Spent 4 days over the New Year period - booked several rooms for our family and the facilities and rooms were absolutely and gave us all ample space.
The rooms were all very modern and clean with all the amenities required - the location of the suites was within walking distance of the ferry and all the shops and restaurants in the centre.
The views in each room were absolutely stunning.
I would absolutely recommend staying here and will certainly return again.
Sara who runs the establishment was great with advice on anything and was always available if needed

We’ve stayed at the Boathouse quite a number of times now really wouldn’t stay anywhere else, sadly at New Year the suites were fully booked so we stayed in the Nook their self catering unit at the back which is a great family unit, takes dogs and is disabled friendly. Like the boathouse suites it is finished to a high standard, fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine also installed, plenty of room in the bedroom, living room and the bathroom is a large wet room.
Would I recommend yes being disabled myself it was great.

This was a gem of a place to stay with my bubble of friends. Spotless well equipt warm accomodation hosted by Sara who could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Lovely sea views, perfect position for ferry terminal and local facilities. Really enjoyed our stay on this lovely little Island we explored every corner on foot... Tough going but worth every step. Met some great characters on the Island in the restaurants and bars our taxi drivers to the start and finish points of our walks were great for local knowledge and the banter was just great.

My wife and I have recently stayed 4 nights in "super suite 4" at this establishment.
Prior to booking our stay, we were keen to stay having read the gushing reports but our experience was not so complimentary.
We struggled to find a reason as to why the place is referred to as being "super" other than the fact that the view from our lounge was impressive when the poor weather relented enough to see it.

In the bedroom, we were provided with two dining chairs, by the bed, rather than the usual bedside cabinets. There was a tatty old chest of drawers with one of the handles missing. The 4 pillows were of extremely poor quality with no depth to them. The quilt was far too heavy and it was difficult to move one's legs whilst laying under it.

The shower in the bathroom, when being used, kept switching, without being touched, from hot to almost scalding. I actually found that very dangerous and had red marks on my body as a result. The shower head often slipped down the pole when being used.

In the lounge, the 2-sliced toaster was old and standard slices of bread had to be reduced before wedging them into the toaster slots. The microwave provided was a fairly old and very basic model where it was impossible to judge cooking times unless they were measured in exact minutes. There needed to be a small table provided, if there is actually enough space, to place a cup of tea or coffee on whilst sitting on the settee. As it stands, if you want any drink whilst sitting on the settee, it needs to be placed on the floor. This is not an ideal scenario, in particular, if waiting for boiling hot drinks to cool. The lounge tv was absolutely tiny and placed just below the ceiling level. I found that I was regularly getting neckache within 15 minutes each time I tried to watch it.

The blurb with the property, seen in the hall, was that we were going to be provided with initial breakfast ingredients including 3 cereals. The items we were left were very basic and minimal. The cereals were one plastic container with muesli and one containing maybe about 10 spoonfuls of corn flakes at best. There was no 3rd cereal provided.

The light switches, used to illuminate both the bedroom and the bathroom, are on the wrong side of the wall before entering the rooms. In both cases, they should be on the left-hand side of the door.

Again, as I opened this review, neither my wife nor I could find anything super other than the view. Apart
from that, the accommodation was basic at the very best.

I write this review as we experienced the property and hope that the owner will take on board the comments I make. I certainly do not think that, as a result of the points I make, the property was worth the sum that we paid for our stay.

Response from sara goss, Owner at Boat House Super Suites

I just read all your other reviews and I am delighted with a two star from yourself! It's like getting a 1 star from AA Gill himself. I usually always love meeting my guests - and in this case I never had the chance to meet you, however, it's not something I will worry about. My view of the world and yours will forever be poles apart and thank crikey for that. Seems I can't please everyone with my sense of style and I don't ever intend to. The ONLY thing relevant here is you stayed for 4 nights and NOT once got in touch with the many issues you had? Not once did you even think to call me or pop around the back where I live, or even out your door when I was in the house cleaning? The shower was an issue I could have addressed immediately as I have spares and my lovely plumber is on hand at anytime. My expensive branded kettle and toaster are deeply insulted as they are only 10 months old. My duvet is a 10 tog, as you may have noticed Scotland summer has not yet happened here. My pillows again are expensive hypoallergenic ones. The rest? I gie up! As my wise old Aunty Pat says 'If you don't like it dear, please go somewhere else' With love and happiness and kindness - The Boat House Super Suites. xxxxx

The Boathouse is magnificent, with the highest standard of self catering super suites. I had a beautiful ground floor apartment, very spacious, very clean, well equipped, with private outdoor seating areas at the back and front, with unbeatable views over Rothesay Bay and glorious sunsets. The landlady Sara is very welcoming.
All equipment you need to eat in is provided in the suite, and even a choice of breakfast cereals included along with fruit juice, bread, butter, marmalade, jam, milk and tea and coffee! Home from home, great place to chill. It’s FIVE STARS from me!

What a wonderful spot! Location is wonderful - 6 minutes walk from the ferry, the co-op, central square, bus stop, & visitors center. Each suite has unique decor and I really appreciated the sturdy wood table in Suite 3 (on the 2nd floor) and the comfortable sofa and chairs in front of the HUGE bay window. I spent a lot of time each day in those chairs, watching the harbor, mist over the surrounding islands, weather, birds, and dog walkers. Their web site photos accurately depict the rooms but don't show how sparkling clean the suites are or how helpful the owner (Sara) is.

I enjoyed the homemade marmalade and the flexibility to make my own breakfast with the provided supplies. Very quiet and good sleep. All furnishings were well chosen and showed a nice flair.

Communications were great and Sara was very responsive to questions about arrival, etc. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it highly!

The Boathouse Super Suites, are exactly that... Super Suites... Everything we needed for our stay over on Isle of Bute, with luxury, comfort, friendly and helpful staff. Beds are luxurious, comfortable and huge. My family member is disabled and we had the ground floor that was able to accommodate everything we required. Highly reccommended, 10 gold stars :)

We were here last year and it was so good, we returned for another 4 nights this year.
We stayed in the same wonderful ground floor suite which has our own private sitting area in the front and a wee area at the back which we accessed through the French windows in our bedroom.
Honestly, the Boat House is unbelievably luxurious with everything you need provided by the lovely owner Sara.
The breakfasts provided are lovely, plenty of 3 different cereals, bread, butter Jan, marmalade, yoghurt.Tins of both normal coffee and decaf, tea, sugars. If you have any special dietary requirements you just let Sara know beforehand.
I cannot say how immaculate our suite was . Not even a spec of dust anywhere. Sarah and Auntie Pat must work like Trojans to keep such a high standard. By the way, they are absolute gems and would do anything for you .
The view from the bay window is amazing and it is wonderful to sit there in the morning having your breakfast and watching the world go by
An amazing place to stay. So good we have already booked for 2023 😂❤️
Thank you Sara for yet another fabulous stay x

We only managed to stay a few nights but we could have stayed all week. Overlooking the bar and not far from the terminal. The host was really informative and let us know all the good spots to visit so that we could make the most of this stunning place.
