Check in: Arrived in the evening on a Friday. Was able to check in immediately with a very attentive front desk representative. I felt bad that my check in process held up a guest behind me who just had a question as only one person was at the front desk but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition: No room upgrade was possible but this was not surprising to me as there didn't seem to be any better rooms for sale for my nights and it was a holiday weekend so quite busy. I was given a room on the top floor but quite close to the Peacock and Tiger Bar and even with earplugs was kept awake a fair bit. I really value quality of sleep and if I learned that this is a problem for every room in the hotel, I wouldn't return or be able to recommend it, but if I was able to be provided with a quieter return in the future, that would be good. 1,000 bonus bonvoy points and breakfast from the restaurant off the lobby. Ashley served me both mornings and was an absolute delight. The service was better than the food but the food wasn't awful.

Tiger & Peacock Bar: The only really undesirable part of my stay occurred with the host stand of the rooftop bar. Even though my room was right next to the bar, I had to go down to the lobby to access it. I arrived a few minutes before opening time of 5pm and the gentleman was very nice about receiving me and advised at 5pm he would just need a few minutes to let in folks with earlier reservations. He took my name and room number and told me he would be with me soon and to take a seat in the lobby. At 5pm I watched others get called for which stopped after a few moments. at 5:11pm there was no activity in the lobby at all and I looked over to the host who had zero recollection of who I was and that not even 15 minutes before he had told me he was going to let me into the bar in a few minutes. Though this was rather small as far as misses go and certainly not with malice, it was also one that was unnecessary and had I not proactively wondered what was going on, it would seem I would have been kept waiting endlessly.

The experience at the bar itself was much better. Angelo was just as lovely and sweet as Ashley. The food I had was basic but delicious - fries and cheesecake. I was a little bummed that the dessert I had my heart set on from the menu was no longer something that was served and the dessert menu had changed but the cheese cake really was excellent so that helped. At the end of my time I was permitted to leave through a different exit which led me right to my room.

Check out was simple and efficient with no problems getting a rideshare from the front entrance.

Assuming I could get a room in the future with an environment that gave a better quality of sleep, I would happily return and recommend this property.

The Memphian was a beautiful hotel with gorgeous spaces and decor. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a corner King room with nice views of Overton Square. There is a quirky design where you walk through the bathroom between the entrance and bedroom. This doesn’t really pose a problem for solo/couple travelers. Shower was excellent with great lathering Gilchrist and Soames toiletry products offered. Water refill stations are available on all floors along with pre bagged ice on most floors as well. The hotel restaurant, The Complicated Pilgrim, served delicious breakfast foods and had an attentive staff. I would definitely recommend for those seeking a stay at a beautiful well run property at a convenient location in this part of Memphis.

I am struggling a bit with this review. The positive things are truly great, but the negative things have me shaking my head. The location is great. It is in the heart of a bustling area for restaurants and entertainment. You can literally walk to many great restaurants. The rooftop bar is a huge plus (but make sure you know the dress code or you will not get in). The rooms are big, beautiful, and extremely comfortable. I liked the set up of the bathroom area. It allows two people to go about getting ready without stepping all over each other.

The bad is all about room location within the hotel itself. We were on the 6th floor directly below the rooftop bar. The noise from the bar transferred through the bar floor/room ceiling. It was especially a problem after midnight when the bar closed and they were cleaning. I spoke with the manager about it and she was very conciliatory. Her approach and attitude will greatly contribute to us staying there again.

Bottom line: I would have given this an excellent rating if my room had been on the opposite end of the hotel. I will definitely ask for that area when we come back.

Let me start by saying the cosmetics of the hotel were very nice, however some of the staff, not honoring what I was told would be done to make our night special, room category being unfulfilled lacked and I was extremely disappointed . I live in Memphis and the hotel was directly across from wedding reception venue, so we stayed at this hotel for convenience and because it was a brand new hotel. I physically went to the hotel 1 month prior to staying, spoke to the staff about the reservations I made online. Informed that my daughter-in-law and wife would be staying on Friday night in a standard room and then we would be moving to a suite for the night of our wedding. So I asked if her things could be taken to the suite on Saturday for an early check in, they told me they cannot verify availability, but they would put notes in there to make sure that a suite was cleaned first specifically for our request so are things could be stored in the suite while we were preparing for a wedding. That did not happen and 40 minutes before I’m going to walk down the aisle I have to physically walk over there and show my ID to be able to leave my things because at the front desk because our room wasn’t even ready by 3 PM. So they would not except her bags and luggage that my grandson took over. After I walk over from the venue to the hotel in my suit I am treated very rudely by one of staff member and I’m told to wait and calm down when all I need to do is show my ID for them to except the bags and store them till after our wedding. After the wedding is over we go to our room get our stuff go upstairs and we’re in a handicap accessible suite at the end of the of the hall. The room did not have the requested pillows, there was zero water pressure and a handicap accessible room is less than desirable on the night of your room. Will not be back and I will not recommend to any friends or family that come into town! On top of all this, no room service or bellhop to help with personal belongs.

