Detailed Reviews
We stayed just after lockdown was lifted for the weekend for some walking. Beautiful spacious room, comfortable bed, great nights sleep. The restaurant was still closed but we had a continental breakfast delivered to our door each morning. A really nice touch was the lounge was open, with dishes and glasses left out, all sanitised and wrapped individually. We were able to take in takeaway and drinks, and there were three well distanced tables, it felt very safe. Given the small number of rooms and the setup it made for a great post lockdown break.

+1
Stayed for two nights at Y Meirionnydd in the most lovely room on the top floor. The bed was one of the comfiest beds ever, the decor was lovely and the whole room/bathroom was absolutely spotless. The white company toiletries were a lovely luxurious addition! Really appreciated as well that they’d adapted their service and informed us that unless requested, rooms would not be entered into/cleaned by hotel staff during our stay due to their Covid safety measures. The breakfast service provided was also outstanding. Multiple cooked vegetarian options available, a continental buffet and lots of juice/tea options. Mark (the owner) was so welcoming and made our stay even better! Overall, 10/10!

Dear JJovo, wow what a lovely review and a 10/10 score, the team were thrilled to read it! It was a difficult time with all the Covid restrictions but whilst we ensured we met them we did'nt allow them to overshadow guests stay with us. Lets hope the next time you stay with us things will be easier! Marc, Nick and the team

I booked direct , asking for a quiet room . They suggested cadair at the back of the house . It was a moderate size room beautifully decorated and furnished . A big bonus was the view across the rooftops to the mountains . The bathroom was lovely and the shower was powerful and warm . It had little touches like cotton wool balls and tissues and the usual shampoos etc. breakfast was a treat of high quality components cooked to perfection accompanied by a big pot of proper tea . There are a number of parking spots immediately outside the property and a big car park 5 mins away . There are good pubs and eateries all within a two minute walk .

I am missing that comfy bed already! We stayed in Arran room for two nights and it was absolutely perfect! The bed was big and incredibly comfortable! We climbed Snowdon so that bed was just perfect! The shower was great and the bathroom was very clean. The staff even serviced our room and made it look brand new while we were out for the day! We had dinner in the old underground cell restaurant which had a very cozy yet elegant atmosphere, the food was tasty and affordable!
Breakfast was great too, with a much bigger selection than most hotels! I had the American pancakes whilst my partner had a cooked breakfast, both great! The team even went the extra mile for us, and made us a packed takeaway breakfast as we told them we would be leaving at 5 am for Snowden! Parking was relatively stress free in Dolgellau, as there were plenty of public spaces throughout the town to park for free overnight, even though we stayed here on the August bank holiday weekend.
If you are planning on staying here to climb Snowden as we did, this place is only 45 minutes from the start and had the best drive the whole way there.
I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more! Thank you so much to the staff, who were more than cheerful and welcoming and went the extra mile the whole time we were there!

We have been visiting Dolgellau at New Year for the last few years due to its location and proximity to the mountains and have spent New Year's Eve at the restaurant at Y Meirionnydd (not including lockdown obviously). The food has always been great and the service is absolutely second to none. Mark, Nick and the team are all so friendly and you're made to feel almost part of the family there. This year we stayed for the first time and slept in the Cadair room with views of the mountain. The bed is ridiculously comfortable and hard to get out of as you could stay there all day. Good job the breakfast makes it worth it! We'll definitely be back.

We found this is a very well run, friendly hotel. We had 2 rooms both were comfy, certainly gave the appearance of being recently furnished, lovely beds and good size. The food was very good, tasty, well presented and good service; it is a credit how they have managed to create an ambience in the downstairs restaurant. A couple of points, which I appreciate are outside the owners control - parking is limited and the location is in the central square of Dolgellau so there is some noise at night and through the early morning (not sure why bins needed to be emptied at 6am!). On the plus side the location is good for a climb up nearby Cader Idris (Ty Nant Car park 10 min away), and great to walk or cycle the Mawddach Estuary Trail - starts 400 m away cycle hire shop down the road. Overall recommended for a short stay.

After having to cancel a trip abroad due to Covid, during our search for a staycation, we stumbled across Y Meirionnydd by chance. We weren't disappointed.
This is a unique, historical building set in Dolgellau, making it perfect for exploring nearby Snowdonia. We stayed for 3 nights in the Meirion room on the top floor. The room was large, beautifully decorated with a feature stone wall at the far side. The bathroom was also pleasant and had a fabulous walk in shower. The room throughout was immaculate.
The restaurant offered a dinner menu with really lovely food which we both enjoyed thoroughly. Breakfast also offered a large choice and again was very tasty!
There are lots of places to visit nearby including Snowdonia National Park for mountains and Barmouth for a spot of beach walking. There is also a beautiful Forest nearby too, so you will never get bored!
Mark and his team could not do enough for you. They really were faultless and we felt warmly welcomed throughout our stay.
In regards to Covid safety, everything has been well thought out, whether in your room or in the restaurant / bar areas.
A really lovely stay all in all and we would absolutely love to come back again soon!

Dear Lozasher, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on your stay with us, we're all so happy that you had such a great time. Meirion room is a firm favourite with many guests - often it's the only room they'll stay in, moving dates to make sure they get it! It's ancient beams, stone walls and huge bed make it a perfect escape for a few days in beautiful Snowdonia. Once again many thanks for staying with us, we look forward to welcoming you both again very soon, Marc, Nick and the team

Comfortable, cosy boutique hotel. Our room and ensuite were quite small but nicely furnished and decorated and our childrens twin room was much more spacious as two rooms had been converted into one. Excellent restaurant which was very popular so reservations recommended. Very hospitable hosts. Would happily return.

Stayed at the Y Meirionnydd for 2 nights. Excellent hotel, really clean, rooms as good as they look on the website. Staff are really friendly and helpful and the lady that checked us in was really helpful and made sure that the feather quilt and pillows were removed for me due to my allergy. Nothing was too much trouble. Ate at the restaurant one night and again the food was excellent and if we had stayed another night we would have definitely dined in the hotel again. Dafydd the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely stay again

We managed to get a last minute reservation as someone else had cancelled and we are so glad we did !!! All the COVID stuff was spot on. However this review is about the food the service and the atmosphere. We went here to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary to find that there were two other couples celebrating their 25th anniversaries and another celebrating their 49th!!!! We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was fantastic the starters of smoked salmon and welsh venison pate were very good and the lamb to follow was outstanding. Drinks and desserts also very good. The locals celebrating their anniversaries also made us “southerners” feel very welcome and we had a good social (at the right distance) evening. Thanks to all that made our anniversary dinner a great evening and if you get chance visit this restaurant and enjoy the excellent food and great service take that opportunity. One of the best dinners we’ve had in a long while

I don't think it is but you could always give them a call on 01341422554
There is restricted parking immediately outside and in the neighbouring streets but you can park overnight as long as you move the car by 8.00am
However there are both long & short stay car parks within five minutes walk.
Please don't let the parking put you off - it's lovely!
