We stayed at this lovely hotel on our way to and from our Smoky Mountains getaway. Every detail was wonderful. The staff were friendly and had our safety and comfort as a high priority. Everything was sparkling clean and the staff all wore masks. The room was beautifully furnished, the complimentary wine was delicious, and our meals (dinner and the complimentary full breakfast) at Paulette's were a delight. We will stay here every time we are in Memphis, and highly recommend it to others!

River Inn is on Mud Island, and it is an island (with a bridge). Most rooms have view of the Mississippi and it is a five minute walk down to the river. If you like to check into a five star hotel and not leave the property this is your choice. The main restaurant Paulette's offers an excellent breakfast and even better dinners. I don't like grits but I cleaned my plate. Our son had an excellent filet, my wife had "red fish with crab" (which I'm guessing is red snapper) and other treats.

There is a terrace bar on the roof with small plates and interesting cocktails. You can walk around the neighborhood which is so laid back many residents just have golf carts instead of cars.

Our room. We had a junior suite (I think there are only 28 rooms) with navy blue walls and dark wood furniture and it was exquisite. Bathroom was new and I wanted to take the shower home but my wife wouldn't let me.

Service. Five star. A carafe of port with chocolates comes about seven for turn-down service. The concierge service was charming and actually helpful. It's easy to get an Uber if necessary right in front.

I can see why many people return to this hotel over and over. We usually stay at Fairmont hotels and River Inn is up to that standard. Yes it is a boutique hotel, but with zero of the 'hipster' attitude and incompetence. The staff here is at a high level of old-world charm and modern efficiency. You won't be disappointed.

Customer service is one of the most important components of a business or vacation stay at hotels. The staff is very professional and friendly, eager to assist. The overall hotel/inn was a great experience. It's very clean, beautiful and relaxing with the Victorian decor. The restaurants are conveniently located and have unique menus. What's even more impressing is the Mississippi River view and its location close to the downtown Memphis area in a quaint, remote community.

We had stayed in this hotel previously and had a wonderful experience, so we chose to stay again when we were traveling through Memphis. The hotel is in a lovely section of the city and the staff at check in was very pleasant. Upon entering, though, it was apparent that the property had become rather worn since our last visit. The carpets were in need of replacing and didn't appear to be very clean. The room was the same. The room did not have a coffee maker of any type, but we were told that complimentary coffee would be available on the landing outside our room in the morning. Indeed coffee was there in the morning, but it was very week and the pump pot did not sustain the temperature well. The fitness center was not open, but we were given access to a nearby gym. The hairdryer in the room didn't work. For the rate, it was extremely unsatisfactory. Breakfast was included in our rate, but the menu in the restaurant was quite confusing and very limited. Service was terrible. We had to track down a waitress to be seated and then no one came to the table for over ten minutes. The entire place desperately needs an update. There are a number of very nice hotels in Memphis and the next time I am in the area, I will choose a different hotel.

Booked a 1 night Connoisseur Package for $399 at the River Inn that incl luxurious room, dinner & breakfast for 2 at the renowned Paulette's restaurant to celebrate my friend's 60th birthday. We stayed in the Admiral Suite which has a view of the Mississippi River from every window and an inviting fireplace, too! Every.Single.Thing was amazing! We had champagne & chocolate strawberries and a turndown service that included port and chocolates. We felt very pampered. The welcome glass of wine from the warm & friendly registration staff to the beautiful room and the phenomenal food at Paulette's made our staycation so enjoyable & memorable! As a resident of Memphis for 26 years, I regret missing out on doing this or recommending this to others.

Wanted to meet up with Memphis Friends for a weekend, so we booked a room at the River Inn, mainly because it reminded me of the Capital Hotel in downtown Little Rock, which is also beautiful and historic.Booked one of the two Penthouse Suites so our friends could join us in our room for visiting and be comfortable. There is plenty of free parking behind the hotel and sometimes right out front. Got checked in easily and room was ready. Penthouse is a nice size with living area, separate bedroom and a fireplace. The bathroom was spacious and had a soaking tub. After visiting, headed down to Patricia's (the restaurant attached to the hotel). After dinner, were able to head to the rooftop bar area, and found a table. The bar was quite lively and we had good after dinner service there as well. Our room was actually on the same floor down the hall from the bar with an elevator right outside, but we didn't hear any noise all night once we turned in. (Which surprised me based on it's proximity). We then had a great (included) breakfast at the same restaurant the next morning. Everyone treated us so well and we had a great time.

My husband and I did not properly celebrate our anniversary last year. So we took a special amount of time to plan for 2020. With COVID 19, we decided to stay close to home and explored spending time at the Harbor Inn. The receptionist sold me on a very nice room and even showed it to me. So we stayed there. All was perfect until we did not receive a special order from 1 of their selected restaurants and not receiving some guaranteed items like turn down and room service. Apparently, there was miscommunication between the manager and 1 of the receptionist (in regards to our room service), which happens. There was NO explanation as to why we did not receive our turn down service. During the discussion with the manager to resolve the issues, he kept explaining and offered no resolution to our issues. Finally, he said our room service order would be remade the next day. He saw us and made no mention of it as if he'd forgotten. The receptionist went to get our turn down service items returning with two very small glasses and 4 pieces of candy? We paid $208 for BS. The manager's lack of concern for what was a simple error and his inability to at least attempt to resolce them will keep us from staying at the River Inn again. I was going to send a family member and his wife on a brief getway there as I thought my husband and I would've loved. To the contrary: I will not be recommending this place to ANYBODY!

Hotel is located in a neighborhood community directly across from the Mississippi River. Checking was easy. Upon arrival you also are treated to a glass of wine or champagne which was nice. Our room was located on the 3rd floor with a view of the river. Nicely appointed room and fairly spacious. Bed was very comfortable. We also had some decent sherry and chocolates for evening cordials.

Disappointing though was that Paulettes is not open Sundays after 4 pm and there was a private event booked on the rooftop terrace leaving Tugs as your only dining option for dinner. I’d recommend that when the hotel has that type of limitations that Paulettes open for at least a limited dinner.

Bathtub/shower also slopes down from the back and is slippery. Be careful!

Breakfast is included in your room and was perfect.

Would I stay again? Probably not.

A wonderful, unique hotel with very friendly staff that combines the charm of a bed and breakfast with the amenities of a luxury hotel experience. Loved that a very nice breakfast was included with our stay at a wonderful on-site restaurant (Paulette’s). There were also nice included homey touches that made our stay relaxing like chocolates and sherry at turndown, newspapers to read and a welcome glass of champagne, as well as very easy parking. Wonderful location next to the Mississippi River in a cute, relaxing riverside neighborhood with a small area of shops and restaurants, live outdoor music (some evenings) and a lovely park perfect for a sunset stroll on the river. The area is also a very short drive or a longer walk from the center of downtown Memphis.
