Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort is often celebrated for its golf amenities and picturesque setting. While guests enjoy the comfortable and spacious rooms, there is a consensus that the accommodations could benefit from modernization. The resort's location is deemed convenient for events, yet some patrons feel the cost does not match the expected standards. Service quality is inconsistent, with commendations for friendliness alongside criticisms of slow service, particularly in the dining area. Moreover, the value proposition is questioned by many who find the offerings overpriced.

I gave a 2-night golf trip to my husband for Christmas so we chose to stay for New Year's Eve here. I read through all the reviews and was somewhat hesitant since my husband really is more of a 5-star guy. All I can say is it was excellent all around. The only negatives were the bathrooms haven't been updated and the buildings do look a little tired from the outside. That's it. The bed was super comfy and the rooms are dog-friendly so our 100 yr old Chihuahua hung out in the room most of the time. They had a fire a few years ago so the main building and pro shop have been completely rebuilt. It was beautiful. We thought we would go into town to eat locally at some point, but we ended up eating every meal in the restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the entire staff was very friendly. My husband also loved the golf course. Everything was so reasonably priced too. We definitely plan to go back when the weather is nicer.

Decided to visit Tapatio after leaving Austin. Have read some unflattering reviews but we were very pleased.
Yes, the rooms are a bit dated and bathrooms could use updating and a good grout scrub, but they are large and all have patio or balcony. Plus 2 vanities & sinks which is nice and a mini fridge. Resort pool crowded Sunday with families but the adult pool was perfect and each had a hot tub.
Dinner at La Cascada both nights was delicious and there was live music on Saturday. Plus we really enjoyed being able to sit by one of the many fire pits, have a glass of wine and view the stars. They also use an app for any requests- super responsive and staff were all friendly.
The location and setting is beautiful and peaceful. Will return.

Spent 3 nights here. This was a VERY good bargain, at about $130/night for a very nice, clean, large double queen room with a little private balcony. Although the property is showing its age, there was nothing else lacking. The property is dog-friendly, and I met many great dogs and their people, especially sitting around the firepit outside our room. There are probably half a dozen firepits all over the area, and the nightly bonfires were a great way to relax. Golf is definitely a prime attraction here. I can't speak to the quality of the course, since I don't play golf. The on-site spa, Puresol, provided excellent services. We ate most meals at the restaurant, and it was very good food and service. I would definitely go again, and would recommend this place, especially for those wanting a good value for the money, for those with dogs, and for families.

For sure this is only a three star resort. Rooms are outdated and maintenance around entrances and stairways to rooms is lacking.

Clubhouse is far superior, food and service is good, every young person who waited on us was very attentive and professional.

We did look forward to listening to the live music on Saturday evening before our dinner reservation. However that was not possible because we were told all the tables were booked (even though 8 tables were free at the time we wanted to enjoy one cocktail). We were moved to the bar which lacks ambience and atmosphere (no music at all) so not the start to our evening that we had looked forward to.

We did consider moving to the patio (at least there you could hear the music) however the whole patio was covered in reservation signs, what made this further confusing was that throughout the whole evening nobody turned up, we suspected it might have been reserved by the wedding party ongoing that evening.

I just don’t think they prioritize their resort guest experience, we stayed two nights and our room wasn’t serviced. Advertising live music when only a limited number people can avail themselves of that experience if they have pre booked outside tables is misleading.

We stayed here with another couple in March 2021 and we had a great trip together, but unanimously agreed we'd never come back. In short, it's Four Seasons prices for a 3 star resort. The restaurant was recently re-done after a fire and it was beautiful, but the rooms and pool(s) were pretty outdated and felt very motel-y. It was like two different places when you compare the restaurant to the rest of the resort. They did have live music both nights and the band (BRutherZ) was great and we had SO much fun with them, but overall, if I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'd expect higher quality of food and service.

We were staying in Boerne and ate dinner at the Tapatio Restaurant. The Building is beautifully updated and very nice views from the dining tables.
Our waitress was young, pleasant and polite. The restaurant was not full, it was early on a Sunday evening. The wait time for our food was much too long. When it finally arrived, my wife and I were very disappointed with the presentation on the food.
But, more importantly, the food was not tasty and of very poor quality!
Attractive Resort buildings, and the staff were very pleasant, but the food was terrible and not inexpensive. Due to this experience, and reading reviews of the hotel rooms, we will not return to stay or to dine.

Spent 3 nights on a much needed break from quarantine. As we are big fans of both the hill country and of George Strait (owner), we decided to give it a try. Positives: Seemed it recently got a facelift in main building. Nice reception, clubhouse and restaurant. Decent food. Dog friendly and gorgeous surroundings of hill country. Negatives: customer service is hit and miss. I can’t understand why this would be in hospitality industry. You accommodate customer with reasonable request, period. Seemed we were pulling teeth by requesting outdoor seating @ breakfast. We are in a pandemic!! It’s way lower risk. Even if I asked just to serve me in to go containers, it was frowned upon. Next, rooms need a little more of a facelift then just paint. Bathrooms are outdated and exteriors and roof seems just sad and doesn’t match clubhouse at all. Horribly thin walls as well. Can hear it all! Adult pool was disgustingly dirty, especially water. Bugs galore inside. All in all, we made it work and enjoyed regardless. Again, so much potential for just some minor fixes. Oh and please play George Strait music! The man is a legend and we want to hear him 🙃

The views of the Hill country shine at Tapatio Springs! What a beautiful view of the Hill country from all around, as it is nestled in a secluded valley about 10 minutes outside of Boerne.
As you read in some reviews, the rooms are a bit dated, but they were super clean and well maintained. Everything was in working order and the grounds were well taken care of. The clubhouse area and La Cascada looked brand new and were so nice. Food at the restaurant was excellent and you could also order food to go if you wanted to grab it and head back to your room. I loved that they had an adult pool separated from the family pool if you just wanted a quiet and relaxing swim. And be sure to set an appointment for the salt cave! That was definitely a highlight!
Most of all the staff was super friendly and helpful. We had two issues of getting items needed from housekeeping, but since they don't do housekeeping every day, that's to be expected. Overall, we would definitely return. And if you play golf, you will be in heaven!

The place is beautiful but the room was disgustingly dirty. Our feet were black just with walking around a few minutes. Went to the front desk and spoke with an attendant, even brought a bright white wash cloth that we used to clean a tile square. It was also black. She said they only have one (1) housekeeper for the day and they have 40 departures and 30 arrivals. She said she is not sure if housekeeping would be able to make it to clean our room. Sad that they would not prioritize present guests over those who are departing or arriving. Plus there was no offer of compensation or to move rooms which we do not want. New management must mean less care. George Straight would not have let this happen. ADVICE: If you’re staying here, bring shower shoes. For those who have deployed with the military, you know what I mean.

I was disappointed and expected more. When you hear the word resort, you think about lots of nice amenities and comforts. The place was adequate at best. Rooms are old and they feel/smell old. Restaurant menu is very limited and the food was bland. Staff was friendly. But unless you are a golf enthusiast, you have limited options on activities and entertainment. I’ve been to other/better resorts. I won’t be going back. Sorry 😞

Answer from Paul R

Hello Kat4612018, Thanks for reaching out, but unfortunately, I have some terrible news. We experienced a major fire this past November and the resort is currently closed, only open to the public for golf and guests of Pure Sol Spa. Overnight accommodations will remain closed during the construction of the new clubhouse. We are hopeful to reopen Summer 2019.
