The resort of Serre-Chevalier is home to the Village, designed as a large hamlet of about fifteen chalets. Its typical rooftops and facades in wood and stone, is in total harmony with the decor. Inside, the spaciousness and warm decoration of the lounges in the style of family rooms create a holiday location. Everyone can thoroughly devote themselves to their favourite activities, whether in the Snow Garden, on the slopes of the ski domain, in the indoor swimming pool or in the Club Med Spa*.

My husband Rohit and I had our first Club Med experience this week and we loved it! Our daughter Piya particularly had a fantastic time at Baby Club Med and we never worried for her while we were out on the slopes.

In particular, Manon became our daughter Piya’s firm favourite and she looked forward to seeing her every day. All the staff who looked after her were incredible - Marie, Jade, Lisa, Melanie and Marie in particular.

We would be honoured to have the chance to have them care for our dear daughter again

I went here as a first time skier and was thoroughly impressed.

The lessons I had were great, our instructor, Perrine, made us feel very safe and made learning to ski very enjoyable. She was very knowledgeable and quickly got to know us all giving the experience a very personal touch.

The food at breakfast, lunch, dinner and the snacks in between were also excellent. There was a good range for people with allergies and vegetarians. Most food was cooked fresh before your eyes and nothing left me disappointed. The choices of drinks at the bar was also good. There was plenty of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails to choose from, all of which were served by very friendly and fun staff.

The rooms were spacious and clean. Perfect for what is needed on a ski holiday. However, the room numbering/lettering system was confusing and it was not really explained during check in so there was a lot of faffing trying to locate our rooms.

We went as a group of 45. Ages ranging from 14-60 and we are all looking in to booking on to another Clubmed all inclusive holiday soon.

This was my first Club Med ski experience and I loved it! Having a dedicated guide for the whole week ensured that you maximized your exposure to the mountain at trails suited to your level, As typical to Club Med's, the rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The food was of good quality with different choices each day. And it was nice to have an all inclusive ski vacation where you know all your costs in advance which were fairly reasonable considering what was provide and the alternatives.

After a chaotic start to the holiday we had a great week. Helped by perfect weather and great conditions.
Hopefully this review can help you decide if Club Med Serre-Chevalier is for you.....
Positive
* Food - lots of choice every mealtime. Catered well for different dietary preferences and children. Food of a great standard.
* Large clean rooms.
* Great location and overall ski area for intermediates (beginners who are unable to ski a small part of a red run will need to get one of the hotels frequent buses to and from the ski lift).
* Friendly staff
* Truly all-inclusive. We wouldn't have spent a euro the entire holiday except for ski badges (€8 each!!) and photos of the kids.

Things to consider
* No opportunity for children to eat before 7pm. Combine this with a 7:30 wake up each day there was little opportunity for them to get enough sleep (and the ski instructors then told us off because the kids were tired!)
* babies are not taken outside by the childcare team. So their holiday is basically confined to the hotel.
* The swimming pool temperature is cold but too small for swimming lengths
* The younger children (<6) didn't enjoy the childcare.
* It's a big hotel and if something goes wrong you may not get personalised service. E.g. Kids skis go missing and their default approach was to let a 6 year old miss their lesson despite a rental centre being in the hotel boot room.

We have just returned from a brilliant week in which our group of 45 had a fantastic time with brilliant value for money.
The bar staff were great especially Jason and put up with our best efforts of drinking it dry, And the whole hotel conga via the bar was a brilliant touch.
Ulysiss was a brilliant host, entertainer, and musician and was always friendly and helpful.
Our rooms were cleaned every day
Food was brilliant
Ski in and out was good although the bubble lift you have to take took about half an hour to reach the top.
All in all a brilliant week and a big thanks to all the staff for putting up with us!

Club med serre chevalier review. I have a lot I want to say about my first club med experience, but let me sum it up.
Not worth the money!

1. Parking isn’t free considering you pay a lot for all inclusive hotel.

2. All inclusive is not really all inclusive as champagne / sparkling wine are extra. One restaurant on site and it’s not open during the full day.

