Wyndham Duchally Country Estate is celebrated by visitors for its comfortable lodges, complete with appreciated amenities such as a pool and spa, though the maintenance of these facilities sometimes falls short. The hotel's cleanliness and helpful staff earn plaudits, but attention can wane when the estate is at its busiest.
While the rooms are spacious, calls for updates are common. The estate's location is a highlight, positioning guests conveniently for Scottish explorations, yet opinions on the value proposition vary, with some guests questioning the balance between cost and quality.

Structure immersed in a beautiful forest, typical Scottish cottages with every comfort, spa included and perfectly maintained, we found a very affordable rate so also good value for money. In villages 10 minutes away we found beautiful and typical pubs. Be careful to drive slowly on the access road, there are rabbits, pheasants and animals!

So this is a very accessible location, just 4 hours or so from my home in Yorkshire, very clean, all we expected to be present was present (returning guests). Nice and warm, comfortable. Would have liked to be able to take the dog into the bar, but can't have everything. All told a nice quiet comfortable base for tootling about :-)

None of us had heard of this estate before, and we couldn't find much information about it, even it's own website is quite reticent about what to expect. We've just returned from a very short break and intend to return. Our lodge was fabulous, big and roomy, 6 people had plenty of room to spread out. An upside down house, the roomy bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs were comfortable with lots and lots of storage. Both bathrooms had bath and shower, separate in the ensuite. We couldn't find out if towels were provided, but yes, lots of big bath towels. Upstairs was open plan, bright fully-equipped kitchen, big dining table, really comfy settee and sofa-bed. French windows led onto a balcony with table and chairs, which felt as if it was in the canopy of the woodland at the edge of the estate, perfect for watching the red squirrels. All the staff were friendly , particularly in the leisure centre, inviting us to help ourselves to towels, showing us around. Swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, steam room, etc, all included in the lodge price. We could also order fresh, warm croissants from the leisure centre, a real guilty pleasure. We also used the games room in the main hotel to play pool and air hockey, great fun for the children of all ages. There is also a well-stocked bar, their own Gatehouse gin was very nice. We didn't have time to try the restaurant, next time, hopefully. We were amazed how quiet it was, even though there must have been lots of families staying. The whole estate is beautifully landscaped and maintained, with streams, a duckpond, nature trail and barbecue area in the woods. Nestling close to the Ochil Hills, we were 25 minutes from Blair Drummond Safari park, and 30 minutes beautiful drive via Glendevon to relatives in Clackmannanshire. We felt completely at home and comfortable and enjoyed every moment of our stay, would have happily stayed longer. We felt that for 6 people it was excellent value, especially as we could use the pool whenever we liked with no need to book.

The estate is close to Gleneagles and offers a pleasant location not too far from many worthwhile places to visit.
On the plus side the staff were generally helpful, friendly and attentive. The bar and restaurant are well laid out with a good selection of food and drinks to suit most tastes including some child-friendly options on the menu.
Parking is plentiful and the ease of access to and from the A9 as well as local backroads allows for easy access and sorting out your routes.
The spa and pool is not huge so during busy periods you may be either asked to wait in the cafe area until the pool becomes less congested. Inflatables are partially to blame but these are then removed from midday for a while to discourage kids from totally overwhelming the place.
Aside from the pool itself there is a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The sauna and steam room are very hot, just keep an eye on your time inside so you don’t overlook yourself.
The three bedroom lodges are quite spacious, clean and tidy with a small but well provisioned kitchen area, seating for at eight at both a dining table and lounge areas. Three double bedrooms will easily sleep six, more often than not one of the rooms has two single beds in it. To sleep the maximum of eight people in one of these lodges a sofa bed is available in the lounge area however, it is not the most comfortable on which to sleep.
On the downside, whilst the lodges themselves are quite tidy and well maintained in most aspects there is one significant flaw that showed itself every single day. Whilst the electric heating is sufficient to keep the rooms nice and warm there is only a single hot water tank heated by two immersion heater elements. as all three bathrooms have power showers in them it is exceptionally easy to drain the entire hot water tank with three average length showers meaning that for a full chalet everybody will not be able to have a shower or bath in the morning. This was not made clear in any of the literature and even worse, every single day all of the immersion heaters in our lodge needed to be reset by the maintenance man because they simply could not generate enough hot water and kept tripping out.
We reported the issue of the hot water to the hotel management, their approach was not particularly helpful in that they suggested we could move to another lodge and have showers in there as well as one extra hour for checkout on the last day but at least they made some sort of amend by offering some free sparkling wine by way of an apology.

