Lochgreen House Hotel, cherished for its traditional charm and high-quality furnishings, provides a relaxing and elegant atmosphere that guests often admire, especially the festive decorations. The spotless rooms and pristine bathrooms generally receive high marks for cleanliness, despite a rare complaint.
While some visitors feel the food and services are overpriced, the hotel's amenities, including the lush gardens, luxurious cocktail lounge, and spacious rooms, consistently impress travelers. Although the service is mostly lauded for being attentive, occasional lapses in professionalism and speed have been noted.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed at Lochgreen House for 5 nights never having been there before. We had a very nice room with a balcony and huge bathroom as well as views to the sea and hotel gardens. Staff are unfailingly helpful and will do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible despite the difficulties imposed by current events. Rooms are seen to by housekeeping every day and are spotless as are the wood panelled public areas which are set out with beautifully polished brassware, glassware and ceramics. Very comfortable and spacious lounge and adjoining bar area furnished in a traditional style is a delightful, relaxing place to spend a rainy day if necessary. The main dining room is wonderful and recreates something of an upmarket Parisien bistro. The food however is way more than 'bistro'. Truly excellent fish dishes abound and cover a range wide enough to offer up a different choice on each of the five nights we stayed. Very nice wine list with about 20 bottles in each of the white and red sections plus a few rosé and champagne. We had whites, all in the £30 - £55 price bracket and were very pleased with them. Good amuse bouche, excellent breads before and excellent desserts after for those whose appetite can stretch that far! Very good breakfasts with plenty of choices based on a fairly standard range of offerings which nicely sets you up for the day. Manicured gardens surround the hotel. Really enjoyable stay so we went back for another five nights a few weeks later.

I booked a couple of rooms, an accessibility one with walk-in shower for my mother, and a twin room for us, initially for 3 nights as my father was in hospital after a visit to A&E, so we needed to stay close.
Staff were super - couldn't do enough for us, and were so concerned when I explained about my father being in hospital. The booking changed several times depending on what the hospital told us, and also my father's condition when he came out of hospital. We ended up only staying for the one night and had to leave after dinner on the second night.
Hotel grounds and rooms were so relaxing, large and my mother enjoyed putting a key in the bedroom door lock, rather than trying to push a card into the lock. David, the concierge, explained that the hotel has tended towards being a bit more old fashioned which provides great character to the building and grounds. Due to the heating being off in her room however, my mother felt cold overnight so didn't have a great sleep. When she mentioned this, David the concierge asked Maureen - housekeeper to put extra blankets in her room. By the time we'd finished breakfast one of the housekeeping staff was taking blankets to the room. Also the heating was checked and turned up full in the room so it was much warmer for her.
When we were leaving the staff were so kind and thoughtful and my mother was overwhelmed by their kindness towards her.
Overall our stay here turned what had started out as a disappointing holiday into a memorable one. The food was excellent, the rooms were excellent, the service was outstanding and if my father had been well enough we would have stayed for all the nights we booked!

Our son and daughter-in-law had their wedding at Lochgreen last year, but this was the first time we had been back. It was so lovely to relive memories of their big day.
It was the first break we'd had since March, and we were just a little anxious at what to expect. We needn't have worried at all. The hotel felt so safe and comfortable and a perfect bolt hole for the break we really needed.
We stayed four nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast package. I think the food was even better than before! Absolutely delicious, every meal. Breakfast was excellent too. The afternoon teas looked excellent too.
The room was perfectly clean and comfortable, although I do agree with other reviews it can be a little annoying when people are having loud conversations in the corridor late at night and early in the morning (Gentlemen golfers take note please!! I don't need to know what time you are teeing off!)
Lochgreen is such a lovely place to stay. The grounds are beautifully manicured, it's a short walk across the Royal Troon golf course to Troon beaches and the views of Arran, on a clear day are stunning.
All the staff were friendly and helpful but we were particularly pleased to see concierge David, who had been so helpful at our son's wedding, still making guests feel welcome and looked after.
Highly recommended.

I was given a Bed and Breakfast gift for Christmas and my partner and I stayed on 1st of February.
Due to torn ligaments my partner was having a lot of trouble walking - and the Concierge, David, saw us and came outside to welcome us and immediately took our bags. When he was given our room number he carried them there for us. The reception staff were lovely - welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious and immaculate, and the bathroom was the same. We headed out for the evening, and were asked on our return if we had had an enjoyable time. After a good nights sleep in the large comfortable bed we headed for breakfast. There was a very good selection of cold/continental foods, plus fruit and fruit juices. The choice of cooked breakfasts was large and varied. The staff were very efficient, and the food was well cooked and presented. It was a real treat to be looked after so well. On leaving the dining room David told us to call reception when we were leaving our room and he would come for our bags. Nothing was too much trouble. As it was pouring with rain he gave us an umbrella then carried our bags all the way round to our car.
From the minute we entered the hotel until the moment we got in our car at the end of our stay we were treated with kindness and efficiency by all staff members, especially David, the Concierge. Thank you all for a truly wonderful experience.

