Detailed Reviews
I enjoyed the stay at this hotel staff were friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and clean with a nice private bathroom. Breakfast was free but not to my liking as I’m not into continental but there is plenty of places within walking distance if you fancy a traditional Scottish breakfast.
The bar prices were very reasonable and service was good.
I can’t say much about the food as I didn’t eat there.
I would say it’s very noisy with the nightclub on the weekends but again that didn’t bother me and the staff do offer earplugs to drown out the noise.
As we came up from London for a jolly up with our Scottish friends for the weekend this was an ideal place to stay and party were looking forward to coming back here in December to celebrate Hogmanay with our Scottish friends.

Stayed here last year and again this week. New owners have done some work to the hotel but it still has a bit to go. £4.60 for a pint of carling is ridiculous.
£4.00 for a pint of tennents. Exterior was getting painted. Staff are really friendly.

Absolute shambles of a hotel. Arrived to check in and there was nothing on their system to start with. Eventually found the booking and luckily enough they had an empty room. The noise thing wasn't an issue for myself but a couple were checking in, in front of me and you could tell that they were disappointed about the night club being open til 3am and we're offered ear plugs, not professional in my opinion. I was charged twice, though refunded quickly to be fair. In the morning I went for a shower and no hot water. When I spoke to the manager in the morning apparently the boiler went at night and couldn't get a plumber, however when I checked into the hotel I washed my hands in the room to freshen up and there wasn't hot water then. Facilities were pretty basic and only really paying for the location

Hello Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we did have to replace the full boiler - however we do offer a communal electric shower that is available for all guests to access. We appreciate this is not ideal but unfortunately some things are out with our control and we do our best as a business to manage the situation. With regards to the noise - everyone is told in a confirmation email as well as a disclaimer photo on the booking page. Then informed again upon check in. We hope you can try us again in the future. Kind Regards Danielle

The worse hotel experience ever. If you want somewhere decent then my advise is to pay a little more and stay somewhere else. My partner and I booked a room for 2 days.It was our first time in Balloch. We paid for an ensuite and decided not to book the room with the shared bathroom. Upon check in, they gave us a room where the shower was mouldy, toilet had gross limescale, toilet door wouldn't shut and the hot water was not running down but to the right of the tap. We complained and were given another room. The shower had mould but not as much. The towel in the bathroom was dirty. Looks like the previous guest cleaned their make up/ foundation on it. This room was still OK compared to the other. They told us the boiler isn't working but they've called someone to fix it. The second day the boiler was still not working nor was it working by the time we left. They told us we are welcome to use the shared bathroom which had electric shower. I didn't pay extra money for an ensuite to then use a shared bathroom so as you can imagine I was pretty annoyed. On the third day we checked out. At night the other guests were really rude and talking loudly in the hall (not really the hotel's fault but that's the type of customer that this hotel typically attracts). In the hotel club, they played loud music on Friday which we could hear from our room making sleep almost impossible. The reception area is always empty but that's their tactic. If there is no one who you are going to complain to, right? My partner and I left on the second night because we couldn't sleep because of the loud music and noise. We checked out early and drove home at 12.am even though we had paid to stay over that night. So I basically paid £160 for one night for bythe most horrible hotel. I don't get why they are even classed as a hotel . I will definitely come back to Balloch but not this hotel EVER again.

Very welcoming staff at checkin. We had a slight issue with the radiator in our room, within 5 minutes a heater was provided and within 20 minutes we were moved to another room. The room was spotless and everytime we spoke to a staff member they were lovely, the lady manager was amazing and I can’t thank her enough for making the stay pleasant for my teenage daughter. We booked on a night when the club downstairs was on. We spent the night dancing and singing in our room which anyone who has a 16 year old will know they are at an age when they want to go clubbing but aren’t old enough. The music kept her occupied and giggling for hours. Would definitely stay again

