We dropped in for the first part of our vacation - visiting Memphis. This hotel is several blocks away from Beale Street - which means it's within walking distance, but nice and quiet.

The room was clean and tidy, and comfortable. A nice wide screen TV was on the wall, with good services available for free.

We took several long walks to Beale Street to look around and take in the sights. The hotel is also close to several noteworthy restaurants, including the Rendezvous, which is a famous rib place.

The bed was comfortable, the shower and bathrooms were clean, and the hotel offered free breakfast daily, with hot and cold items available.

We're physically fit, so we walked to Sun Records, and to the Bass Pro Shop pyramid. There were those rental scooters everywhere, so if you aren't so fit and can balance, that can be a way to get around for a cost.

The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. It's hard not to like this place.

We stayed for 4 nights back in October 2019 and had a Larger Studio, 1 Queen, Bedroom is a loft with a sofa bed as the room type is described in my Marriott reservation. There were 2 steps up to the loft/bedroom and bathroom with a TV in the bedroom. The living area was large with a sofa bed, a chair, a desk plus chair, another flat screen TV and the kitchen with the dining area with a table and 4 chairs. Yes the building is old and even the lobby is split into multiple levels making it a bit confusing and more difficult for those with mobility issues. The staff was always welcoming and on the hot days it was nice to come back to a pitcher with iced water with a hint of lemon before you got to the elevators. The included breakfast was quite good with enough choices plus it had a waffle maker. This eating area was directly connected to a Starbucks. Easy to walk to the river, to Beale St. We even walked to the Pyramid, the Gus's Fried Chicken and Lorraine Motel so it was a superb location for us. Even catching Lyft to/from the airport didn't cost much.

From the moment I walked in the door Mr. Washington greeted me happily with a smile. He is an asset to the company as he truly cares about his guest’s experience. He went above and beyond to make sure we were in a comfortable room. He was always so friendly and kind every time we encountered him.
This hotel is a very nice hotel with little touches that make the stay more special.
The hotel is very clean and appears recently renovated.
The location is very good and the trolley stop just down the street is very convenient.
The complimentary breakfast in the morning is outstanding and the breakfast attendants are are very friendly and always replenishing items.
Every staff member I encountered was extremely gracious and kind, right down to the valet.
I would stay again at this fine hotel if ever I have the opportunity and I definitely recommend it to others.

Our son had recently traveled to Memphis and did not feel safe when he was there, so he expressed his concern for us. We were very careful when choosing a hotel and the Residence Inn did not disappoint. While we stayed in the local area after dark, we liked the central location of the hotel and its proximity to the trolley, which enabled us to keep our car parked for our entire stay. We didn't see any homeless or drunks....well, except for the guests who were in the room next to us having a vicious domestic dispute, screaming at each other the entire night. We did have our room moved at 3 am, although a better resolution would have been to separate and move them rather than waiting for us to ask to have our room changed. Or kick them out. While I understand that they didn't want to send them out on the road while they were drunk and fighting, the other guests lost a night of sleep. They told us they were guests and not homeless being housed there, but we'll never know the real story.

The rooms were spacious despite the odd shape and untraditional layout. We were in a loft room, which now I understand what that means. The bedroom area is elevated by a step-up with the bathroom on that elevated loft (just two steps, I believe). Then the kitchen and living areas are by the windows. It's just a different layout, but very spacious and functional.

Parking was valet and according to my app, our car was within the same block. The valet told us there was an on-site parking garage. We had no problems at all with the valet parking. Breakfast was sufficient, although scaled back considerably from pre-Covid. Several restaurants, and the Peabody Hotel, are within a block or two, and again, while we were aware of our surroundings, we didn't have any problems in this area. The Beale Street area was a bit sketchy, but we only went during the daytime.

I doubt we will be back to Memphis, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

12 stories. Fitness Center was the size of a large closet. Ugh!

But the rest was fine! :)

Located in downtown Memphis, the hotel is in easy walking distance of Beale Street, the Redbirds stadium, and the river. When you drive up on the street there’s a valet parking sign and we just used that because I didn’t want to try and find the self parking garage, but there is that option. I’d suggest you find out exactly where self parking is before arrival if that’s going to be the option you choose.

Front desk staff was very friendly and the hotel is kept clean. They follow COVID good practice guidelines. Breakfast was mainly pre-wrapped grab and go items, but it was as good as you would get at most hotel breakfast buffets (except no waffles or pancakes).

There were only 2, rather small, elevators, but we did not encounter any long delays as a result.

Our room was spacious and the bed is on a raised, wall-off loft. Both the main bed and pull out sofa were comfortable.