We visited the hotel just after the first wave of COVID-19 in Scotland. Despite the restrictions, we received a very warm welcome from the staff and were made to feel safe and relaxed from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Such aspects would not normally feature in a hotel review but they were important elements in the prevailing conditions of the time.
We had a lovely spacious room with a sea view and while a bit cool it was very comfortable. The food was very good, with some of it excellent, but none of the dishes could be described as exceptional. That being the case we felt the restaurant dropped a point in “value for money” when considering the prices being charged.
The concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful with the rest of the staff being friendly and efficient. They did all they could to allow us to enjoy our break away which, at that particular time, was very much appreciated.

A very positive experience.
The staff in the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. There was a wedding on but that did not detract from the attention we received in either the bar or dining areas.
We had treatments in the Spa, part of the deal, and we're very impressed by the quality of treatment and staff. The spa area is very comfortable and provides a relaxing experience.
Our room was large with a very comfortable super king size bed, sky TV, comfortable seating area and a view over the gardens and golf course to the Clyde. The bathroom was large with separate bath and shower cubicle and the only negative comment would be that the shower cubicle was too small and we are not large people.
We had dinner in restaurant which bills itself as fine dining. The food was very good as was the service and prices for wine reasonable. Not quite the fine dining experience you would get in Glasgow or Edinburgh but still very acceptable and in a pleasant setting. Personally I think they should drop the fine dining tag as some will be disappointed by the otherwise good experience.
Breakfast was served the next morning in the same restaurant and I want to give it a special mention as there are negative reviews which do not accord with our experience. There was a small table with a selection of cereals, fruit and juices but there was a separate menu from which to order hot food. There was variety of options from the full Scottish experience through to porridge and eggs Benedict. Tea/coffee and toast wee served at the table and top ups offered. The number of staff on duty coped well with the wedding party and those of us who were not part of that group.
Finally the location of the hotel is excellent with a walk in to Troon along the side of the golf course and the promenade easily achievable.
Would not hesitate to recommend a stay at the hotel.

A two night stay as a multi purpose birthday/anniversary/out of lockdown stay did not disappoint. One feels so comfortable and spoilt from the moment of arrival in this lovely hotel. Staff are the strength of this hotel and nothing is too much trouble for anyone. Facemasks worn by all staff at all times was a reassuring touch. Bedroom was very spacious as was the well appointed bathroom. Perhaps the soft furnishings were a little dated but this is a minor point. The food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner in the newly refurbished Bisque restaurant. Staff here were so very good, even having to deal with an extremely difficult guest at breakfast. I have not doubt like the swans the feet are paddling furiously under water but the overall feeling of calm and caring for their guests gives this whole place a touch of luxury. Highly recommended as ever. Can't wait for a return visit.

As ever, Lochgreen did not disappoint.
Wonderfully warm welcome (especially from the concierges). A small marquee had been erected to facilitate an aperitif.
Dinner was a highlight with stunning menu. This made choice of dish difficult but one or two favourites were the scallops, bisque, steak, sea bass and tandoori salmon. For desserts I recommend the chef's twist on strawberries & cream. It is quite superb with a goregous panna cotta the star attraction.
Breakfast has been toned down from the usual buffet in line with covid but the usual favourites are on the menu and served to the table on piping hot plates (eg eggsbenedict, pancakes etc.).
The rooms are of course about 4 times the size of the normal hotel room and boast bathrooms big enough for a small ceilidh, if restrictions only permitted.
Great team of staff (most new to ourselves as LGH regulars). We will return soon.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel.
The gardens and surroundings are fabulous; very well maintained and beautifully manicured.
Staff though out the hotel are friendly and efficient; doing their best to make guest's stay enjoyable. Bar prices are reasonable and the bar itself relaxing.
The bedrooms are large and nicely decorated. Our room like the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean. However, our bed was uncomfortable and a bit lumpy. The bathroom was well fitted with a lovely cast iron bath as well as an efficient shower. Unfortunately, the hot water wasn't too warm.
A couple of issues we found with the room was the lack of a thermostat to regulate the temperature and the frugality of the tea and coffee provided.
Breakfast was very good; freshly cooked to order.

We celebrated our Mum’s 80th birthday yesterday with afternoon tea for the whole family at the hotel. The tea was amazing with a wide variety of cakes, scones and sandwiches. Really delicious!
The hotel is beautiful inside and out with beautifully manicured gardens. Although it was a rainy day and we couldn’t take advantage of them, it was beautiful to look out on to them.
The main thing that made this an outstanding experience for us was the staff. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, they could have not been more welcoming and accommodating. My mum is in a wheelchair and they made her feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. They offered us unlimited tea and coffee with lots of extra jam and cream too. We also had 4 children with us and they made them feel really welcome. The cakes and scones were way too much for us and without prompting the staff offered to box up the leftover so we could take them away. Our mum has quite complex needs and they even offered to help with that. Nothing really was too much trouble.
Thank you to the gentleman and lady that served us (I am sorry I didn’t get your names) you made an important family celebration even more special for us and we are very grateful.

No idea sorry. We did not stay at the hotel. I would guess between 20 and 40
According to Google it is pet friendly, there is a lodge separate from the main hotel building "offering all the amenities of home". I would say it's worth a phone call. I have never seen dogs within the main hotel but that does not mean that they are not allowed.
Check out usually 11 00hrs!
Yes the hotel has balconies great views over looking the golf courses and seaviews and gardens
