Loved being back at The Highland Club this Easter. Took canoes up this time and paddled along the canal. So great to be out all day and come home to this historic sanctuary. Nothing like a swim and sauna in the old chapel to relieve tired muscles.

From the first moment this place was outstanding, self catering apartments inside a converted monastery with a Hogwarts type vibe, the fittings are ultra high end with a most impressive games room and a wonderful swimming pool area with sauna and steam room adjacent. They offer room service if you don't want to cook for yourself in the superbly appointed kitchen as well as an onsite restaurant overlooking the Loch. There are also a few places in the small town of Fort Augustus a very short walk away. In the central atrium is a huge chess set though it was winter so we didn't take advantage. Inside the apartment were two very spacious bedrooms, one of which was en suite with a lovely living room and very modern and well equipped kitchen. The attention to detail was one of the best I've seen with pretty much everything catered for. If you fancied a round of tennis on the adjoining courts, there were some rackets and balls in the apartment. Pasta, rice, bread, milk, fudge, shortbread to name but a few of the things provided. In short great, overlooking Loch Ness we didn't see any sign of Nessie herself but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The Highland Club sits on the edge of Loch Ness with spectacular views down it.

The self catering apartment we stayed in was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. We found it very well equipped from large screen TV, wifi and printer to every kitchen utensil you could want. They even provided racquets and a generous welcome pack.

There are a number of facilities/activities on site so plenty to do without having to get in your car.

Right on the doorstep of The Highland Club is the village of Fort Augustus. It has retained its village charm and there’s usually some boating activity to watch on the locks that run through it. Just a pleasant place to wander around. Fort Augustus itself provides several places to eat (The Boathouse restaurant on the Highland Club site is very good too).

Strongly recommend the boat trip on the loch (which departs from just outside the Highland club).

We walked along the canal which was an easy, wide flat footpath. Hardly need to say it as it’s the highlands - but lovely scenery. We also walked up one of the mountains (part way); a little steeper but easy enough that young children were OK with it. Again good footpaths.

We took a short drive to Invermoriston Falls. Very pleasant and easy walk through the woods. If you go past the gift shop on your left and Glen Moriston Arms on your right, the Glen Rowan café is just 100 yards up the road. Very friendly, very helpful and will do take-aways or sit-in.

Really wished we had stayed for another week at least and will be back.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Highland Club in Abbey Church 3 and, once again, it has been an amazing holiday. As we were travelling with our 2 young children, we really appreciated how clean and well-equipped the flat was, and it was on the ground floor with great views of the bunnies and ducks. The kitchen had absolutely everything we could possibly need for cooking meals, baking, and cleaning up, and even had plastic plates, bowls, cutlery, etc for the kids. They also provided a crib for our youngest, complete with bedding. Next time we must remember not to bring all this stuff! There was also a very generous welcome basket full of tasty goodies and lovely activity packs for the kids. Our flat also had a big basket of sports equipment with a football, tennis and badminton rackets which was useful. During our stay we also made use of the swimming pool, tennis courts, kids playground, the Club Lounge, and the big barbecues.

Overall, it's just such an amazing place to visit. It's a beautiful building, with stunning grounds and views of the loch, and so many things to do. We all have beautiful memories of our stay there and can't wait til we go back again!

The Highland Club is a historic abbey located on the shore of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus. My wife and I booked two nights in the midst of a two week driving tour of Ireland and Scotland. Apartment AC-17 is a nicely furnished and spacious one bedroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchen including a combination washer/dryer. It served as a great base for us as we explored the area. Our apartment did not offer a view of Loch Ness and access involved climbing some stairs, but these were not significant detractors for us. Although the apartments are self-catering, we were provided with a very nice "welcome" package of treats and a bottle of wine. Staff member Ashley met us upon arrival, gave us a tour of the amenities and arranged for help getting our bags to the apartment. Overall, an excellent stay.

It was our first time visiting the highland club & it definitely won’t be our last. The staff were very friendly & were always happy to help. There was a coffee machine onsite & free for guests which was a lovely addition meaning we didn’t have to walk into town to find a nice cup of coffee. The property itself is very beautiful & in a really good location as the local shops/pubs are within walking distance. There is so much to do & it’s lovely being so close to nature with ducks & rabbits on the grounds. We stayed in Abbey Church 16 with our two children & couldn’t believe how big the apartment was. When we arrived, there was a book & teddy bear waiting for both of our children & there was even some child farm body wash in the bathroom which I thought was a lovely touch. The welcome hamper was a lovely gesture & I was amazed by how well equipped the kitchen was. We had dinner at the boathouse & really enjoyed our meal there so highly recommend booking when you arrive (it can get busy).

I would highly recommend the Highland Club & will definitely be returning for another visit next year.

The most amazing stay at The Highland club.

We stayed at the lovely Abbey Church 16 apartment. The accommodation was gorgeous with ample room with home comforts and even a welcome pack including cereals, Scottish treats & a bottle of wine.

The apartment had a view of the loch from both bedrooms, which was incredible! The setting was so quiet and peaceful and it was the perfect place to stay for a restful break.

The pool, sauna and steam room facilities were wonderful too - which were easy to book via the app and slippers, robes and towels were provided to use the spa facilities.

Every detail had been thought of in the apartment to make our stay so special! The view of the loch from our rooms was breathtaking and The Highland Club grounds were wonderful to walk around and explore and the Billiards Room was a fab place to spend an evening!

Fort Augustus is a great location for walks and we had a great fish and chips at the Loch Inn Pub & a wonderful tasting menu at The Lovat Arms.

Can’t wait to come back and visit The Highland Club again!

Our family trip to the Highland Club this summer was fantastic! We stayed in the Abbey Church 11 apartment, which was scrupulously clean and furnished to a really high standard. A real home away from home! It provided a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with everything you could possibly need, from dressing gowns, slippers, toiletries to all the kitchen condiments and gadgets you could desire. We also had a generous complimentary welcome hamper waiting for us which contained lots of tasty treats & even a bottle of wine! The children also had welcome bags containing toys & books. The attention to detail is really commendable. This was our second visit to the Highland Club. We had previously stayed in Abbey Church 15, three years ago, which was equally impressive.
The views of Loch Ness were breath-taking from our apartment. Our Highland Club apartment gave us an amazing base when we wanted to go for walks around the hills or the loch, or pay a visit to the nearby village. Would also recommend the restaurant onsite called the Boathouse. Clean, great service & tasty meals.
We had a go at some of the fun activities within the site too; we went to the swimming pool, played some tennis on the courts, relaxed in the club lounge and made use of the outdoor barbecues when the weather was nice.
I’d truly recommend a stay at the Highland Club!

Had another wonderful week long stay at the Highland Club. Even though it’s not the first time we’ve stayed here as a family, the building and its location on the foot of Loch Ness never fails to take your breath away. We stayed in AC10 this time and the apartment was spacious and very comfortable - with everything that we needed for our stay. You can tell that the owners have thought very carefully about the items provided in the apartment e.g. the basket in the hallway with a cricket set, tennis and badminton racquets etc. so that we were able to make best use of the facilities on site - that attention to detail carries through to the staff and the way that they went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. I’ll be back again later this year!

Great place to stay and enjoy with the family. Superb location and easy to get around. Facilities are excellent and can easily spend the day on site in case you don’t wish to tour or the weather gets bad. Easy access to Loch Ness cruise and choice of pubs and restaurants by the canal. Not cheap but worth the price; great rooms!