+1
The only positive I have to say about this place is the staff were lovely.
If, like me, you dont scroll through the photo gallery, you will have no idea there is loud music on from approx 8pm-3am. There is only one photo among all the gallery stating this, nothing written in the description AT ALL.
Nor is there anything written in the description of the sub standard rooms that there are no photos of!!
I was given room 1, my daughter was going to book in to stay the night, but when she saw the room, decided to return home instead. She's used to the finer things in life, im used to camping & hostelling, so to pay £66 for a hotel room & get this, you'll understand why I leave this scathing review.
I asked if I could be moved away from the music venue, I got room 17 which looked slightly better. Then I noticed the burst divan, the soiled carpet, the hole in the wall, the patched up door, the wall light that didnt work. None of these would affect my sleep though! THEN I sat on the bed, squeaky & very lumpy. I lifted the matress to find a soiled valance sheet stuffed in there, perhaps to compensate for the lack of any support structure in the divan base. I actually had to put the matress on the floor to sleep, it was that bad. The matress was of the cheapest quality & even with a quilt as a matress topper, I could feel the springs through it.
At 8pm, the sound system checks started.
This would be a great place to stay if you wanted to party then straight upstairs to bed, drunk enough to not care where you sleep! but Id had 4hrs sleep the night before, had walked all day & was doing a 26mile walk the next day & had planned for an early night & an early start.
The door closer made doors slam shut throughout the night with guests coming & going.
The shared bathroom was one wc & one shower! I actually felt dirtier leaving than I did when I arrived. This place has, by a long shot, been the worst place Iv stayed in.

This is the worse experience I’ve ever had in my life. The music is SO loud that I feel like I’m in the club. My bed is literally vibrating. On top of that, the shower only had hot water. It was burning hot. On top of that our toilet won’t flush. We were here on a Saturday. I understand that it’s also a club but there should be some sort of warning. The music was not described accurately in any reviews of the space. The base is SOOOO loud and on top of that, our bathroom was a complete mess. I also had an upset stomach and not able to flush the toilet. We’ve lived in hostels around the world, Thailand, Canada, Spain, Mexico, etc etc and have never had a worse experience. We’ve also been to edc and edm so we’re not scared easily. This is the worst. They said they provide ear plugs and when we went to ask for them. They only had one ear plug left….. I’m completely shocked this place is still in business.
In the beginning there was also a mix up, where we were given then keys to another room. We opened the door and someone else’s stuff were there…… like this place is completely the worst. Do not stay here!!!!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE, stay accross the road instead! Misleading photos of the room online. They only posted the photos of the room they had done up so we were lead to believe this was the one we were booking. The manager even told us they were having trouble uploading all the different room photos as their reason when we complained. We had 2 nights booked and cancelled not long after being shown our disgusting, dusting, old, outdated room but we were refused any refund even though it stated on the website "partially refundable- you will be charged the first night if you cancel after reservation". They took a good few days to respond to us after we kept inquirying about our refund and in this time they uploaded the other photos of the rooms to their site, told us we were lying and that the photos had always been posted, then stopped contact with us. Fun fact: the photos the hotel uploaded afterwards that they said we were lying about, have the exact same bed wrinkles, pillow placement, and item placement of the photos I took of the room when we complained. Its very clear that they uploaded these afterwards to get out of the refund, they might even be our exact photos we emailed them...... 🤦♀️ Absolutely deceitful hotel, disgusting customer service, and poor communication.

The hotel was very convenient, right on the main street. Easy walk to the shops, the riverside, the local campsite, with a charming walk through the woods along the riverbank. The room was spacious but rather crowded with two double beds, but the staff were very helpful, accommodating the bike securely through the back on the ground floor. Radiators were warm in the bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was a bit of a game but worked out ok. Great for a one night stay on the LEJOG route from Glasgow to Callander.

We've stayed here twice before but it has definitely nose dived since then. Place is completely run down, carpets ripped, paintwork all chipped & grubby looking. The rooms are completey bare no bedside cabinets or even a chair to sit on £90 for basically a double bed, no hot water in shower & a shallow wardrobe that doesn't fit the clothes on hangers. Checked out early about 9.45 & requested where in the hotel could we buy breakfast to be told its finished & not good anyway as just serve rolls, we were directed up the road to a cafe. Most staff were lovely but some especially in the bar leave a lot to be desired. The glasses were also filthy and we've came home feeling unwell. Only good thing about the stay was the live band.
