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, if you want to walk into Oberstdorf centre it takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Breakfast had lots of choice and it had the facility to cook your own omelette etc.

The hotel delivers what it promises and if all 3 star hotels were the same, that would be great. Located a bit outside the city, so car is essential. The room was clean, tidy and quiet. In fact I hardly heard any of the other guests. Hotel seeks to be stylish and achieves it with a low key, simple and modern design. Breakfast Buffett was ok, too - if you fancy a typical German breakfast, you won't miss a lot, not even different types of breads.

If you think location is important when you choose an hotel, you will want to double check before you choose this one. Fancy hearing every drive-in order repeated on the loudspeaker of the local McDonald's ? You'll get it. Want to be able to count every car entering Obersdorf ? You'll be in a commanding position, less than an hundred from the bridge to town (mind, the railways tracks are not very much farther). Those two feats can be achieved on your 40cm wide balcony (no chair in the room for that matter: just where could you put it ?). Do it yourself is the motto of the place : go and find your tumbler in the sauna room, prepare your own omelette. A rather daring concept when they charge you up to 100 Euros per night at peak dates. And do not trust a bill that waives a charge: you'll get it nethertheless on your credit card before you reach home

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. The location of the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf is such that our guests have the bike trails and the hiking trails right from the doorstep. Too bad that you enjoy our fresh design concept like no budget, in which the guest can try it for yourself as well as times (such as myself fry eggs, potter working on his bike, etc .....). We have deliberately left out some things in the bathroom such as the disposable toothbrush cup - "the environment's sake." On request, glasses at the bar which you can then use as a tumbler. Our trendy Explorer rooms have plenty of space to relax. The highlight is the cozy window seat with cushions. The rooms are very functional with lots of shelves, hooks, shelves and cabinets - perfect for guests who come with a lot of sports equipment to us. Our prices in the Explorer Hotel is very simple structure, we differ depending on the season, midweek and weekend. (From € 39.80 you can already book a night with us.) The hotel is quite nice, but it is way overprized. 130€ for one night in a rather small room. The double rooms come with two matresses with a 10cm gap inbetween. There are not even mugs for drinking. The shower water doesn't run off - the whole bath will be wet for hours after you shower. The cleaning personal entered multiple times although we asked for privacy. I would recommend to stay in the surroundings at smaller private places rather than at this "hip" hotel (which is situated right along the main road as well).

Some food is available at the bar but if is limited, it is located next to a burger restaurant and there seemed to be a number of local restaurants within a couple of kilometres of the hotel.
