Detailed Reviews
A very warm welcome awaits from the family at this lovely family accommodation in a dorma annex to a large bungalow right in the middle of the village with plenty eating options and attractions nearby. We spent a night here on an overnight stop on our way North. The location was perfect with plenty to do at the Loch nearby - we explored the grounds of Balloch Castle which are very fine.
The bunk beds and facilities are comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped. There is also a shared sitting room outside the bedroom, which is useful for sitting while the youngest children get to sleep. Also, tea and coffee facilities plus a toaster/ microwave should you need it.
After a few months of lock-down, the owners have spent time developing the accommodation further - some of this needs finishing off and it will be even nicer once this is all complete.
The family's children were so very welcoming and showed us their family of chickens in the large garden. All too soon it was time to say goodbye.

Thankyou Chorley for your detailed review. So glad you enjoyed our location and appreciated the work we did over lock down to make our guesthouse an even more welcoming place to stay. We find a lot of families find the shared sitting room ideal for when the kids are off to sleep as they can keep an eye on them without disturbing them but still get some much need adult rest and time themselves! Thankyou for pointing this out.

My family and I had such a lovely stay at Bellavista. It was perfect as we wanted a family self contained style accommodation for a couple of nights. It was so easy as we arrived by train from Glasgow and the property is situated literally round the corner. we also had a boat trip on Loch Lomond which set off from just across the road from Bellavista. The accommodation itself was great. Really comfy beds with feather duvets and great pillows. Our own bathroom with great water pressure. There was also a kettle, toaster, microwave and little fridge in the room. We had a room with bun beds for our 2 kids and 2 singles for us adults. There was a sofa bed but we decided to have that for sitting rather than sleeping as just for 2 nights. The decor was very stylish and everything was very clean. We had a view of the Loch which was lovely. Rhonda has obviously spent a lot of time and love into making the rooms feel light, airy and stylish. There is a shared communal space central to the individual lockable rooms which guests are welcome to use. I would definitely recommend Bellavista for a stay. Balloch is a great little place to visit as well with lots of choices of places to eat close at hand.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how beautifully appointed the rooms were. The owner has a nice eye for color and design in a simple, modern room. I also appreciated the many nice touches in the room, such as outlets and wall mounted reading lights at the head of each bed, a nightlight in the bathroom, a fan in the bathroom, a large eating table that could seat six, and easy to operate window shades that blocked out light. Since there were three of us, we stayed in the room with a set of bunk beds and two twins. It was a spacious room. Outside the four rooms on the second floor is a large common area with comfy seating, plenty of light, and some children's toys. It's a lovely, light-filled space in which to sit and read or for children to play indoors. I'm very glad we booked here!

Exceptionally clean and well presented guesthouse in a great location to explore Balloch and Loch Lomond. Kids had a ball in the garden enjoying the trampoline and other outdoor games. Beds were fab and the room had everything to make the stay comfortable.

Absolutely brilliant venue. Fantastic location very close to all the pubs and restaurants and the beautiful Loch Lomond.
Also very hospitable host, immaculate and very well appointed accommodation. Comfortable beds and comfortable socialising area upstairs. Nice touch with some light snacks and coffee and tea making facilities in the room. (Breakfast not included). I could not recommend this place highly enough.

This was a last minute booking as I'd been let down by another provider. Thankfully Rhonda had space and stayed up to let me in. Really nice as I was also lucky to continue my stay for the rest of the week. Also rebooked for the following week. Thanks very much Rhonda you have a lovely place in a beautiful location.

A superb bed and breakfast accomadation! Family owned and managed to an excellent standard of cleanliness and hygiene. The beds are the most comfortable we have slept in on holiday. Stunning location, situated on the gateway to the Highlands and surrounded by luxurious scenery, not to be missed.if thinking of booking the Bellavista, I would highly recommend this delightful accomadation, you will not be dissappointed.
Location has a wealth of restaurants to relax in. And also booking tours office close be. Travel to and fro is made easy by the Balloch train station being literally a 3 minute walk away. A relaxing place to chill or sightsee!

