Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a double room for two nights and had dinner on the first night and breakfast both mornings. The stand out for me was the service and the staff -the gentleman we dealt with (I didn't catch his name!) was incredibly professional and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.
The room was very comfortable and warm too with a good heater, as I always find hotel rooms to be a bit chilly.
Comfy bed, great shower - no complaints. The main meal (steak) was cooked perfectly and tasted beautiful as did the breakfast. Location is remote enough to be super peaceful but near enough to Fort Augustus should you need a shop or cash machine.

Stayed here with my fiancé in August 2020 for two nights, and found it a great experience to immerse yourself in the Highland culture. Parking is free at the side of the hotel up a slight hill. You can see Loch Ness from the front of the hotel grounds, and inside if you sit in the front windows with a single malt. The fires are lit at night to add to the cosy lodge feel, and there are plenty of books to read. The walls are decorated with old pictures and paintings, detailing the history of the hotel. This hotel could tell some stories!
The hotel restaurant is a bit pricey and we did not eat here (you're talking £27:50 for a rib-eye steak), but apparently it is top class.
The rooms are spacious, and has a dorm window above the bed, and when the rain fell throughout the night it was a relaxing experience. The walls are quite thin, but most people who stay here are of the quiet type.
Loch Ness is minutes away by car, Inverness is about an hour away, if that. It is a very quiet location, perfect to get away from it all. The bar also offers lots of different scotch whiskeys, which range in price. Staff were very helpful too!
To consider - if going from May-September, there may be lots of midges outside (if it's damp, warm, no wind and overcast), so cover up and take insect repellent, or just stay inside. You will be bitten otherwise!
Fort Augustus is within walking distance, but personally wouldn't recommend going as not much there and restaurants aren't great
Would absolutely recommend this place, it is a gem of a hotel in a beautiful location.

We stayed for one night on our way over to Skye. The hotel is fantastic value for money, based on what we paid the hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel - an old hunting lodge - has maintained character with traditional looking interior whilst also looking fresh and clean. We didn't have dinner, but breakfast was great. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Staff, especially the hotel manager, were incredibly kind and welcoming.

Stayed here for one night to visit Loch Ness, as our main base was in Loch Awe. Booked a family room for two adults & two children, plus one dog.
Had a very warm welcome from the manager & check in was fast & efficient. We were on the top floor & I didn’t expect more than a room with 4 beds, how wrong I was! The room was more like a suite, with a separate (but adjoining) room for the kids, with their own TV & window.
Our part of the suite had a lovely view of Loch Ness, with a nice period fireplace, sofas & the thoughtful touch of a dog bed & bowl.
The teas, coffees, mugs & toiletries were in plentiful supply, as well as towels.
The room was spotlessly clean, the beds very comfortable & the room comfortably warm.
Breakfast in the morning was generous & beautifully cooked, and it was no trouble at all when both kids went off-menu with scrambled egg on toast.
We didn’t eat here in the evening, as we didn’t want to leave the dog & we’re not hugely hungry after our lunch, but the food being bought out looked good.
I am a huge fan of tartan decor, so I loved the traditional look of this hotel, particularly the lounge, which I can imagine is lovely & cosy in the Autumn & Winter when the fire is roaring.
I would not hesitate to come back here & cannot recommend highly enough.

We booked here ( 2 x double superior rooms) for a special family birthday primarily expecting to have a first class dining experience. We live in Scotland (over 4 hours away) and chose this hotel based on their website write up on the hotel restaurant. The rooms are extremely expensive but having read the sample menu's we thought it was worth paying the high price as we were expecting a gourmet evening. Upon arrival, after a very confusing check-in together with a mix up of rooms (that's a whole other story) we were advised that the chef was self isolating and we would not be able to have a cooked breakfast also. Immediately this dampened our trip as the purpose was fine dining. We have travelled a long way just to have dinner but still had high hopes. Small menu choice with nothing inspiring and nothing at all portrayed on the sample menu online. There were 4 of us. The pork terrine starter (it was not a terrine, it was bland coarse pate) served with ONE small piece of toast and pickles. A side salad came with it which was an odd choice. The main meal of Lamb Shank oh dear. After one mouthful (all 4 of us chose this) we could not eat it. It was a prepared boil in the bag dish with mashed potatoes that also tasted processed with insipid vegetables. I felt literally sick. I have eaten better hospital food. The worst thing is this was the main purpose of our trip. I will NEVER stay here again. The family birthday was ruined and a lot of money spent. We all left very hungry and luckily we had some biscuits that we brought with us. Avoid dining here at all costs. The chefs should be ashamed of themselves.

