This hotel is quite different from your usual Marriott. It is an older hotel that has been redone in a modern theme. As others have said you check in at the bar and get two tokens for free cocktails. They were really tasty and the beer prices on the menu were reasonably priced. We used valet parking which is right out front for $25 a day. We were given a room on the 6th floor with a view of the Mississippi and the bridge, very pretty lit up at night. When you step out the back door the trolley stop is right there, very convenient and there is a bus stop at the front of the hotel. Now a few things we didnt like. Our room was very dark with poor lighting, no fridge and we didnt ask for one. We never saw a housekeeper the 3 nights we were there. Not even in the hallway. No coffee pot, but there was coffee in the am in the lobby. We had enough towels but they could use more towel bars. Just one small bar to hang towels to dry and the commode/shower room is very small with a sliding door. Nice to have the vanity/sink outside that area. Our shower door leaked in one corner. All said and done, we would stay here again. We loved the location and convenience of taking the trolley to Beale St. There were restaurants and a Walgreens nearby. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.

I stayed at the Moxy in August because I was in town for a friends birthday. It was so nice. Like really nice. It is a millennial dream from the hanging chairs near the the elevator to the check-in/bar set up. There was also outside seating areas to drink and relax as well.

Upon checking in, we received a poker chip for a free drink at the bar. We were also told about bar hours and other things. It's not a very tall hotel, so our room was on the third floor. The views of downtown Memphis were very nice! It was a pretty big room as far as hotel rooms go. The bathroom was rather small, but the aesthetics of the room made up for it. The hotel staff were always nice, friendly and asked if we needed anything when we were in the lobby.

The hotel was incredibly secure too. You needed your hotel key to enter the building each time. It's also a decent distance from Beale Street, though it would be probably better to just take an Uber and walk back if you had to.

I don't have a lot of cons, to be honest. There's no microwave in the room, but there's a microwave in the lobby and that was fine enough for me. They have valet parking available, but I found it sort of high and just parked at a nearby parking lot for way cheaper. Also, the iron isn't in the room, but on every other floor in a so called "iron-room". It's great if you live on the floor that has one, but a bit annoying if you don't. I suggest that the hotel have irons in rooms without the iron room.

Another sort of con was how housekeeping worked. There's three different options. One is to have your room serviced every day (like typical hotel housekeeping), fresh towels left at your door each day for your old ones, or no housekeeping until you leave. This wasn't mentioned at check-in (but we did check in at a busy time, so it's possible they just forgot to ask us) and by the time we found out about the different options, it was our last day. Also, the trash cans in the room are very small and fill up quickly.

There was also a gym that looked nice, but I typically don't use gyms while on vacation, but just found it worth mentioning.

All in all, it is definitely one of the better hotels to stay at in Memphis and I can't wait to stay there again!

The Moxy was a super fun, new, very warm and original experience. They have valet parking, the staff was very friendly and nice, the lobby has a bar with guitars, record players, and a dining area, and the elevators had turf on the walls. It was super cool. The room was awesome too, a huge tv, two double beds, beautiful bathroom, and we had a record player and old style phone in our room. Definitely recommend.

Arrived at 10PM on a Monday, was told hey had sold out of all King rooms (although I had a reservation for one). FD staff told me I should have arrived earlier if I wanted a King room, silly me reserving a King room and expecting one... At 6ft 6in I am a whole lot more comfortable in a King rather than the Double they provided (which again is why I reserver and pre paid for one).

FD Staff then told me she gave me the best rate she could for the room, for the inconvenience, and a free bottle of water.

Annoyed I went to the room to go to sleep. On my flight home I realized that I had been charged $10 MORE than my reservation ($195.24 vs reserved $185).

Got in the shower the next morning, found out that I had 2 bottles of conditioner but no shampoo or soap in the shower (hotel uses the big refillable bottles). Of course I am now in the shower, wet etc...., BTW showering with conditioner does not make you silky smooth just makes you not feel clean when done.

Nice building, poor staff/management.

Hi there 996martint, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We value every bit of feedback - good, bad, and in-between. We want to get it right every single time and we are putting together a game plan to make sure this doesn't happen again. We looked into your reservation, it looks like you had a bar charge for $8.77, and also paid room taxes on your room rate, if you're tax exempt or didn't join us at the bar, please let us know and we'll have those charges straightened out. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and we'll keep our fingers crossed that you'll give us another shot. Thanks!

I am not one to normally post a negative review, However my experience at the Moxy in Memphis was just terrible and Marriott should review the management team here because they are poorly representing their brand.

