The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center garners admiration for its cleanliness and grand atmosphere, with guests consistently noting the spotless environment and festive decor. While its proximity to the airport is a plus, some guests feel it's not ideally located for accessing other attractions. Opinions on amenities and rooms are mixed; visitors enjoy the entertainment options but balk at additional costs and have encountered varying levels of comfort and upkeep in accommodations.
Service experiences also vary, with some praising staff attentiveness and others frustrated by delays. Many visitors, however, consider the resort's pricing to be on the steep side.

I always enjoy reading reviews by others! Curious to see how their experience was compared to ours. This place isn't cheap, that's for sure. The water park is accessible only by the hotel tram/shuttle. It does run pretty continuous so that's good. The bad is when everyone is trying to leave the park between 4-6pm. Those times seem to produce long lines of waiting! The lazy river is a lazy river, until all the tubes are gone and people are just walking the river! Then it becomes more like bumper cars in the water. The kids pool area is super fun looking and although we had no kids, they did seem to be enjoying it. No snacks or outside beverages are allowed as your bag is searched prior to boarding the tram. Food is good, but very overpriced. Mimosa bucket for $20 is a great value. The indoor pool @ the hotel is dark and dingy. We didn't get in it, but did look around. The outdoor pool @ the hotel is nice. The water was VERY cloudy. There is a restaurant/bar to order from, and at this location you can take your own cooler & food. Added bonus to go to the indoor pool and not water park! There is no lifeguard or supervision at this pool. Snacks one aftn @ the Riverwalk Cantina and dinner @ The Station (I think) were decent, but overpriced I felt. When looking at room pricing, don't forget to add the $26/daily resort fee (+ taxes) as well as the $25/daily fee to park (+ taxes). There is also a $45 daily valet fee. Rooms are nice, we overlooked the water & marina. By all means, if you are checking in I can only hope you are lucky enough to deal with Kimberly! She is fantastic! We needed two adjoining rooms and upon checking in one was ready, the other wasn't. She worked her ass off for us to try and find two rooms that were both clean & ready. She couldn't make that happen, but I really appreciated her efforts. Housekeeping didn't get to our room one evening until 5:30, that was a little disheartening. We did get late checkout so that was an added bonus! The valet area/pick-up/drop off always seemed to be in disarray. For a hotel/convention center as big as this is, you would think they would have a better system. Cars blocking lanes & unable to get through seemed to happen frequently. I think we will stay @ another Gaylord for next summers vacation & would certainly stay here again if ever in the area.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay and we will be back. The service was provided by ever staff member was wonderful. Check in and check out was flawless. We checked in online before we arrived so we did not have to wait in a line. There was a staff member with a cart when we arrived that quickly loaded the cart and brought us to our room. Same for check out. We downloaded the app so it was very convenient to chat with the front desk if we had questions or needed extra towels.
Paradise springs was perfect my my young children. The resort provided life jackets, which was great because I forgot to pack theirs and it was one less thing I had to bring back and forth to the room. Another thing that impressed me was how clean the bathrooms were at the water park. There was always someone in the restroom cleaning and mopping.
The atmosphere is very relaxing in the resort. The fitness center had ample equipment and disinfectant wipes. My only mistake was checking in on a Saturday. There were a few free entertainment options for the kids that they missed out on.
We did eat at Paradise springs and it was similar to other resorts regarding price. My family did enjoy the food. We did not eat at the resort because we wanted to eat local food at the nearby restaurants.
I absolutely recommend this resort and will be back.

Went to the Gaylord for a retreat so I can’t speak for activities and pool. The resort is indeed beautiful and huge. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. It has a mini fridge, coffee maker and complimentary 2 bottles of water daily. Plenty of places to eat. Room service is more like take out service, very limited menu, and $5 delivery fee plus tip. This resort is expensive. Starting with the room cost plus a $25 resort fee plus $20 daily parking if you park yourself or $45 daily for valet parking which I thought my car was going to be parked in a parking garage. It was obviously parked in a lot as it was covered in bird poop. Service is good. Everyone was polite and helpful. Food is expensive too. As a reference of how the rest of the food places are, there is a gelato stand and it cost me $26 for three scoops of ice cream. A pre packaged sandwich, chips and a drink $23. I’m not sure the cost is worth it but if you decide to go, be prepared to spend some serious money.

At first glance all seemed to be grand but things quickly changed when we got into our room. Everything is just a little outdated for the price point of this “resort”. Everything from the carpet to the furniture to the room amenities just seemed old. It even had a smell to the place that wasn’t fresh…it was a very stale smell like something from a small town museum.
The external noises coming into the room were a little shocking. We could hear every one walking down the hallway, water running from other rooms and even the people at the the outdoor pool and we were on the 8th floor.
For dinner the first night we decided to stay at the resort. They have several restaurants. We ate at the “Texas Station”. We had a 40 minute wait and when we were finally seated, the restaurant was only about half full. I can only assume they didn’t have the staff to maintain full seating. Service was slow, very slow. Our waitress had about 8 tables and 2 of them had 8 or more people seated at them. We ordered fish and chips at the waitress’ recommendation and also the chicken tacos. The fish had to have been frozen. McDonalds fillet-o-fish has fresher tasting fish. The chicken in the tacos was very dry and ever cooked, most likely from being precooked and reheated. The soft corn tortillas were dry and rubbery. We couldn’t get drink refills because our waitress was way too busy to service our table properly. The manager came by to see how were were doing and refilled our drinks. We went ahead and ordered their fried apple pie as it was highlighted in their menu. It was dry and luke-warm…again indicating it had been precooked but this time they forgot to reheat it. Not a good meal at all especially for the overpriced cost.
In order to enjoy the resort to the fullest, you are also asked to pay a daily “resort” fee…which is price gouging as their room rates are not inexpensive. When trying to use the Locke rooms in the fitness center, we were told we had to pay the additional resort fee. It was then that we discovered there are so many up charges for thing…even when their app says things are “complimentary”.
If it were not for the conference that was being held at the facility, we would get out stay to 1 day have left to find a better facility…and that wouldn’t take much.
I’m not one to go to the counter and make a huge stink. I shouldn’t have to get upset and make a stink to get what I feel was advertised. All I can do is share my experience and let you make your own decision. I know that I certainly will never come back here.