I appreciate greatly your feedback and will certainly take on board all comments with regards to the hotel and level of service you received. I am saddened to read that you have not enjoyed your stay with us at The Inch Hotel, as a team, we always strive to ensure our guests have the best experience with us and ultimately a most enjoyable time. Unfortunately, for the safety of our guests and staff, our chef had to self-isolate after coming in contact with someone how tested positive for COVID-19 and even in these difficult times we endeavour to cater for our guests. Please accept my sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectations on this occasion and if you would like to return in the future please feel free to contact me directly. Kind regards, Johnny GM

We had a bad experience in Onich and had hoped this would not disappoint. It didn’t. It’s absolutely lovely, the rooms are well furnished, clean, spacious. A roaring fire in the lounge greeted us upon arrival, the manager was charming and helpful. Our room was very large and furnished with a magnificent antique wardrobe, a four poster bed, very, very comfortable, a seating area. We loved it. Evening g meal was delicious. The manager apologised beforehand that cooked breakfast was not available in the morning but reassured that the continental breakfast would be good. It was: fresh pastries, cold meats, fresh bread, the lot, fresh orange juice, good coffee - we loved it.

We stayed one night at the Inch Hotel along our 13-day road trip through Scotland. The hotel (more of a B&B feel) is perched upon a hill that overlooks a few highland cows, horses, and Loch Ness. Our room (Oich; #2) was on the “first floor” above the ground floor and was incredibly spacious. The bathroom was adequate and about standard; first place we found where the shower controls are independent from the tub. Service was friendly and location was only a 5min drive from Fort Augustus. Overall, a great place to stay for a night if visiting Loch Ness.

We returned to The Inch after enjoying our previous stay. Unfortunately we were left feeling disappointed. The hotel is in a great location but is looking rather tired, I felt like taking a vacuum cleaner and duster to the staircase which could be lovely. Our room was rather dark looking into the wood at the back of the hotel, but on asking if we could upgrade there was only a suite or family room available. Considering this meant the hotel was full, there was no one in the lounges after dinner which meant there was no atmosphere. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast but there did not seem to be enough staff for the number of guests in the hotel.

Booked the hotel Jan 21st 2021 for a one night stay on 21st June 2021. Booking was confirmed by hotel. I was called by the hotel 20th June to advise me they were over booked and my booking was cancelled. They had 5 MONTHS to advise me of status and yet they waited until I was enroute. They offered no help in booking any other hotel in the area. Overall shocking treatment from a poor management. Be very careful of your booking !

Dear Nigel C, Thank you very much for your feedback and for taking your time on a call with me just now. First of all, once again, please accept my sincere apologies for the poor communication, this is certainly not the level of standard that we are striving to provide. We were under the impression that the reservation has already been released by Booking.com and it only came to our attention on Saturday that it was still active. As discussed, we should have absolutely offered an alternative option that you were happy to accept, and I can only apologise that this has not happened. We have failed on this occasion to provide great customer service that we pride ourselves in and I sincerely hope we will have a chance in future to welcome you back at The Inch to prove it. Please contact me directly should you plan to come back to Scotland. Warm regards, Dorota

Here the staff are trying really hard to make a COVID stay as comfortable as possible without losing customer service that so many hotels seem to be adopting. Rooms are very comfortable, but a Loch view is worth paying for. Food is very good and a lot of of diners come from outside to enjoy the food and that must say something. The setting is wonderful and with great views over the southern end of Loch Ness. This was our second stay and we would definitely consider it again if we find ourselves in this part of the world.
