Moness Resort has earned commendations for its friendly and responsive service, with many guests highlighting the staff's helpfulness. The resort's picturesque setting near Aberfeldy is well-received, though some travelers suggest the town itself could be spruced up. While the rooms are generally found to be spacious and well-equipped, a number of guests have called for refurbishments and raised concerns about cleanliness. The amenities are satisfactory to most, with leisure facilities getting a positive nod. Opinions on value are mixed, with some dissatisfaction over additional costs and the lack of complimentary upgrades.

The self catering cottage was spotless but urgently needs updating very old fashioned and paintwork need refreshed .TV had good reception The pool was excellent but could be doing with a larger pool as only 18 allowed in at one time especially as they have 70 or more cottages and hotel rooms ,no spa facilities available for a long time. We didnt have the restaurant breakfasts but went for dinner on last night and it was not nice we had risotto and it was lumpy and stuck together as if it had been reheated.Need a better chef .Asked Bar staff for Non alcholic Gin thought there was none left so I ordered fresh orange and lemonade received orange squash and lemonade in a pint glass??? Staff seriously need trained. The grounds are well kept and is in a lovely location we had lovely weather for three days and Aberfeldy is pleasant and plenty walks to do however the high street is seriously run down with lots of shop and restaurant closures.

Having emailed the hotel and given them a chance to respond unfortunately having not received one yet posting my feedback here.

I would just like to feedback on a recent stay with you. When we arrived to check in, we were told that breakfast started at 8.30am as it was Sunday. We informed the reception we would be checking out between 8am and 8.15am due to one of my friends who was staying running a marathon that day nearby. She said the hotel didn’t know there was an event otherwise they would have organised an early breakfast. No problem with this.

In the morning when checking out (at 8.10am) I asked if there was anywhere, I could grab a coffee before leaving and was told to try the breakfast room. Low and behold there were people in there having breakfast. I asked behind the bar and he said they had requested early breakfast due to the marathon. This was not offered or even suggested when we checked, and I mentioned we also had that commitment. The man behind the bar did apologise and made me a coffee which I then had to pay for? I wrongly assumed this may have been free as breakfast had been started for those people there. This was all quite frustrating as I effectively paid for 4 breakfasts and didn't get to utilise them as our timings didn't work but we were not offered the same experience as other guests.

Unfortunately, we also encountered dirty linen on our beds in both rooms.

Booked 2 night for half term with family. We had a 2 bedroom cottage with hot tub (79) was spotlessly clean and recently refurbished. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was brilliant. Showers werent the best though.
Kitchen had dishwasher tablets, washing liquid, sponges and tea towels.
We also got a little welcome of scones with jam which was a lovely touch.
We ate in the flemmyns restaurant the first night. The food was excellent although a bit pricey.
We enjoyed the swimming pool and bored games in the lounge area.
Pool table needs new cues.
All the staff were great and very friendly the only thing that let us down I was advised on two separate occasions there would be kids activities during our stay but this wasn't the case.
Overall we had a brilliant time and would visit again.
Don't let the negative reviews put you off.

6 hour power cut Saturday evening and because moness is apparently a “cashless resort” although nothing online mentions this and the power cut started at teatime it left the guests unable to buy even a cold drink in 26 degree heat, we were mid way threw a meal in restaurant when power cut happened and got asked to leave before we had finished and informed because they are a cashless resort the bill would get taken off our bank account tomorrow when till is up and running again and when I asked for total of bill to check correct amount comes off I got told because it’s all done on till they couldn’t give me a total for bill. The local villages were also cut off so all local shops etc closed. Another guest asked at reception if kitchen could make her children some sandwiches as they needed tea and were planning to eat in resort and shops were all closed but she was told because it’s a cashless resort they couldn’t accommodate by making sandwiches for the children! I had my elderly mum with us who has mobility and sight problems and at 7pm asked for candles incase elec still wasn’t back on during night and a while later member of staff came to our accomodation with 3 tea lights which were already lit even though I requested candles and matches for later in night use and these would be out before it got dark! When I asked at reception re compensation as everything has been closed since 5pm till morning. No electric in cottages. No cooking facilities. No elec shower and the fact we got asked to leave restaurant before finished our meal even though it was still daylight and yet will still be charged but was told no compensation would be offered to guests as “it wasn’t the resorts fault” even though we know that Scottish southern electric will be compensating businesses affected is a very poor show. There was a wedding in a marquee on the resort which had to end at 530 as the hotel had no back up generators even though they are out in the back of beyond. Just very disappointed especially at a resort being completly cashless and not even prepared to offer soft drinks in 26 degree heat due to the fact the tills weren’t working and then to be told there would be no compensation for having the late afternoon and evening and then night of our stay without any elec or facilities is just very poor. We WILL NOT be returning!

Booked a three bedroom jacuzzi cottage, did not expect such a high quality holiday home! Big cottage with lots of space, immaculate throughout, fully kitted kitchen, very comfortable sofa (rare in holiday homes!). The fluffy towels, bathrobes, slippers are perfect for enjoying the jacuzzi. The cottages are well heated and have easy to understand heaters to find the perfect temperature and the property is so quiet and peaceful!

We didn’t booked an accessible cottage specifically, but our particular cottage was very easily accessed with flat ramped entrance right off parking directly outside. At the back there is one step down from the patio doors to the huge decking area. Internal doors are wide enough for standard wheelchair to pass through and the master bedroom has ample space for wheelchair access to the bed - it’s huge!. I didn’t try, but I believe the master bathroom would have enough space for a wheelchair to enter if needed, even though it’s not specifically an accessible cottage as far as I am aware, it was very accessible - perfect for wheelchair users with some mobility.

