Stayed here for business trip. The hotel is beautiful the rooms are decadent classic and have the feel of a stately hone.
Lounge and breakfast room beautifully decorated warm open fire at breakfast time. I didn’t want to go to work after !
Lillian the owner was so helpful and accommodating nothing was too much trouble .
Best B&B I have stayed in .
5 star ⭐️ in my opinion

I stayed at Meifod Country House Hotel for three nights on a friends trip with a group of four. It's a small place with only five bedrooms. We had bed and breakfast. The hotel is an act of love from Lillian the proprietor to her guests. She has exquisite interior design skills which is reflected in all the rooms. Each piece of furniture in the bedrooms is hand chosen. It is a mixture of antique and modern. There is designer handprinted wallpaper. The guests can relax in the four reception rooms downstairs which have beautiful leather armchairs and open fires. I imagine this would be amazing in the winter when the fires are lit. Nothing was too much trouble. Our delicious breakfast was served every day by Babs, who is as lovely as Lilian is. As I prefer to eat vegan food, Babs got me sensational olive oil and fresh avocado. She got us fresh blueberries and strawberries. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel doesn't serve dinner and on Saturday night we couldn't get a booking for dinner in Caernarfon. So we bought a take away dinner and ate it as the sun went down in the lovely outdoor patio. Lilian provided us with plates, silverware and linen napkins. So we had a nicer dinner than we would have had in a restaurant. I cannot recommend Meifod Country House Hotel highly enough.

We stayed at Meifod House as we were looking for somewhere relatively close to ZipWorld. The hotel owner greeted us upon arrival, she was very pleasant and polite. She was very helpful but very rarely seen.
Our room was a suite with a four-poster bed. The bed was really comfortable and we both slept really well. There was no noise whatsoever from the nearby road.
The room was very well presented and clean.
On further inspection we noticed a few imperfections. The bath was scratched and looked dirty due to this. The shower curtain around the bath was mouldy. The basin was not attached to the wall.
The room had quite basic selection of beverages for a room of such opulence. The tea and coffee provided was below par - just cheap Tetley and a jar of dried coffee granules.
There was a free-standing bath in our room, however you will need to provide your own bubble bath to make full use of that facility.
The window handles were broken or completely missing which considering just how warm this room got, was less than ideal. There was a fan provided which we had no choice to use. The room was described as having robes and a hair dryer, neither of which were provided.
There is a TV in the room, a small fridge and also ironing facilities. There is ample storage space for clothes and belongings if you were staying on a longer basis.
There are two comfortable chairs provided and plenty of mirrors.
We had a nice stay, it was ideal for the nature of our trip but probably wouldn't look to return. We don't believe the room is value for money as a lot of the finishing touches are missing or require some TLC.

There is a social area in the hotel. We did not make use of this. However should you wish to, there are board games, a library and a bar which you can make full use of as you wish.

We did not have breakfast so are unable to comment. Felt it should be included in the price given the cost of a night's stay.

Held a royal ascot day for family and neighbours on gold cup day and on the saturday this week, arranged with the owner for drinks, canapes, light buffet, strawberiies and cream and a small afternoon tea, i couldnt have been more impressed, fantastic and everyone of my guests enjoyed the day. The setting was impressive, and the weather great to enjoy outdoor drinks, and watching the racing on tv, wonderfu 2 days and already thinking of doing another for grand national day and royal ascot next year.

Beautiful and charming country house, in Bontnewedd, which is just outside of Caernarfon.
Stayed here previously some years ago, just as welcoming and delightful this time round.
Only stayed one night this time unfortunately, a flying visit to the area, our room was cosy & very comfortable, had the best nights sleep I have had in a long time.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent, there was a good choice of hot and cold food, we settled on the full cooked breakfast, which definitely set my husband and I up for the rest of the day!
A shame we could not stay longer.

My daughter and I stayed here on a weekend away - it is beautiful. The room “Menai” was a really good size with 2 single beds (can also be a king too), so so so comfortable. All the amenities you would expect in your room. Decoration throughout the hotel was stunning. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.

A beautiful house and grounds with extremely friendly staff. Room was a bit run down with taps that twisted when you turned them off and on. One of the glasses in the bathroom had lipstick marks on it, and it appeared that one of the complimentary shampoos had been half used. However the room was very comfortable and the lounge rooms, bar area, and library were beautiful and a lovely place to relax with a drink. Only about 30minute walk to Caernarfon for restaurants and pubs.

We stayed at the Meifod Country House just outside Caernarfon. Lovely old house, nice very comfortable bedroom, old fashioned lounges and the best breakfast I have had in years. The position is great for visiting North Wales, everywhere is in easy reach from the beaches to the mountains.

A country hotel that caters for weddings & funerals more than casual travellers. However, the friendly owner kept the hotel open just for us as I had booked. We had a great conversation in Welsh as this is a Welsh speaking area, & she explained she had been busy & had a family illness, so had decided to close, but kept it open as I had a reservation. We had a palatial room & bathroom with a four poster bed. It was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was well cooked & there was plenty to eat. As we were alone, the waitress disappeared so we were unable to get extra coffee. Normally with a full house this would not happen. I would stay there again.

We went for a wedding nearby, the bride stayed at the hotel the night before and we couldnt have asked for more they let us use the whole house for photos and the garden. They were more than helpful in all aspects and we would love to go back for a more relaxing time. 10 out of 10 for service x