3. No shower outside near the pool area.

4. Restaurant is only open at specified times. No snacks in between except dried processed cakes. They advised on other days they do more (but not Saturday)

5. One of the bars (only two on site) is closed on Saturday.

6. Only one restaurant! It gets incredibly packed at the restaurant and you end up waiting in lines.

7. Rooms and hotel are outdated, need to be updated. Furniture looks like it’s from 1960s. No plugs near the bed so forget charging your phone near you. Doors don’t lock automatically so you need to lock the door to your room. Lights automatically turn off but don’t turn on when movement occurs.

8. Bathroom smells like vomit, sewage, or old pee. We only stayed here one night as we couldn’t stand it here.

9. Social distancing is not respected.

10. Really slow wifi, can’t access internet

11. Only one pool available, no slides and it’s not that big. Difficult if you want to relax at the pool.

12. Really early checkout (10 am) with no flexibility even though check in as at 15h. Makes it difficult to sleep in, have a lazy breakfast, etc.

Things that could be improved:
Fresh food and varied but you don't really know what you eat. We are leaving in a world of allergies, food intolerance, so the lack of ingredients in a dish, it seemed to me like a problem especially when the staff who prepared the food was not English speakers and there was no one to ask for clarification.
The main dishes had a label with a general description, many of them did not have at all and others had the label "vegetarian". One day I saw this vegetarian label in front of a salad that had lots of ham in it.
Friendly staff, young, without too much experience, smiling but not really paying attention to what you say or did not understand English.
If the level of my spoken English can have any degree, those who work in the hotel industry must be advanced.
Although I paid for a 7 nights stay I left one day earlier. I made this decision when I purchase the holiday. It was included in the holiday package the transfer from airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport. The evening before leaving I asked at the reception at what time my transfer to the airport is scheduled. They checked me in the system and I was told that at 8:45 am. The next day I went down to hand over the room and I was told that I had no scheduled transfer for Saturday but for Sunday morning. The solution was to pay a taxi worth 250 euro, to request a receipt and to recover my money in Romania, from the agency where I purchased the vacation.
It was a beautiful vacation but sometimes is the little things that matter more than the smiles and the imposed conversation.

I have stayed in and visited other Club Meds and loved them. However, we visited Serre Chevalier Club Med for an evening as non residents and it was appalling. It is 65 Euros per person for dinner and drinks, but it is FAR from being worth this. The service at the bar and at the counters in the dining area ranged from indifferent to downright rude. We had 2 separate members of staff be rude to us. No one came near our table, no one took a wine order, no one cleared plates from the table and overall it felt like being in a very downmarket cafeteria. The food was OK, but not as good as the other Club Meds I've been to. Also, the 65 Euro fee allows you to use the pool, but not the sauna, there is an additional charge for this (which also applies to residents). I complained to the reception staff about the total lack of service; they failed to pass this on. I then complained to the duty manager who said she would contact me the following day; she did not. I wrote a detailed letter to the manager, and surprise, surprise, there was no response either. I can't comment on what it is like to stay here, but given our experiences I would not consider booking in here in future. The poor service and lack of responsiveness to complaints did not inspire confidence, which is a shame as it's a great place to ski and I'd previously been considering booking this hotel for next season.

All day lessons with ESF instructors are brilliant, the resort is varied enough for beginners and more experienced skiers. The ski equipment and ski service in Club Med is really good, but over priced when compared to local hiring. I hired my wife boots as it was only her second ski trip and felt the £50 / £70 option on the boots was excessive, but as we were arriving late it was the only option to fit in with the 9am lesson start for the following morning. We had 3 in the party requiring Gluten free options, and whilst there are plenty of options and the quality is great, it would reduce the need to seek assistance at every meal if the food stations included allergen labelling. Over the 2 years I've visited, I've never come across a grumpy member of staff and we will potentially revisit next year. Pre holiday information is good, but like so many online processes, as soon as something went wrong, for us it was not receiving the Easy Arrival email to pre book ski equipment and lessons, it took 3 emails and 2 calls to get someone to complete the information on our behalf.