The kitchen was small, but had a stove top and microwave plus a fridge for those who want to cook in. The desk is large enough to serve as a good office space if you’re here on business.

Internet was excellent!

Overall, I enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose this property if we return.

During booking and when we first arrived, the hotel had so much promise; beautiful historic building that is well-located. But throughout our short stay we were disappointed.

This location is dog friendly, but I don’t think they get many guests with dogs. The locked front lobby door was a hassle and staff was not friendly in explaining how it works. I was especially surprised when we were locked *inside* the lobby at 9am when trying to take our dog out to potty in the morning. This was especially strange because the night before the front desk staff had been telling my husband how safe the area is.

Additionally, when I went to look at the breakfast area with my dog in tow, a worker told me I had to leave and “go outside” because I had a dog. She said I wasn’t allowed in the hallway anywhere near the dining area (which was empty and had signs saying “closed”) while I had a dog with me. Still, I appreciate that we were even allowed to have a dog with us.

Valet was convenient and reasonably priced for downtown I thought. However they did accidentally bring our car around at one point though we hadn’t called for it.

The bed was uncomfortable, but the shower was incredible. The room was overall really nice, just a bit cramped which is expected for downtown.

Overall I would have given 2 bubbles, but I added one for the quality of the room and beauty of the building.

Our stay started a bit shaky given that the street in front of the hotel entrance is totally block by construction. It would have been nice in all of the pre-check-in communications sent by the hotel if they sent out some warning on this situation. With the help of the valets we were able to get situated but we were lucky to have driven in from the east ($32 to valet park with tax).

Once inside we were pleased to get a great upgraded corner suite on the 10th floor as Gold members. This was the best room of our 10 day trip that included 9 nights in Marriott properties. The room was not only spacious but the decor, fixtures and furniture were much nicer than most Residence Inns we have stayed at around the US. The public spaces in this old art deco renovated building were classier too and in good shape.

The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard for RIs.

The location was close to a number of attractions and "close enough" to the always loud and rowdy Beale Street.

Highly recommended!

Staying here was one of the best decisions we made for several reasons with number one being the staff. They are truly amazing! The hotel itself is fantastic but the staff are the true asset of this Residence Inn. Although all we encountered were wonderful, there were 2 standouts. Jimmy (the doorman) and Carl W. (front desk). Please take note Marriott (and we have Lifetime Platinum status) that they went above and beyond for us.
We were in a "Larger Studio, In Loft Queen Bed). And oh my gosh that bed. It was divine, and I have huge back issues. Our room on the 6th floor (605) was so quiet. The room itself impeccably clean.
We intended to stay for one night but I took ill and stayed a second night out of necessity. The room was so cozy and warm that I knew I could find no better place to recuperate. That bed became very important to me as I spent nearly all my time there!
My husband enjoyed the rooftop terrace and we even got some needed laundry done (washer/dryers excellent and fast). The location of the hotel can't be beat with so much in walking distance. Self park a little tricky to get to but Jimmy showed us there personally.
There was nothing to NOT love about this hotel. We would happily stay at it again and again.

I’ve been staying at Marriott’s for 15+years and I must tell you… the staff here have by far been the kindest and most accommodating I’ve ever come across. This was our first visit to Memphis; Carl and Linesia were friendly, welcoming and helpful with directions, food recommendations, and just overall providing information. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful with several options, clean, organized and the employee assigned in the morning was pleasant and helpful too. I felt like i was staying with family!! Rooms/common areas were clean and comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again! Close to restaurants and a short walk to Beale St., FedEx Stadium, and river front.

First and Best things about the hotel: Ms. Ima Brown and Elmo, the valet. They were so pleasant and gave great suggestions on places to visit, places to eat, and sightseeing opportunities. The hotel is within walking distance of Beale St, Family Dollar, Walgreens, and Winfield's, (men's shoes and boutique) and the trolley ($1) is at the corner of the hotel. You can see the Mississippi River from the sidewalk. The bed and pillows were clean and very comfortable. Great for a relaxing sleep after a full day's activities.
What could have been better: I was celebrating my 50th birthday. A pandemic is going on so there were not a lot of guests in the hotel. The staff and Tracey Henninger, director of sales, were told about my birthday before I got there. I was thinking room upgrade but I guess they were more so thinking "That's nice. Happy Birthday to you". Lol! No whoop-la, no confetti, nothing at all but Happy Birthday was said to me. Construction was going on at the hotel but it didn't disturb me.
I had a great time anyway and the basic Queen room I reserved was clean and nice. My time in Memphis was well spent with great food and a fun time.
