While on business in Athens we were looking for a great place to spend the weekend. We chose the Grand Resort Lagonissi and this was the right choice. First of all we were offered an upgrade! Once moved in our room (#211) we changed for the swim suit immediately and short time after we jumped in to the sea. Dinner at the restaurant Ouzeri - breath taking view, open air, grilled fish (catch of the day), Greek wine, charming service, live music - all the ingredients for a great start into the weekend. Saturday and Sunday were planned to relax, enjoy the sun, the sea, the atmosphere of the resort. We decided to extend into Monday morning - perfect decision. Thanks to the whole GRL team for this excellent weekend. We will be back.
This resort was an unexpected surprise for us: though on the expensive side, if you're looking for a room that opens up to the sea, beaches with only a few people on them, access to both sandy and more populated beaches or pebbles but having sometimes the beach to yourself and in general having some solitude and quality time by the sea - this is for sure the place. We have stayed in a mediterranean suite overlooking the sea, spacious and quiet with a large balcony and since we had a late returning flight we could check out at 4PM without paying extra - which was really nice and helpful. I think the cleaning service could be better - but honestly the combination of such a tranquil and nice place and the sea and sun makes you overlook this. Good breakfast - varied.
Spent 2 nights in a Mediterranean Bungalow and had a wonderful time. Although it is true that the rooms are starting to show their age, that didn't take away from our experience. The room was nicely furnished, spacious, and with a stunning view of the sea and sunset. There is also access to a small quiet cove with beautiful clear water. What made the experience most memorable though was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, courteous, and helpful. First time visiting but we will definitely be back.
We were in Grand Resort during the weekend 17-18 July as our friends were having a baptism at the resort and we were among some of the guests who decided to stay at the hotel. When we woke up in the morning, went into the bathroom, discovered a huge cockroach sitting right on the sink. I will not go into the details of what happened...for the hotel of this status, you would expect that they would at least offer a complimentary dinner or a discounted stay, I mean - something! Just to own up to the mistake of having their customer wake up with a huge cockroach next to their toothbrushes!!!! Unfortunately nothing was offered or even mentioned! I wrote a detailed email to the manager of the hotel Mr Tzimas and he never replied to my email. For Grand Resort status - its completely unacceptable. We live 15 km away from the hotel and very often go to the hotel for dinners in the evening, swimming on the beach during the weekends, but after this nasty experience we will not go anywhere near this place. I understand mistakes happen and sometimes cockroaches find their way into a bathroom, but the hotel has to own up to it and make it right for the customer! When we come and spend a significant amount of money in a matter of 24 hrs, find a cockroach on our sink and nobody tries to even acknowledge it - that is just not right!…
I’m not the type who makes a review but this hotel left me very disappointed. The customer service and room cleaning kept at a very low level. Some 3-star hotels provide a better service. Receptions with kind voice say yes to answer to your request however you should call them more than 4 times to remind them. Poor hotel management. Room keeping survive isn't regular. One day you get clean glasses and complimentary water and then for the next 5 days, they won't be bothered to change your glasses and bring more water. Rooms aren't cleaned properly every time. The gym has a spider web on top of gym equipment and the gym area doesn't seem to be taken care of. Highly disappointed. Unfortunately, stayed here for 2 weeks.