Let’s start with the room and housekeeping. I stayed in this hotel for a week and I understand that there are shortages of help and that the hotel does not offer daily cleaning unless requested but in the case of this hotel they did not even clean my room when I did request it. I asked every other day that I was here for someone to come and pick up my towels and make my bed and clean the room. Instead I ran out of towels had a pile of heaping towels in my bathroom that I had to stare out the entire time I was here to where I finally had to put them out in the hallway for someone to take them away. Really poor service. They actually set up a towel replenishment section on even numbered floors. So if you were on an odd number floor you had to take the elevator to get some.

The bar. While it’s a nice set up, they were out of just about everything they had on their menu especially red wine. Every single day I would come back from work and request a glass of red wine and I was told they were out of red wine and that their manager was going to be bringing some the next day. This went on for the entire time of my stay and as I’m checking out today they are still out of red wine. They are also out of several items on their food menu including most of the breakfast sandwiches. Lastly it appears they are neglecting to replenish their to go area with parfaits (some had prep dates that were over a week old) and additional drinks as every day the case is emptier and emptier without being refilled.

The staff just doesn’t seem to care when I asked him about what’s going on. They just shrugged her shoulders and apologize.

I’m really sorry that I made the choice to stay here. It was one of the worst Marriott experiences I’ve ever had and I will not be returning.

It’s a cute hotel for a chain, that is built on the concept of smaller rooms for a slightly lower price point. Personally, I could do without the overt poly-sexual references in their materials. The gym only allows three people in at a time so one has to get a key at the bar. There are no coffee machines in the room but you can get a free coffee at the bar. They give you a free drink voucher at checkin which helps as well. There is no fridge in the room and there are no closets: just wall hooks. The latter worked for a short stay. The former was a bummer relative to not being able to bring leftovers back to the room.

It’s in a good location across from the park, a block from the Riverside Drive and in walking distance of Beale Street. It is however a bit noisy. So I kept the bathroom fan on as white noise. Overall, it did better than several other hotels I have been in since the pandemic began. There was no evidence of violations of Covid-19 pre-cautions, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for one night in September. Loved the modern, trendy, yet laid-back vibes. Staff were friendly and obliging. Each person in our party was given a token to exchange for a complimentary drink from the bar - the Moxy signature cocktail was a favorite. The room I was given had a noisy AC unit. Went back to discuss at the front desk and was changed to another, larger room, without any fuss. The rooms are generally on the small side, but quirky and comfortable for a short stay. My only gripe is that there is no coffee or tea available in the rooms (standard at Moxy hotels) although staff are happy to make you a complimentary drink at breakfast. Location is good, in the center of downtown, next to the Trolley, and a short walk from Bealle St, the river, civil rights museum etc. Valet parking is available, while self-parking is also available a short distance away. Would definitely recommend.

Moxy

Refreshingly modern and quirky, the Moxy in Memphis is located just steps from the waterfront. This is a different kind of hotel, where the front desk doubles as a bar and the lobby features free pinball machines, snacks, and assorted instruments hanging on the walls.

You're guaranteed to enjoy your next stay in Memphis when you book a room at the Moxy hotel with a a waterfall shower and extra comfy beds. Good vibes only!

The Moxy is in a great location but they have spent too much energy trying to be cool and edgy at the expense of basic things like a bar fridge and servicing your room daily. The rooms are very small with no where to comfortably open a suitcase. Staff were ok but not overly attentive and I had one extremely bad encounter where despite me having checked in for an extra night I had a male member of staff aggressively beating on my door demanding I leave immediately. Quite an intimidating experience. They only service rooms by request too, it’s not a pandemic anymore, there is no excuse for this type of reduction in service to continue because they are certainly not reducing the price too match! If not for the comfy bed and great location this would be 1 star.

The Moxy has earned my business. I’ve stayed at Hilton’s, Marriott’s, and basically all major hotel chains and the Moxy is a blend of everything good that other hotels offer. I rarely write reviews but when something or someone deserves credit or a negative comment I will post accordingly.

First of all, every single staff member I’ve met during my three stays has been outstanding. Everyone has a smile and willing to assist you with any concern or request you may have. “Monty Max” was my first encounter as he checked me into the hotel for my first time and made me feel at home and guided me to many great spots in Memphis.

The hotel has swag, hip vibes, playful atmosphere and really good baristas :)

The Gym and Bedrooms extremely clean and smell great each and every time I’ve visited. In addition, it has a great location as everything is within walking distance.

Keep doing you Moxy 👍🏽
