Detailed Reviews
The building is a series of apartments each with its own individual style and facility so its difficult to provide a definitive review. We stayed in apartment 14 Frazier, this was a change from our original booking due to a double booking issue. However, this was all sorted out quickly. The apartment is a large two-bedroom apartment overlooking the loch. The building is large and full of character and under normal circumstances has a pool and other central facilities. the location is spot on, within short walking distance of the town which has a number of pubs, chip shops, and a small shop selling essentials. Overall a great stay and would go again. However, I have a couple of suggestions that would improve the overall experience.
For the apartment:
1) The apartment is well furnished and of a great size however, the TV's are small and dated with limited channel choice (5 main channels only). Not a big issue but replacing these with modern sets and Freeview would be an improvement.
2) The pillows are cheap flat foam-based that had seem better days, when you are staying in a premium accommodation you would expect feather based / better quality pillows again small things.
3) The washing machine has a fault think its related to the door. Again for a short stay not a problem as you wouldn't use it. We didn't report it as didn't really have the time and it didn't cause us any problems.
For the overall hotel.
1) Electric charging points for cars would be a great features. I didn't need one during this trip but I'm due to take delivery of an electric car this month. the lack of charging points would have impacted my decision to stay here in the future.

This is one of the most unique accommodations we've ever experienced. The well-appointed fully equipped apartments are built into an old Victorian gothic edifice at the heart of a sprawling property of greens and forests that pour into hauntingly lovely Loch Ness. The building used to be a monastery, then a boys' school, so there are definitely Hogwarts vibes for anyone with such a penchant. There is a beautiful cloister framed with colonnades and arched windows that has at its center a life-sized chess board. There is a dark wood lounge with a vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows and crimson trim where guests can relax and play board games. Another vast hall has a ping-pong table, then there's the pool complex which is in the old chapel with a fine view of pine trees and hills. Croquet and cricket sets are available to use on the green, and we even found tennis rackets and balls in our apartment to use on the tennis court. A football too, for use on the football pitch. I wouldn't have been surprised to find quidditch gear in one of the closets. Slots for most of those activities have to be booked, but there didn't seem to be too much competition for the minimally organized. There are a number of gorgeous walks starting in and around the property, and the quaint little hamlet cum tourist trap town of Ft. Augustus is right next door. Ducks and bunnies flutter and scamper everywhere.
Our apartment was impressively spacious, with two bathrooms including a tub. The kitchen had everything we needed, with a gift bottle of wine and a small jug of milk waiting for us in the fridge which was much appreciated. Ample free parking is available to guests.
The only negative in an overall wonderful stay was on arrival. The property is divided into several sections each managed by a different agency/owner, with no reception of any kind. We parked in the main lot and tried a couple of doors that were locked before stopping a gentleman in a uniform who seemed to work there and asking where to go. It was lucky we found him because he knew to call Elena on his cell phone and let her know we had arrived. She had apparently sent us her contact information through the Booking.com app, but it didn't get through. We had to drag our suitcases up a flight of stairs, but quickly forgot these minor inconveniences.
The Highland Club is rather pricey, but we think it's definitely worth the splurge, especially for young families.

We were lucky to stay at the Top of the Fort apartment at the Highland Club during the heatwave last week. It was never below 25C all week and we certainly made the most of the glorious weather.
After a slightly shaky start when it took us a while to get hold of a member of staff when we first arrived, we were very pleased with the location and space at the apartment. The outdoor terrace looking down onto the garden, monks' graveyard and Loch Ness is a highlight although the decking boards really need replaced.
The apartment itself is very spacious with good sized bedrooms/bathrooms and very amenity you could need.
However, the apartment is feeling dated and a lot of things were broken when we arrived - outdoor furniture, door handles, chairs, cracked ornaments, etc. It could do with a significant cash injection to get it back up to standard.
There was a bottle of wine and some shortbread waiting for us, although compared to the picture of the welcome pack from The Highland Club apartments, this was a bit disappointing!
We enjoyed staying in Fort Augustus and ate out at the Boatside Restaurant and the Lock Inn which were both good. Day trips to Aviemore, Fort William, Glenfinnan Viaduct and Mallaig were well worth the journeys.
I would recommend this resort again but would probably try a different apartment, unless this one was updated.

This is our fourth visit but we have stayed in different properties each time and never been disappointed. This time we stayed in The Ross which is in the Moat House, a two bed, two bathroom apartment over two floors. The place was very clean, quality bedding and towels and nice and cosy. Unfortunately the facilities were not open due to Covid but we knew that before we arrived. The Highland Club is right in the centre of Fort Augustus which has all the amenities you need, we ate at the Boathouse, Lock Inn and take away fish and chips in Fort Augustus. Lots of walking on the doorstep from short walks along the canal, forest trails and more challenging walking. We did a lovely bike ride along the canal, along Loch Oich down to Laggan locks, 22 miles return (majority of it flat 😁). Lovely views of Loch Ness from the grounds. I’m sure we’ll be back in a few years, the place has a magical quality that helps you relax, especially in these challenging times.

