Our arrival was unpleasant, as a local lady of the night was loitering in the lobby. I suppose it’s due to the bad area. However, the room was ok, even though the bed was very squeaky if you rolled over at night, which was annoying. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The reception staff were ok, the breakfast lady was very wonderful 5 stars and the cleaning lady was also very kind. This hotel has a location close to the Voula beach and many restaurants. The pool area was nice for sunbathing and swimming. The overall experience was quite good.

We stayed here for a wedding in the area. Personally I'd never been to a beach hotel, but was very impressed by this (my first) one - the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean. The bed seemed hard but maybe the right description is "firm" as I slept very well. The pool is very nice indeed. The hotel is very well located with private (payable) beaches just across the road and public beaches in 5 minutes walk, a tram to central Athens also 5 minutes walk away and a bus to the airport just outside the hotel.

All in all, a nice experience and I would recommend it.

The Golden Sun was a good choice for us on a recent 2 night pre -island then 3 night post- island trip to Greece. The ride to and from the Airport is about 1/2 hr at 30 EUs. Reception (especially Tatianna) and lobby is welcoming and public facilities and lounge areas are kept clean and comfortable. Pool exceptionally large with plenty of lounges although a little noisy from traffic, kept sparkling clean and is very welcomed after hot days in the brilliant Greek sun. Complimentary breakfast is served in a big dinning room off the pool with open sliding glass doors. Good variety, although pretty typical for hotel buffets with hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, an omlette with a filling, lots of pastries and croissants, cereal and good coffee. We thought it the best of all the places we stayed. Elevators to the rooms, very handicapped accessible.
The room: the beds are very firm , (as we found in every hotel we stayed in). This hotel did have rooms with softer ones if available when requested and were happy to move us. The linens and towels, snowy white and high quality. One neg: pool towels are not replaced unless you are willing to pay $3 service fee, so hang them on you balcony railing to dry. The only other neg. is the silly shower doors that are 1/2 of a cafe swinging door that covers only 1/2 the tub. Its almost impossible not to spray out the 1/2 open side of the tub. The floor has a drain, pretty much needed with that set up.
The air cond. was just adequate if left on during the day. Leave the drapes shut to help.
The hotel is 10 mins from beaches and ocean, across a 4 lane highway, with a light- safe enough for pedestian crossing. Check out Ballux, about 10 mins walk. The tram , which accesses all of Athens is 8 mins walk to stop and 1.40 eu. Downtown Glyfada is a 15 min walk, with great restaurants (Mezze, TeaTea, ) cool shopping, bakeries, and a cool, vibrant night life with sidewalk cafes full of people after 9pm. Being used to eating 3-4 hours before bed we tended to be early birds at 7 or 8pm. Once we got our bearings, we found this hotel very convenient. Taxi to port is about 25 Euros, ask for a price.

Aged hotel with sad entrance, old furniture, broken bed, burn out lights. What is most annoying is the level of customer service, they are not flexible, apologetic or anything. Check in after a long flight and the room was boiling hot, kept looking for AC control unit in the room and after 20 minutes or so found it behind the bed headboard. A relic of the 60's off course, didn't work, and when i called downstairs their answer was to keep the window open to noisy street. When i mad a fuss they refused for me to refund and leave, and changed my room to a worst much smaller room on the other side of the hotel. The rooms are old, worn out, the linen is scratchy, lumpy flat pillows, and what is most annoying the shower head was changed and doesn't match its holder anymore, so you have to hold the shower head with one hand and bath with the other! The breakfast looks like it was previously eaten, sad limited variety, my friends just opted to have breakfast elsewhere every morning. Checked out the next day and moved to another hotel close by, much much much better, two streets away, and surprisingly cheaper!! Have invoice to prove it...

The hotel is a gem the staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the beaches walking distance to Glyfada and transport. Close to all cafes and restaurants, bars and shops.
Great breakfasts in the morning. It felt like home every time i stayed there. Very clean rooms. The pool was great and relaxing and carefree. The menu for lunch and dinner was great loved the salads and cocktails. Will definitely go back there. My trip there in 2019 was beautiful and amazing with my daughters. Definitely a place to stay at. Actually it has become one of my favourite hotels. I called it my second home.