This is a new hotel in a great location. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite using our Marriott Points. At first glance, we were impressed with the furnishings. Then we realized we that the entrance is through the bathroom. The sink was on the right, the enclosed toilet was on the left with the shower stall, which was out in the open. No privacy. Weird. We were disappointed that there were no real glasses in the suite. Just plastic cups. We also didn’t have a useful clock radio. Just a battery operated one that didn’t glow on the dark. Really?? In a suite that goes for over $500?

We were also underwhelmed by the “elevator guard” for the roof top bar. We asked just to ride up, take a look, and come back down. She told us they weren’t offering “tours”. Customer service at its worst.

Would we come back? Maybe. We really enjoyed the pianist in the lobby, and the surface parking was convenient and reasonable. I’m just glad we didn’t have to pay for the suite.

Overall, we had a better experience at The Fairfield in Princeton, WV the next night . ($140)

I stayed at the Memphian recently. It has it’s positives and negatives.
The good: the hotel & rooms are decorated very nicely. It certainly feels like an upscale hotel. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. They have a LaVazza coffee/espresso maker in the rooms & the coffee was delicious. The shower has a big rainfall shower head.
The bad: I visited the front desk twice while there and both times I was unsure who was actually working. Employees were sitting in nearby couches. When they did return to the check in desk, I was not treated with a “welcome to the Memphian” or a “hello, how can I help you”, but rather just a curt “last night”. My room (#620) was directly under the “Tiger & Peacock” lounge. For much of the evening my sleep was disturbed not only by the music, but mostly by the sound of the bar stools scrapping across the floor every time a customer sat down or got up (like nails on a chalk board at regular intervals for hours). When I checked out in the morning, the lady at the front desk asked how my stay was and I told her that I did not get much sleep due to the noise from the lounge. There was no apology or offer of restitution - just awkward silence. There were no coffee mugs in my room. I had to return to the front desk to get some and it appeared to be a great inconvenience for them to locate some coffee mugs for me. There was a big tumble weed of hair that rolled out of the bathroom when I closed the door.
While the hotel is decorated lovely, I value a good nights sleep and good customer service over design. You might be okay staying here if you don't get a room near the lounge and perhaps the front desk staff will be having a better day. I personally will be staying elsewhere in the future.

This is a beautiful hotel. Bed was firm, but I like it that way. One of the best hotel beds I have enjoyed in a while. The hotel is clean and stunning with fun quirky design. The service in the restaurant is a bit slow, but that is just how things are during the pandemic. The food was excellent and I enjoyed my latte. This is not the hotels fault, but I am so sick of bachelorette/bachelor parties or birthday parties at high end hotels. They should limit rooms to two adults if it isn't a family. I hate spending good money for a nice hotel and listen to drunken people screaming and making a ruckus all night. There should be special floor for the party people so they can keep each other up. Otherwise it was a nice staycation and I would recommend it to other people.

After staying at The Memphian a few times, I feel like I can give an honest review. The Memphian is my favorite hotel to stay at when visiting Memphis. The location is great for all of the places we like to go and there are many GREAT restaurants within walking distance of the the hotel. Every staff member that I have encountered has been pleasant, welcoming, and accommodating—including the hotel manager who I recently met on my last stay. The rooms are clean and well stocked. When you enter—the decor is fun and modern. I even love music you hear overhead/in the background—-it’s a good vibe. I know some reviews have mentioned the parking lot being too small, but I’ve never had any issues getting a spot. It is very well lit and I like that you need keycard access to enter AND leave the lot. I also like that a key card is necessary for the elevator to get to your floor. I have eaten at the hotel restaurant (Complicated Pilgrim) and the food and service was exceptional.
While I haven’t tried the roof top bar yet, I plan to at some point. From what I understand, there is a dress code and reservations are needed, so plan for that if you decide to go.

We had a reservation at the roof bar for 5:30 and saw our waitress 3 time. Menu, drink delivery, and had to seek her out to get our check at 7:40. 1 Drink in that time. Went to proch and Parlor for dinner and got back to hotel at 9:45. Someone charged $68 worth of g\food and drink to my rood at 8:04 and they have not corrected itat this time after 4 phone calls. No sympathy from staff either. I disputed the charge today on my card. Ridiculous!

This hotel has so many positives. The staff is super friendly and professional. The rooms and common areas are clean and updated. The restaurant downstairs for breakfast was delicious. The major downfall is the room layout. The front door is basically in the bathroom. The sink is right when you want in and other than the glass shower door, there is no privacy from the shower to the front door. So as long as you are really comfortable with your roomy you are good.
Some other pluses, there is a tap with chilled water on the floor.
Tip I wish I knew. Park in the public garage behind the hotel for $6 a night. The lot attached to the hotel charged $20 for less than 24 hours.