We had dinner in the restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The food quality is unbelievable, the service is quick and efficient. The restaurant is such a lovely space to enjoy, particularly at this time of year with a big Christmas tree for a centre piece. Children’s menus are available for little ones. The staff are all lovely and really add to the luxurious experience, they make a fantastic cocktail and delicious coffee too. The restaurant is very popular so I advise to book ahead. They also have take away options!

Trying to be constructive, I really struggle to find fault in anything so far. Perhaps a lamp or dimmer switch in the living room would be great improvement for a more chilled experience in the evening? I really can’t think of anything else!

Thank you so much Moness for such a wonderful stay!

The positives are that the staff are all lovely, especially the two young men in the restaurant and the food was pretty decent. The lounge area was nice for a pre-post dinner drink.

The beds in the cottage were very comfortable

What wasn’t quite so good was that the immersion system in our 2 bedroom cottage wasn’t working when we arrived. We reported this just before 8pm (we checked in at 4pm and were booked in for dinner at 6pm so didn’t realise this issue until quite late on).

Sadly, no maintenance could be carried out until the following morning. We bumped into the maintenance guy when we were about to take our dog out for a walk - he had gone to the wrong cottage for some reason! Just as well we bumped into him otherwise he’d have been fixing a system that wasn’t broken!

While we were out, I got a call to say the maintenance guy couldn’t fix the issue - it needed a plumber, which was being arranged.

To compensate for all the hassle we were offered dinner on the house that night which we enjoyed

We also asked for a late check out on the last morning as part of the compensation - this was accepted without question

On our final morning we discovered the toaster was not working and neither was the grill on the cooker (in fact, nothing on the cooker was working at all). So, cottage 71 (Islay) is a bit of a disaster zone as far as I can see - nothing works.

No hairdryer was provided in the cottage

That said, it was a good base for exploring nearby places and we would return if an offer/deal came up

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. I am so sorry to read about the issues which occurred during your stay with us. Our maintenance team work until 8pm - which I believe the hot water issue was reported just after. And then unfortunately, in human error the gentleman in our maintenance team got the cottages mixed up the following day. Islay_71 is one of our newly refurbished cottages, which everyone mostly enjoys, but trip switches and immersion heaters can act up. I am glad to read you were offered dinner and that you enjoyed your meal. I hope this made up for the issues that occurred and that they didn't take away from your stay with us too much. We hope to welcome you, your husband and pooch back in the future, and we can hopefully exceed all expectations. Piper, The Moness Team

We stayed for 6 nights and were charged the ridiculous rate of £80 for the dog. Might be dog friendly cottages but not wallet friendly.

We Regularly stay in self catering places with our dog and have never been charged so much! Prices for dogs are between £15 to £20 extra. We got a dog bowl and an outside hose to wash our dog down for £80.
Not impressed and would not recommend for other dog owners.

We booked Moness resort for a weekend away celebrating my parents 25th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay at the property as the cottage allocated to us looked nothing like the advertised images on booking.com. The cottages are extremely dated, run down and had a very musty smell to them. The only thing I can liken them to is a run down care home. We refused to stay after having travelled for 6 hours to get there and had to drive back to Glasgow to stay with family instead.

We requested a refund and were passed through 3 members of staff at reception, all in fairness were very polite and considerate, to be told that it had to be the general manager who authorised the refund. I emailed the manager the next day and am still waiting for a response from her. After calling reception and booking.com several times we were finally told we would receive a refund and booking.com even offered us compensation.

We didn’t see any of the 2/3 bed cottages or hotel rooms so can’t speak to them but if you want a comfortable and enjoyable stay somewhere avoid the one bed cottages at this property. They are in definite need of a full refurb.

Have visited Moness every year for a weekend for 10 years. Always have a good time but feel that things just are not the same.
Disappointing that there is no spa at the moment but that’s not the fault of the resort.
Pool area nice but there was no steam in the steam room!
Room was nice but there is a bright green emergency exit light inside the room which was on all night and the green led lit up the whole room and we had to cover this with a jacket. This has not been an issue for us in other hotels so is clearly not needed.
A major issue in the room was the lack of sockets. There was one double socket and the tv was plugged into one of those. The other sockets were strange round pinned sockets and more sockets are needed in this day and age.
Went to the bar for a drink and there is only one draft lager and not a known one and my partner didn’t really like it which meant we had only a couple of drinks in the resort. Even one of the staff members commented that they are selling beers that no one knows or wants.
Breakfast was decent if not a bit stingy. I asked for some scrambled eggs and mushrooms and got two small mushrooms. Used to be nicer bread but now just cheap bread.
Our evening meal was delicious however quite pricey for what we had.
On checking our bill when we got home we had been overcharged twice for drinks. The hotel was responsive to this and we received a prompt refund.
Staff very friendly and one girl very chatty and lovely but didn’t catch her name.
Unsure if we will return.

Thank you for taking the tine to leave us your review, we really appreciate and welcome any and all forms of feedback as we are continuously looking to improve the stay of our guests. I am sorry the layout of the room was not ideal for you and hope this did not take away from your stay too much. As for the draft lager we pride ourselves on supporting local business's with over 50% of the food and drink menu being locally sourced, although I do understand that customers choice may lead to the more common ones. I am glad to read that our staff were attentive and friendly, every individual at Moness is truly a asset to the team. We hope we can welcome you back to Moness in the future, and exceed all expectations. Piper, the Moness Team