The building is impressive, internally and externally, and the concept seems creative, making positive use fo the architecture, but it still feels a little of a work in progress. Parking is available but there is no lift to access the upper floors. The facilities are modern and the apartment was well furnished and fully equipped, in line with the expectations one might have. Plenty of towels provided including some for swimming and bathrobe/slippers.
The complementary food basket was outstanding although some fresh local produce would have been welcome. The apartment was spotlessly clean and warm, although we couldn’t work out how to ventilate it properly.
We enjoyed using the pool complex (which has to be booked) although the size is relatively small and could use more reclined seating. Be aware that there are steps to access the pool level. We did not use the club room as it was rather dark and felt claustrophobic. Maybe it would benefit from self service tea/coffee bar to boost its use as a communal social space. Otherwise we barely saw or heard other guests.
Well located for exploring Loch Ness and the Great Glen and some stunning views. Be aware there are limited grocery stores nearby which can run out of the basics. It might be helpful if the site office carried a small range to buy. Easy walk to a variety of local restaurants and the boat docks.

This was my first trip to Fort Augustus and the Highland Club. It’s an experience that really did overdeliver in terms of my expectations.
Firstly when we arrived in Fort Augustus we felt the laid back and relaxed atmosphere that instantly helped us switch off from our everyday life we had left behind for a the four days we were staying.
Then as we drove through the gates of the Highland Club our breath was taken away. The building is spectacular in itself but the view of Loch Ness and the grounds are beautiful and that little bit more. Think stain glassed windows, stone archways, large medieval doors and a calming atmosphere and you will get a gist of what it offers.
Very much a place where you can sit for hours and relax or take advantage of one of the many walking trails that will unwrap so many beautiful views.
As a complete package it’s an experience that will stay with you even after you leave. The accommodation we had could not be faulted. We stayed in Abbey Church 11 and a beautiful view out of the main bedroom and lounge of the Loch Ness and the gardens.
As a self catering apartment they had catered to everything you could need from a well thought through welcome basket with lots of lovely treats and bottle of very nice Pecorino white wine. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils you would need to cook a meal if you chose to do while staying here. The apartment was tastefully decorated and to a very high standard with all your comfort taken into consideration. Very much home away from home and very spacious.
Onsite they have a pool, steam room and sauna onsite that you can book to use which is a treat after a full day of walking which was the case for us.
They have a snooker room that accommodates a full size snooker table and a very inviting seating area with games you can indulge in or simply sit and read a book. The stained glass windows are beautiful and very atmospheric.
Onsite they have a lovely restaurant called The Boathouse where you can eat and it has a spectacular view of the loch and a good selection of dishes that you can indulge in.
Overall, I would highly recommend it as place to stay, relax and leave the world behind. I am looking to return and this time for longer.

This abbey nicely converted into and appartements complex is a perfect and stunning place for a family holiday. Quite well situated at the heart of the highlands, the resort offers many activities on site: swimming pool, gym, ping-pong, tennis, football, chests… The apartments are very nicely built inside the old religious structure, they are clean and equipped with everything you need. Nice welcome by a very efficient staff. All good!

A wonderful stay - the location is ideal; views and direct access to the loch on the edge of the gardens, plus a private gate to the centre of the village. Plenty of parking on-site. The accommodation is stunning, as are the grounds which looked beautiful in their autumn colours. Felt very safe with the covid measures.

The accommodation is lovely it can’t be faulted. However with the number of rooms on this site there really ought to be some type of security personnel on site in case you get lost or lose something, which I did, and I couldn’t get any help at all at night. I was simply told to ‘go back in the morning’ for help. To be honest that’s not good enough.

This really is a fabulous place to stay in a great location.
The accommodation is extremely comfortable and well appointed. We stayed in The Wulstan (AC12) which was great for two (or 2+1 utilising the sofa bed in the snug).
There’s lots of recreational things to do at the club and the village centre is a few minutes’ walk away.
Highly recommended.

Apologies for the late response. I only just came across this now.
Check in is 4pm til 8pm (late check ins are by arrangement and a small fee is possible, check out is by 10am.
Hope that helps.

If you are touring the highlands you will want a car. Too much gorgeous scenery to miss out on if you only stay in one spot.
We were there with a tour group for three nights. There was no charge but you need to sign up for a time slot to use the pool. You also must shower prior as they say that they try to keep from over chlorination.
