The owners went out there way to make me welcome, very nice log fire to sit by and read a paper, beautiful dining room area with lots of heritage through out the whole building and a veg out area to read a book. Nice bed it really made you curl up and enjoy the sleep, lovely breakfast with a vast array of what to eat. You wont be disapointed staying here for the night

We stayed here for 4 nights. Our hosts were fantastic and so friendly. The Farmers Inn has been beautifully restored and it was a pleasure to stay here. Dont let that "lived in" exterior fool you, the interior is beautiful. I am sure the exterior will soon be as spectacular as the inside. Thanks Merilyn and Peter for a great stay.

The worn exterior conceals a completely new interior, with a lot of care given to creating a comfortable environment that still feels traditional. The bedroom was large enough for sleeping in, with a dining room and reading room available for other times of the day. Two of the four rooms share a bathroom, which is large and in great condition and has a shower and a free-standing bath. There is a second toilet room for these two bedrooms to share, and if only one of the two sharing rooms is occupied as it was for us you have your own bathroom anyway.

The cooked breakfast on offer was generous and enjoyable. A Nespresso machine is available for use at any time, which is a welcome improvement over the instant coffee hotels usually provide, and we might have helped ourselves to more than our share of the delicious cookies on offer.

The backyard is large with many impressive gum trees, and for now at least there is a resident koala, which was fun to observe eating, sleeping, eating and sleeping, but don't sit directly below it.

We didn't find out whether Wi-Fi Internet access is intended to be available, but we were in Macarthur to visit Mt Eccles, bush walk and enjoy the quiet so we didn't miss connectivity.

Decided to stay at this B & B due to it's location in the Hamilton/"volcanic" area of southwest Victoria as I was attending the annual Sheepvention in Hamilton and I wanted to visit the Mt. Eccles and Mt. Napier National Parks which are the sights of Australia's most recent volcanic event. The property has been renovated into a very comfortable B & B with the dining room in a vaulted, metal pressed ceiling that was formally a billiard room. There is also a very cosy sitting room with an open fire and a well stocked kitchenette for coffee and tea making with high quality ingredients including cookies/biscuits. The ensuited bedrooms were very comfortable and well furnished; including flat screen TV. Breakfast was very good with a variety of cereals, yogurt, juice followed by bacon, eggs, corn fritters (as an alternative to hashbrowns) and link sausages. Also good to have the daily newspapers to read.

The owners, Merilyn & Peter Cook, are very accomplished hosts and we enjoyed gracious welcome and efforts to make our stay very pleasant.

We were cruising through Macarthur at Coffee O'Clock and happened to notice the tea rooms associated with the Farmers Inn. We stopped for refreshments, and we're so glad we did.
There is a nice selection of cakes and scones available with properly decent tea or coffee. Interior decor is charming, and some giftware available for sale also.
Good service rounded off the experience.

What a delight to find this gem in what could arguably be described as 'out of the way'
Everything was of the highest quality from bed linen to bathroom fittings.
Breakfast was huge and delicious.
Our evening meal was easily obtained across the road at the local pub.
Merylin was an excellent hostess and made our stay very enjoyable.
A great little country town, beautiful well manicured gardens with historic features.

On entering the tea room we were made very welcome with a friend smiling face.
The room has been restored wonderfully with furniture that goes well in the heritage tea room. I just loved the metal pressed ceiling.
They have scones with cream and jam but the cakes just took my eye. I couldn’t make up my mind so I brought two different ones and we shared them between us.
The tea and cakes were served up on the best china wear and it all matched. The tea was great and cakes were the best. We ordered a pot of tea for two and we both had more than two serves each. The slice of cake we had was a generous size too.
They are also close to Mount Eccles an Mt Napier national Parks.
I hope next time we are in the area that we stay overnight in the B&B.
My husband and I highly recommend the tea room and it’s open on weekend, I believe.

We chose this place, because it was one of the only options to stay close to Mount Eccles National Park. It was a wonderful surprise. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful restored old hotel, the rooms were spotless and just beautifully furnished, very comfy bed and massive breakfast. They even lighted a log fire in the morning for our breakfast in the dining room. Merylin showed us their backyard with a gum tree and a koala mum with her little cute koala baby sitting in there. Apparently they visit from time to time.
It was a great stay. Highly recommended. They also have a tea room which is open at the weekend.

This is a completely refurbished former old hotel- we booked after finding a room at a fair price with ensuite (one night over easter) - room was decorated with period furniture inc. 4 poster bed and all mod cons - ensuite was large and spotless - massive breakfast and sitting room is beautifully furnished - the owners are friendly and welcoming people - breakfast is fully cooked and very substantial - highly recommended

Don't let the plain exterior fool you this former hotel has been beautifully renovated inside. I loved the polished baltic pine floors, the tongue and groove baltic lining boards on the walls and the pressed tin ceiling in the breakfast room. I have stayed here twice now, once in the Eumeralla room which I think would be a lovely choice in summer and once in the Eccles room which seemed warm and sunny despite the fact that the day outside was overcast. The owners were lovely warm friendly people who made me feel very welcome and breakfast was superb. This accommodation would be perfect for mature guests who enjoys reflecting on quality of workmanship and service of yesteryear or equally suited to the energetic young bush walkers who would enjoy the walking tracks at Mt Eccles before travelling on to the Grampians.
