Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Sango Sands Oasis has been lauded for its spacious showers within its rooms, offering a degree of privacy that is especially valued by guests. The hotel's location is celebrated for its breathtaking views, beach proximity, and easy access to local attractions like Smoo Cave, although the charm is somewhat tempered by dated amenities. While the hotel's value is generally appreciated, thanks to its stunning vistas and reasonable pricing, not all guests are completely satisfied. The service is often highlighted for its warm and efficient staff, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Cleanliness is another strong point, particularly in the showers and toilets, but there is feedback suggesting that both could use modernization and additional amenities. The amenities provided are a point of contention; guests love the scenic location and beach access, but some feel that improvements are needed in areas like the restaurant and shower facilities.

Booked via email quite a way in advance, the site doesn't take payment though and will only hold your pitch until 5pm. They have some pitches that aren't bookable & are first come, first served. We arrived around lunch time and even though they had only opened check in at 11am the site was already full so definitely recommend booking! The site overlooks a glorious, sandy bay. It really is picture perfect. Showers and toilets clean and basic. We used the laundry to wash and dry clothes, an absolute bargain as you only need 2 x £1 for the larger washer and same for dryer. Friendly staff, site very well kept. We walked to smoo cave and to balnakeil bay. Our favorite place though was a little stop called Farr Bay on the road in from John O'Groats. The sango sands oasis bar is at side of site and you can order from their menu via phone and then collect, the food was good. This was definitely one of our favorite stops on NC500.

We arrived out of season and we’re able to book but luckily for us there are some spaces and I think we arrived on the windiest day in the last 10 years. We found it quite difficult to find a suitable spot to camp and we did find somewhere it was too windy to put our bongo roof up. Excellent restaurant just offsite where we were able to order takeaway food which was top quality. The toilet shower and washing facilities were excellent I think there was six showers in total. Woke up in the morning to a beautiful day excellent scenery from where we were park looking down onto two beaches really good for while swimming and we enjoyed our swim immensely. Pricing was okay at the campsite I think we paid £36 for the bongo and four adults which we don’t think was too bad. A local spa just up the road shop down the road and also petrol station made it a useful stock for us to stock up get some breakfast and set off on our journey. We would certainly recommend this site in season make sure you book well in advance and out of season don’t arrive too late because they’ll be no spaces.

I cycled to Durness from Ullapool. It rained and rained and I was so cold. Ordered takeaway jacket potato and sticky toffee pudding from here it was so warm and delicious and so convenient and well organised. Thanks so much you warned me up ready for the next day of cycling!!

Called the day before to check about arrivals as they wouldn’t let us pre-book a tent pitch earlier like everywhere else would… they advised us on the phone call that providing we arrive before 5pm they would guarantee us a pitch.

We arrived at 4.30pm and were told they were full. Despite it only looking about 40% full.

We subsequently wild camped round the corner and even early the next morning it was still only 40% full. I asked if I could pay to use their shower facilities the next day but was told no- seems silly to turn away cash for 20 mins use of their shower block.

Found them wholly unaccommodating, and it seemed unjustifiably so.

Good campsite in a stunning cliff top location, the views are just incredible. The campsite is Covid safe and the staff clearly work hard to manage a very busy site in these challenging times. Lovely clean loos, showers & washing sinks with plenty sprays etc for everyone to do their bit. The restaurant was only able to offer takeaway but this was easy to order, good value and food was super tasty. Lots to do around this beautiful coastline, will definitely be coming back and wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this lovely site again.

Great location over looking the beach. Pub and restaurant were closed due to visiting out of season however could order take away food.

Can be quite windy and cold, so pack lots of layers.

Spar and petrol pump in walking distance, facilities all very clean. Lots of water taps on site, would visit again during the summer months.

This campsite is incredible. We booked our campervan inn May 2021 for an August 2021 NC500 trip, unfortunately this campsite was fully booked (very popular). We chanced it by arriving for 14:00. Unfortunately no elec hook ups, we parked on the non-elec pitch and I went back to the desk to see if there were any cancellations for electric, the staff were kind and accommodating noting that if there was any no shows I could go on a cancellation list (I was 3rd on this list)... I went back about 5pm (cut off for bookings to arrive) and amazingly, there was a no show, we kindly transferred to an electric pitch that was overlooking the beach. Absolutely stunning views, the showers were fantastic and hot water was plentiful, little room for changing as all single cubicles but this was literally the hottest shower on the whole NC500 route that we did... I would 1000% come back to this site. There is a spar shop near by that is well stocked and a takeaway, not outstanding food but adequate/nice if you want a night off from cooking

Absolutely beautiful wee place would definitely recommend going to have a look! The woman in reception at the caravan park was less than accommodating.. when we arrived there was no space for us.. fair enough we should have booked in.. we found a wee place 10 minutes up the road to stay which was just as beautiful. Went back in the morning to use the waste disposal (which most other parks allow for a fee) but were told no not till after all the guests have left can’t understand what harm we would have been causing quickly emptying our waste!

My boyfriend and I had been touring Scotland for weeks and enquired about paying to use the shower facilities at this campsite. Staff said no, you have to pay for a full nights pitch. Rip-off!

At our wild camp spot we boiled hot water, added some shower gel and had a 'tent bath' instead!

We stayed here whilst travelling the North Coast 500 route. Amazing views, our pitch faced on to the bay, we managed to capture some amazing photos. Great facilities, bar was good, we also used the takeaway for dinner, food was amazing. Toilet block was clean and plenty of showers and toilets available for use. We had breakfast from the breakfast bar, bit pricey and everything was fried (wouldn’t recommend). Smoo Cave is close by, well worth a visit. By far, the best site we stayed on during our trip, with the best views.