Just returned from a week in one of the lodges. Lodge was very clean and comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. The grounds are well maintained and we enjoyed walking round the estate
Only down side was on our arrival the lodge was extremely cold, 4 degrees! Would have been nice to have had the heating turned on a low setting just to take the chill off. We sat in coats all evening. the lodge came up to a comfortable temperature by mid day the following day

The lodges are a little tired but clean and spacious. TVs in all the bedrooms and plenty of toilet roll shampoos etc provided. The kitchen is very well equipped and you also get left a loaf of bread, jams, tea/coffee, milk, sugar, salt and pepper, dishwasher tabs, washing machine tabs, bin bags, cloth, tea towels. There’s an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, fridge freezer, kettle, coffee machine (filtered), washing machine and dishwasher plus an iron and ironing board. There’s a big coop 2 miles away in the village nearby for getting your supplies. There’s also a few takeaways that deliver (Fortune Inn Chinese was excellent). You can park outside your lodge. The leisure centre onsite is good for lunch and the bar in the hotel serves a nice lunch. Dinner was nice also in the hotel. Staff are all lovely. The hotel has a toddler play room and a teenage games room with pool, air hockey and a couple of arcade games. There was plenty of areas for kids to play with balls etc and it seems perfect for kids to take bikes. In the school holidays they have extra activities. Saw red squirrels and pheasants outside lodge which was nice and there are squirrel feeders on the trees. Even though the place was fully booked it really didn’t feel busy which was great. All in all I feel it was value for money and all the staff were so welcoming, we all had a lovely relaxing time, would come again for sure.

We were a group of 15 (3 kids) and stayed in 3 lodges over the new year. The lodges were fine although there are no curtains in the bedrooms so the bedrooms weren’t that dark. The lodges are spacious enough. The leisure centre facilities are fine. The gym is small so only about 3 people can be in it at once. The pool is nice but there is a max of 31 people and you cannot book splash hour for children. So every time we went the pool was full. There is also no time limit on how long people can stay in which doesn’t seem very practical when people are waiting to get in. For busy times there should either be a booking system or a 1 hour time limit. It was very disappointing that everything in the games room costs money, there should be some free activities considering you are paying to stay at the resort. Lastly, we had 3 £10 off vouchers which we forgot to bring to dinner. Our bill came to just under £600. When we went back for a drink the next day we asked if we could use the vouchers for the drinks considering we had spent so much on food last night and were told no. The place is in a nice setting but I wouldn’t go back and I think the customer service and facilities could be improved.

Just back from a lovely weeks stay in one of the lodges. Accommodation was lovely and warm through out our stay. The staff were excellent throughout. Any requests we made were responded to immediately an example being a slip mat for the bath. To have a gin distillery on site was a lovely bonus and we can not praise Carl enough for a tasting he did for us. The grounds had suffered some damage due to a recent storm but clear up work was well under way.

Our lodge had a good level of decor but fittings and appliances are dated, the hotel and estate is on the market so I guess current owners do not want to invest.
Very comfortable stay and very clean lodge, excellent shower and bathroom. Self catering welcome pack of bread, butter tea bags, milk and enough dishwasher tablets and cloths washing tablets for the stay. Eggs and paper kitchen roll used to be included last time i stayed (before Wyndham took over the management).

Yes. When we stayed there they had more than enough towels in the leisure centre. You take them and go into the changing rooms. After using them, you leave them for washing. Simple.
