Detailed Reviews
we had not been to Fort Augustus for 13 years and so glad we found this gem of a guest house, the whole place was spotless, and even though there was no cooked breakfast there was a variety of cereals and fresh milk you could help yourself to. the way the contactless check in worked was excellent. The views were amazing from every viewpoint. only thing i have to say is we wish we had booked more than the 2 nights we were there, however it just means we have to go back. i would recommend this place to anyone.

We have stayed here a few times over the years as it is always very clean, comfortable and is very convenient for fort Augustus. Due to covid hot breakfast is not being served has Weaver they have laid out muffins and cereals and hot drinks can be made which is all we needed. The staff responded quickly to messages via the booking.com app as well. The room was starting to get a little run down compared to earlier visits however I would still highly recommend to anyone looking for comfortable good value accommodation.

We booked for a nights stay Sat 25th Feb as we were visiting the area and found the Loch Ness Guest House and from previous reviews and also pictures of the guest house opted to try it out. As it mentions it is a contactless check in and all details were provided to my wife via email on access into the building along with room number reserved for us. Our room number was No3 which was at the front of the building facing the main road which didn’t really affect our sleep as there wasn’t much traffic throughout the night. The room and en-suite were spotless, a nice big king size bed with a very comfortable mattress and we both slept like logs. We did have one enquiry which was for the wifi password as it wasn’t in the welcome book so the wife texted the number that was in the welcome pack and they were very quick with getting back to us with it. We were told it was in the welcome pack but can confirm it wasn’t but I did find it in the main lounge area whilst the wife was sending the message. The communal lounge area is very welcoming and nicely presented with a log burner which can only be put on by staff. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again and would recommend. It’s only a few minutes walk from all amenities which was very handy and parking provided at the guest house. We give the guest house 5* review but just a couple of points which I thought didn’t justify giving it less and that was there was no hair shampoo or conditioner in the en-suite and unsure whether this was meant to be supplied like other hotels although there was hand wash, and secondly the wifi wasn’t the best in the room (No3) and kept on dropping so not to sure whether the signal strength wasn’t strong enough to this part of the building as it was fine in the communal lounge area, a booster might be needed to resolve this issue but with all the walking and fresh air that took place during the day when we got to the room we just wanted to chill and just sleep but just thinking on those that might want to stream any movies if they stayed. Thank you for our enjoyable stay and hope to be back in the near future!

We stayed for 1 night in one of the guest rooms on the first floor. The property overall felt really clean and safe, check in was contactless as the key was left in our room which we were notified of by email prior to arrival. It was slightly expensive considering breakfast currently isn't included, I'm not sure why this is as other b&bs in the area are providing it. Really good central location round the corner from the main sites of the village, which itself is absolutely beautiful.

+1
On arrival place looked lovely.
Beautiful location.
Excellent views.
Visit during Covid-19.
Received email in advance telling us our room number and the keys would be in the lock waiting for us. Thought that was a great idea under the circumstances. Note was waiting for us on arrival stating they wasn’t going to be a cooked breakfast but they had a list of places where we could book. They were supplying cereal, tea and coffee and to help ourselves. This was supplied in a communal area. Next morning when we went for breakfast at around 9.30 obviously other guests had already had their breakfast. We expected that a member of the staff would have been around tiding up and explaining things. Not a member of staff in sight.
The kitchen area was littered with used crockery and cutlery. The tables were covered in crumbs and the area around the tables hadn’t been cleaned. How many guests had opened the fridge, touched the kettle, had hands in cutlery box, used the milk?
Felt very uncomfortable and unsafe in this environment.
Haven’t seen a member of staff yet.
Very, very disappointed.

This was one of the most expensive B&Bs we stayed at on our Scottish tour, but this was the only one with no breakfast.
Got a text to say that there would be no-one to check us in. Just told us which room we'd got and it was open.
Nicely done out. A few tables outside. Nice view from garden.
Not keen on the communal kitchen. If you want a hot drink you have to go downstairs to the lounge and share a kettle, etc with all the other guests. Not great during Covid. There is a good choice of drinks but this was our only accommodation where we didn't have drink facilities (and biscuits) in the room. A minus point from me, especially when you want your early morning cuppa.
Be aware that some doors have downward steps immediately behind them, but no warning signs.
The first thing you see in the bathroom is a notice warning how much they'll charge you if you remove any of the toiletries. This was despite the fact that there were no toiletries other than 2 small rounds of soap.
Location was good. Nice views all round. Pheasants wandering the garden in the morning. 5 mins downhill to the locks, restaurants, shops etc. Plenty of choice for eateries but none were cheap. Takeaway fish and chips for one were £8+! But can't blame the guest house for that.
Despite not offering breakfast, there was a variety of single cereal boxes or porridge sachets available in the communal kitchen.
So, a nice enough place, but for a similar price elsewhere we got cooked breakfasts included, drinks facilities in the room, and toiletries.

Firstly, we were told on arrival via a hand typed note that they weren’t able to do breakfast? I’m not sure what the reason for this was as all the other b&b’s have managed it? I felt they were taking liberties due to covid19 as they were still charging the same price and it was obvious that they did breakfast at one time as the dining room was set up. We could apparently help ourselves to cereal from the kitchen but there was no milk provided and the cereal boxes had seen better days. We had no coffee or tea facility in the room either but were told we could take a kettle from the kitchen? I’m not sure why this wasn’t provided anyway if we could help
ourselves to a kettle.
In my friends room the tv didn’t work and the sink took ages to empty obviously blocked and there was no toilet brush. My room was ok and the beds were comfy and the pillows.
I just got the impression it was run by a holiday letting company and not the owners and no one cared about the guests. Nice house just very unloved

Fortunately we were only here for one night. The room we had was very small for two people. There is only one chair in the room and if one is sitting at the desk checking emails the other has to clamber over the bed. The bathroom is of a good size. Towels are freshly laundered. Now we come to the bath, it was covered in some sort of scum which I could wipe off with my hand. Either the bath has not been cleaned for days or the cleaning is done with incorrect fluid and not rinsed off. The shower is dripping and, unless you leave it in the bath, this makes a loud noise. Owing to these matters it is unlikely we will be back. Not recommended for anybody else

We just booked the one night. on our road trip. arrived dusk struggled to see key code entry. no staff, keys and info on the bed once found room!! roms clean and tidy. road noise through windows. lounge etc nice but can't use gorgeous log burner. fine for a stopover but wouldn't want several day!! all too much DIY!! £90 for night bit steep. breakfast bits a nice touch but prefer going down to breakfast and it being available or served by staff like last 3 places stayed at for similar price.

Stopped here for one night, 17th August 2020 in a twin room.
Firstly, dealing with Covid, the guest house have got a great system in place. Very clear instructions and great communication.
Parking is off street but covered with CCTV so our bikes were secured and left as safe as you can.
The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The area was quiet enough that sleeping with the window open was not a problem. Fantastic shower 🚿
Check out was also done with covid in mind and worked seamlessly.
We will definitely return and stay here again, Thank you