Been visiting Gaylord Texan almost 20 years. As always, recent stay for trade show was excellent - service, food and accommodations. We had all meals on-site, why go anywhere else. Hot fresh burgers with fries and ice cold beer at Texan Station, delicious complete breakfast every morning at Riverwalk Cantina, and entertaining our customers each evening for dinner at Zeppole. The service, drinks and meals at all venues was exemplary. Special requests handled promptly and with warm smiles. For the high quality, ambiance and location, restaurant prices are very reasonable.
Front desk check-in took just a few minutes and the room was clean and crisp, housekeeping serviced daily on our schedule, very good. Used the laundry service, items nicely cleaned, pressed and returned on time to the room. The entire property is spotless, staff is always active cleaning/maintaining. Looking forward to returning...

This is our second visit to the resort, but it has been several years now. We were placed in the tower area on the 9th floor all the way to the back of the building. Not sure why so far away from the main area but it does add time when visiting the onsite amenities (gym, pool, restaurant, marketplace, etc..). If there is a next time, we will have to request a better convenient location. We did utilize room service which was rather prompt. Our room view was the roof of the nearby building. The shower room looked modern, but very slippery when soapy so be cautious. Room did come with a mini fridge but no microwave. We did see some filter water stations down the ballroom areas. The tower was housed next to the ballrooms and conference rooms. There was some type of school event that we could hear the music thump in our room. It died down by 10pm. There is shuttle service, but we had a family car and utilized the parking garage but with a daily fee. There is an onsite guard so if you have issues coming in and out, they can assist. Our cards did not work on the first day. There is an indoor pool but it can get filled with guests. Hotel is a bit over-priced, but it may be worth it for summertime as you can enjoy the outdoor pools. Just keep in mind for those “resort” fees and daily costs. We took advantage for an early stroll (6am) walked around and took in the scenery.

Room is huge (suite), comfortable and very very clean. But I do have a few complaints. First, the basic expectations were not met, like at least paper cups in the bathroom for brushing your teeth, now there is ONE paper cup in the coffee machine,... yes one, I will admit, there are to glasses but can't use them for coffee because they'll break. Big dinner table, long cabinet that looks like an old 70's stereo system, the kind where you lift a lid to access turntable etc. Also a decent counter under the TV with more storage under that. Decent desk with a chair, tell my why instead of placing the tiny mini fridge, coffee maker and supply tray on any of these available locations, they go and stick them on the lower cabinet, I'm an older person and having to squat down to make coffee or get things out of the fridge was a hassle. Room service prices are fair I guess but whatever you order, you'll need to pay a $5 fee on top of purchase price and they still ask for an optional tip starting at 18% but you can customize that

Stayed at the Gaylord for six days in hopes of having a nice getaway tied to a local wedding. Overall, the hotel is a bit dated as it has been open for 20 years. Did not expect it to have several nonfunctioning elevators and the atrium definitely leaks water in many places That has the staff putting trash cans around to catch the following water. A number of the activities, although listed as available, were not open or not have. We paid extra for an atrium view room in hopes of catching the listed nightly 9 PM light show. Which by the way, never occurred, even to the alleged surprise of some of the staff. The restaurants are excellent, however, any given night only two of the four restaurants were open, causing several hour wait times at the restaurants. Definitely not what you would expect at the Gaylord, and completely unnecessary. Given their additional restaurants they kept idly shut. For one of the Marriotts “premium“ brands I was deeply disappointed, and would choose a different hotel in coming back to the Dallas Fort Worth area.

I stayed one night at the Gaylord on a business trip, and would say my room was probably the nicest and most comfortable that I've stayed in this year (I traveled ~ 50 nights this year). The bed was comfortable, the room was incredibly quiet, drapes blocked out light effectively, everything worked. The fitness center is large and well equipped. The lobby atrium was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The hotel was very crowded but the check in line was still only about a 5-7 minute wait. My only complaint is that the only breakfast option we could find was a $32 buffet (on a Wednesday morning?)

Ups and downs with elite recognition. No breakfast included at all, not even a coffee and a stale muffin. However, the property was sold out during my stay so I was afforded a premium suite upgrade which was appreciated.
Somehow food is consistently mediocre or below quality AND it's really expensive for Texas. I find that angle to be rather unethical especially in light of the fact that the hotel has a bit of a monopoly on the area.
The F&B team is audacious in terms of refusing to respond to requests for larger table bookings or to host an event. It got to the point where I had to rely on my Marriott Ambassador to force them to respond. It is wild to me that people are trying to hold events and they refuse to confirm - how do you even make money? It was such an infuriating time suck.
The convention center was difficult - the time needed to get between the exhibition center area and the session rooms was substantial.
I would be disappointed if I had to attend another conference at this property and would have to really want to attend the conference to go.
Beware the two different uber pick up areas - make sure you're clear on where you are and select the right one in the app to avoid sending the driver far around the building.