We stumbled on this hotel by accident, looking for a place to stay on our last night in Greece. It is priced at a similar level with 3-star hotels around Omonia square (and 2-star hotels around Syntagma), but is suprisingly luxurious and comfortable. It has large rooms and balconies, nice breakfast with hot omelet and sausage, great bathrooms with shower curtains (rarity in Greek hotels), moderately priced room service with ice cream and fruits, ample parking on the street, very large pool and great stuff. Also, there is a tram stop a block from the hotel, where you can board a new air-conditioned tram and be in downtown Athens in 45 minutes. The only negative is that the drive to the airport is through a very industrialized area, with traffic lights every quarter mile that all seem to turn red just as you come up to them.

This hotel should be investigated by the tourist bureau in Athens. If one thing made me rethink my affection for Greece would be this hotel mis-managed by its staff. Anyone that has children should think twice before booking here as you may be find surprises.

A hotel you have to avoid at all costs (I know this expression is a cliche, but this is a case where it applies perfectly!).
Rooms had been unfurbished for decades (we stayed there after the Olympic games, so if there were any refurbishment we would have been able to experience it). This is not much of a problem, but rooms were giving out the odour of old and rotten (I am sure you know what I mean). The same for the bathroom, which had black tiles and was giving the feel of unclean to the extend that we took only one shower over three days and only because we really had to! Keep in mind that I have been to the special forces, so naturally I am not a squeamish kind of person (neither over-sensitive, this is for the experiences below)!
Breakfast was average, small selection, but ok if the rest were acceptable.
Staff were indifferent at best (i.e., only one young person in the reception was like that) and rude/aggressive at normal! Many examples! I was "ordered" by the staff member in breakfast that I must not pick from a particular bowl of cereals with a particular type of spoon! I was almost verbally attacked with insults when I called the recemption to ask for ironing facilities (how could I ask for this on a Sunday?)"! We were passing through the reception with a friend we had met after many years going to the room to take my jacket to go out for dinner when we were told (in a high tone) by the manager(?) that we will have to pay additional rate for going with an additional person to the room!
We were surpised that the hotel has a swimming pool. Normally, you have to have basic manners to offer such facilities!
The advice is to avoid at all costs (unless you are a social scientist or a marketing consultant and you want material for your research!). I believe you can find easily another hotel in Glyfada. Even picking randomly I do not think there is any possibility to fall into something even remotely as bad.

We stayed here for 3 nights & the staff could not have been more friendly & helpful especially Tatania.
It's on the bus route from the Airport & 2 mins from the tram to central Athens & a fantastic beach bar. We had a clean spacious room with a powerful shower although the beds were a bit firm for me.
Breakfast was limited but staff were happy to serve us even though we turned up at 2 mins past 10am.

En route to this so called "4 star hotel" we passed several abandoned and dilapidated buildings, as well as some rather questionable characters and generally unpleasant scenery - after thinking we would be entering one of the best suburbs in Athens.
Upon arrival we were greeted relatively nicely by the receptionist and given our room key.
Within 4 minutes, we soon realised that the images displayed on this hotels website were only an aspiration of what this hotel may one day hope to achieve.
Booking this room under the pretense of the description (newly renovated) and photos, the reality that stood before us was extremely tired and dated looking decor (circa 1968) as well as filthy carpet and a door that did not close without the force of a flying kick.
Attempting to brush this off (as not to ruin our stay), we put down our bags to lay on the "bed".
I emphasise the word bed because I believe concrete slab is a more appropriate term.
As well as this, we noticed a somewhat repugnant smell lingering in the room.
After some careful investigation, we opened (what used to be) a refrigerator and discovered the cause to be a puddle of stale water.
The only moderate commendation of the room I can give is the bathroom appeared relatively new - and this was later used against us in what transpired with the hotel's receptionist.
With the above in mind, we went down to reception to discuss why our room differed so vastly to what was displayed on Booking.com and their own website.
We were told that all rooms in the hotel were the same and only the colour schemes differed. When we showed her a photo of what was on the website, we were told that this was a professional photograph and it was indeed exactly the same as the room we were given.
We also asked about the misleading description, which stated Newly Renovated.
The response: "The bathrooms were renovated 3 years ago".
Due to our extreme dissatisfaction, we requested a refund as we refused to endure 5 nights at this hotel.
One of the hotels proprietors came down and took over from the receptionist and explained as we had booked a non-refundable room, we were not entitled to a refund.
However to her credit, she was pleasant to deal with and decided to meet us half way with a 50% refund.
I don't know whether the good reviews of this hotel were left by people with extremely low standards, or if the hotel staff purposely gave us the run around, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
Avoid like the plague!
