The lounge area and bar, where breakfast is served, has been refurbished in a modern Scandanavian style. It was a nice area to sit and relax and there are plenty of board games and books available.
Breakfast was nice with a good variety available, including various homemade jams.
We used the spa area once during our stay which was realaxing, although you do have to pre-book and pay for it (only 7 euros whislt we were there).
The rooms need an update and I imagine this is what the owners have planned. Beds were comfy and our room was very quiet. Only shame is we had a bath (not huge so if you're tall or on the larger side this could be an issue). A shower would be better.
Finally the hotel is in a great location to the lifts and plenty of restaurants. We would recommend it.
There's a small ski / boot room on the 1st floor. It's quire small so at busy times this could be an issue but it was never a problem for us.
Negatives: We only had baths in our bedrooms which for anyone over 5' 10" were tad cozy. The sauna was nice, but the staff didn't always switch it on (50/50 in terms of on or not during our 4 days). Breakfast is basic and doesn't offer much in terms of daily options; the egg cooker was also unreliable. Despite the sign suggesting 3 minutes for a soft boiled egg, 15 minutes was needed and then only half the egg was done. Small niggles in the overall scheme of things

The rooms are very comfortable and clean.
There is a great selection for breakfast plus fruit juice and lovely coffee.
Safe store for skis and gear.
The rooms are larger than my previous french trip so we were both able to open our ski bags and fill the wardrobe up. The bathroom was beautifully completed and they had the usual shampoos, shower gels etc.
The beds can be mixed - we requested double and it was a twin but you can move the side tables around. The following day when we came back from the slopes they'd put on a double mattress and bedding to complete the job. Our room had access to the balcony that ran around the hotel and was furthest from the nightclub - I'm a light sleeper but still didn't hear any noise. We were in room 106, so rooms 206 etc would be fine too.
There is a mini-bar in the room that is re-stocked daily and quite cheap. Also a safe.
The breakfast is cold with fruit juice, eggs, cheese, ham, coffee tea, cereals, pastries, yoghurt and sometimes cold toast..and you eat in the reception which is great for people watching.
The ski room isn't dry enough to put your boots in - you need to take your linings our and put them in your room.
The ladies in the reception can speak English (we managed some pigeon French back...) and will handle any problems you have. Two people in our group came down with the flu and the receptionist helped them with a wee kettle for their lemsips and pastries for their lunches.
Internet access is free - just watch the keyboard - always catches me out.
The restaurant attached to the hotel is brilliant value. We had half board and our 3-course daily meals were too much to eat mostly. I recommend their double-chocolate mousse. We also ate from the a-la-carte menu at extra cost which was great food.
Close proximity to a few chair lifts - can't remember the names of them but I think it was the Frejus and Casse de Boeuf gondola/chairlift that was closest. Stop in at Le Frog if you fancy a Scottish/French pub. It has seats overlooking the slopes - great for sunny lunches.
I recommend this hotel - great job, bigger than your average French place in a ski village, close to the pharmacy, cafes and village-bars and intersport.
The rooms are clean and adequate without particular charm and noise insulation between rooms is not very good. The hand held shower head over the unenclosed bath is a bit of a frustration after a days skiing when you just want to stand under a nice warm shower.
Breakfast at 12 euro per head was typical European and again adequate.
Overall this is a good hotel notwithstanding the limitations referred to.
The Mont-Thabor is in a very handy spot, a short walk (2 mins. at most) from the Aravet lift base (ski rental, lift pass office, ski school meeting point) and also just across the river from the rue de la Guisane in the old village of Villeneuve, where the bulk of the restaurants are to be found, plus a handful of nice bars. If you're arriving by car, take the "private parking" with a pinch of salt; what they really mean is that you can leave you car in the open public area nearby.
Although the hotel is on the main road through the resort, noise wasn't a problem. You have a handy back entrance from the first floor, giving you a quick walking route via pretty back lanes to the Aravet gondola and Mickey draglift (useful for gaining height and gliding over to Casse du Boeuf chairlift and Frejus gondola).
Arriving for a long weekend in low season, we were happy to be able to check in immediately at around 12 noon. The staff were very friendly and ready with advice, at least in French. There were no anglophone guests so no idea how multilingual they are.
Double room facing away from the road was very quite and well insulated and had a good view of the sun rising over the mountains in the morning. Huge and comfortable bed and plenty of storage, including a safe. A proper shower fitting in the bathroom might have been good.
Free access to the sauna, hammam and jacuzzi from 4-8pm. The sauna was very welcome and just the right temperature after a day of sub-zero temperatures on the slopes.
Plenty of choice at breakfast, including good fresh bread and pastries, all served in the open lobby area. This is the only part of the hotel where the free wifi is available, which seems a bit stingy.
Wanting to get out and explore a bit, we didn't try the restaurant out, although the menu sounded perfectly OK. No idea if the bar/club was working but it was a low-season week and the whole village was pretty quiet.
In conclusion, definitely worth staying here. In the real world, 150 euros a night for what you get here would seem a bit steep but ski resorts are not the real world and it's certainly a comfortable, convenient option.
It was built 3 years ago and OK so the rooms are smaller than your average US hotel, but the food and modern facilities more than make up for it.
We stayed for a week on a half board basis (inc dinner). We also found out that our tour company reps actually booked their families into this place when they come over to visit.
The restauarant, whilst not cheap for outsiders, fed us some excellent meals, and the hosts were very accommodating, adapting their menu to suit other customers' food preferences eg vegetarian or no pork etc. which in France is pretty unusual.
The hotel also has a great relaxation suite, with a large sauna, steam room and jacuzzi open every evening. I made good use of all three - they saved me from getting really stiff, having not done that much exercise before our trip.
The hotel is just a 3 minute walk to the nearest ski lift and beginners slope.