Very small rooms should not be considered a ‘triple room’ and unfriendly host - not worth the price.
When my 2 friends and I arrived in Balloch, for 20 minutes we struggled to locate the Bellavista property. It didn’t have a main doorway / entry point. The host was expecting us and told my friend to ‘park behind the property’. My friend who had made the booking was trying to contact the host when we arrived but the host wasn’t responding and didn’t make any effort to step outside to help us. We couldn’t find the entry door and the only route in is through the back garden which felt like we were trespassing into a private family’s back garden. The garden was very messy - littered with kid’s toys and random objects. Looked like someone was having a clear-out. When I built the courage to walk through the garden and knock on the property; I could see a lady inside the property seeing me but not coming out; also saw a child see me and again didn’t respond. When I eventually knocked, the lady who is the host opened the door and said she is expecting us. She lives on the ground floor of this chalet bungalow property with her family and the rented rooms are on the first floor. When we were taken to our room up a thin spiral staircase, I was shocked that this small room with a deeply slanted ceiling is considered a ‘triple’ room. It was shockingly small. There was no wardrobe or anywhere reasonable to hang anything and there was no space on the floor / furnishings to open your luggage. They squeezed a small bunk bed and a small single bed into a small attic room and believe they can get away with calling it a ‘triple’ room. In my opinion, given the size of the room, it should be classified as a single room or at most a small double/twin room. Because the rooms are so small, it is almost necessary to ‘overflow’ into the communal space outside the room. I saw other guests keeping their room door open into the communal area to give the illusion of space. The location was central and the room itself was clean; but I took the decision to give my friends more space on their own there and I booked myself at the Queen of the Loch accommodation minutes away which was fantastic, the room I booked at the Queen of the Loch was a double room and it was twice as big as the ‘triple room’ at Bellavista for the same price.
The triple rooms at Bellavista might be suitable for the solo traveller, a couple able to manoeuvre a spiral staircase easily, perhaps it might be a cosy space for 3 primary school children but for 3 adult friends spending two weeks in Scotland, you will feel like hurdled cattle in this ‘triple’ room.

Thankyou for your considerable time in leaving a review. I would like to respond to various points you have raised namely; 1. Emails are routinely sent out with directions to find the house prior to arrival. 2. You have stated the host advised your friend where to park but then claim the host was not responding which is contradictory. 3. If you had required help we would have happily came out to assist you if you had asked but being experienced travellers ourselves we do not like to rush guests when they arrive giving them plenty of time to park and sort themselves out. 4. Entry to the house is via the garden as is usual for any Guest house with grounds and is in fact shown on the directions including photos we email prior to arrival. 5. We cater for families, so yes, there are plenty of garden toys that our guests with children happily avail themselves of. 6. The triple room you are describing is clearly described on the booking.com website stating bunk beds and the square footage of the room with the pictures explicitly showing this is a loft room with the slating ceiling, as well of as our feature spiral staircase, of which we are very proud of. 7. The bunks beds are HEAVY DUTY large European size Manufactured to British Standard EN747: 2012 Part 1&2, made in the UK to accommodate adults and taller individuals taking up to 40 stone. Definitely not ‘small’. 8. Your party had enquired specifically with regards to the size of the room before you arrived so there was no ambiguity as to what it is that you had booked. 9. Your booking was for 2 nights not 2 weeks. 10. This room as well as the rest of our accommodation were designed with our partners The Scottish Tourist board, the Leader rural development project and The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park as being exactly the kind of accommodation that is needed for families and groups travelling together in the National park for short term stays. 11. We consistently receive 5 star reviews, 9.1 rating on booking.com and we have earned Superhost status on Airbnb for over a year now for this room as well as for our other rooms. I am glad you had a good stay at Queen of the Loch but it was clear you were not happy before you had even arrived. What is of interest is the apology your friend made for the manner of your departure explaining that you had not been present when she had made the booking and that it is really difficult to please everyone. In this case I have to agree.
