My husband and I stayed in the Lovatt room in the abbey our apartment was perfect you could tell that money had been spent on the furnishings it had everything you would need our bed was super comfy you could also get on to the balcony through the bedroom, the abbey has lovely grounds with Loch Ness right on the doorstep with tennis courts and a small play area. Our only disappointment was that the pool and restaurant are both still closed. It is just a sort walk in to fort Augustus which has a selection of places to eat. If I was ever in the area again I would definitely pick the highland club for our stay

We stayed here for 3 days as a family, some facilities unavailable due to easing of Lockdown so we couldn’t use the pool etc. But the apartment was very well equipped, and the bath, shower etc were welcomed after a long hike in Glencoe, comfortable beds. The children made full use of the outdoor space, tennis court, low ropes, space for skating .The building is spectacular and the dinner at the Boathouse which feels like you’re on the water was also superb.

Thank you to Clare for the amazing service. The apartment was so clean and cosy. The beds were super comfy and the shower was amazing. We appreciated all the little things left in the kitchen for us too. I can't wait to come back it was the best.

Very beautiful in photos, disappointing in real life, here is a place that needs a major refresh and a huge cleaning
It's a bit of a waste, because the places are magnificent
Please note, all rented apartments are different and differently maintained by their owner.
For example ours (old school 5) was large and well decorated but frankly dirty: stains all over the carpet and on the walls
The gym is tiny, dirty and without ventilation
For the swimming pool especially and the rest of the facilities, be careful, you must book on the site otherwise it will be impossible to go there

A great, central location for exploring the Scottish Highlands. The accommodation is very comfy, BUT, if you have booked Apartment 14, you will have 72 steps.....to climb up and down each time you go out, as well as 72 stairs to carry your luggage up and down. The photo supplied shows the first flight, but not the remaining 3 double flights. It would not be possible for anyone with a disability, or with a heart condition.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Aonach Mor Luxury Holiday Accommodation in August of 2011 and we were stunned by not only the stunning idyllic surroundings of Loch Ness and the quaint Fort Augustus but the accommodation itself. We chose to rent the Tower Apartment which is very different to the other apartments within Aonach Mor, judging by the images we have seen on the website.
While we stayed at Aonach Mor we, as always, noted the good/bad points of our stay and we have to say the good very much outweighed the bad. In fact, the bad points are not that bad and in all honesty could be sorted in 30mins. In our opinion these are: lack of towels, there was only one hand towel and bath towel each provided, the extra couple of towels each would have been most useful (although there is of course a washing machine) but having to wash the towels regularly could have been avoided; the gas cooker (we just don't like gas); the very low fan above the cooker, which I banged my head on no less than about 20 times; no drip dry rack for dishes at the sink; no mirror in any room but the bathroom (which for my gf's straightners was no use! didn't bother me... Also there is the (unavoidable) issue of the steps, not only to get to the tower apartment, but within the apartment there is many steps to get to the kitchen/living area and also the bedroom/bathroom on the next level. This was no major problem to us being very fit but to those not so fit it would be an issue.
As mentioned the good points more than outweigh the (not so important) bad points. In our opinion the good points are: The accommodation being very central and close walking distance to everything you would want to do; huge amount of free parking within the grounds; the cleanliness was fantastic and decor/design of the apartment was very well done; the staff couldn't have been more polite and attentive, in prep for our stay we requested allergy sensitive bedding which was provided for us; the amenities within and surrounding the grounds were great, including giant chess, boardgames, snooker, tennis court, free Wi-fi in the lounge area, unfortunately the swimming pool was not yet complete when we stayed... but next time! The Harry Potter style hallways and architecture is very unique to Aonach Mor; within the apartment there was freeview and dvd players in the living room and bedroom with many free films available to watch. Upon our arrival there were complimentary cookies and milk to get us started, as well as everything you could need, for eg, cooking utensils, also condiments, pots and pans, etc.
The accommodation is situated at the very end of Loch Ness, simply the best thing about the apartment is the views, they were simply breathtaking. Being the highest of all apartments it is (I think) the only apartment that looks above the surrounding trees which gives you a very clear outlook right up the length of Loch Ness.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing, romantic, stress-free, stay in a stunning part of Scotland. I have attached a few images of the surroundings of Aonach Mor, apologies for the lack of photos of the interior, being a photographer I usually focus on the surrounding area I stay rather than where I lay my head.
p.s. Also a must to do is the Royal Scot cruise on Loch Ness... great views of not only Loch Ness but the Aonach Mor architecture and surroundings.

We stayed in The Old Armoury, a beautiful spacious apartment. The Abbey and its grounds are stunning, and the Abbey's position right on Loch Ness provides a perfect backdrop. The apartment itself was fantastic, and after racking my brains trying to find a bad point, the only thing I could think of is the tiny tiny problem that that there were no mirrors in the bedrooms for hairdrying / straightening. (I put this on my comments form when I left, and the owners have said that they are going to put mirrors in, so there really isn't any problem that I can think of!!!!!!)
Overall, fantastic accomodation and surroundings, we'll definately be back.

We stayed as a family of four, plus dog, in Skye Cottage 7. The cottage itself was lovely, very spacious and very well equipped with everything you need. Teenage kids were very impressed by the wi-fi speed too!!:)
Everyone at Aonach Mor we dealt with were excellent, lots of info before and after booking and welcomed on arrival and given a tour of the facilities and accommodation.
Facilities wise the pool is small but beautifully done, and the booking system keeps numbers down. Great for a wee dip with the kids. Also played tennis (rackets provided in the cottage), didn’t use the snooker room/ lounge in the main building as the cottage was so comfy but looked very nice.
Fort Augustus has a good selection of pubs/ restaurants which all seem to be family friendly and most dog friendly too.
Great stay, would definitely love to make a return visit.

We had a week over Easter as a family of 5. This is a top floor apartment so lots of stairs to climb ... but it's worth it. A really lovely, spacious, well equiped "home from home". Views over Loch Ness from main bedroom, Living room and especially good view from main bathroom window. We had beautiful weather all week but cold - however apartment nice and warm. Our 3 boys loved it as a big TV, DVD, and WIFI in apartment. Pool area very nice but was busy and you need to book in order to get an hour a day. Small gym but had enough to do a cardio and weights workout. Location is great as Fort Augustus has good facilities, is pretty, interesting due to the boats of all sizes passing through the canal. A great fish and chip shop and a few pubs and places to get coffee. Loved driving as the roads are amazing and very little on them - we did Skye one day in 1 hour. You have to visit Skye - amazing and the road there is stunning. Take the little ferry over and the bridge back. One of the best 1 week holidays we've had as a family.

I encourage you to read my review under Highland Club Direct, which is the same lodging as Aonach Mor. Adding to what I had written earlier, I would strongly advise anyone inquiring about a reservation to speak directly to one of the staff and ask all pertinent questions. For starters......is the pool and fitness center open?
