Detailed Reviews
My wife and I went for a midweek break for two days, which cost £364 for a top floor deluxe room, which was nice enough with a great view of the water from the large window, but it was quite dirty from the seagulls. Our holiday was let down by the breakfast, first morning we had the full English which was pretty average, next day we changed what we wanted I went for eggs benedict, my wife asked for 2 poached eggs on toast, not sourdough(they came on sourdough), and 3 out of the 4 eggs were hard. We waited for almost a hour and guests who came in after us were served before us and when we pointed this out to staff they said it depended on what was ordered, one of their meals was eggs benedict, there were only around eight people in the restaurant at the time so did not understand how it could take so long to basically poach 4 eggs at the end of the day and still get it wrong.

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. Staff were lovely and very friendly. It had just been reopened after a massive renovation which we didn't know but it was a nice surprise finding out we were the first guests there. Got a stunning upgrade on the room we had originally booked with a sea view as well. We knew they're would be teething issues with having just opened back up. Brought up a few issues that the staff were more than happy to take to feed back on and we weren't fussed by them. Our only big issue was that we weren't told that there was a function on on the Saturday night. The room we had been upgraded to was directly above this so we could hear every song that came on. If we knew we would have just stayed out later but we'd had a full day of exploring and then a late dinner so we could go back and relax in the hotel room.
It was all round a lovely stay but as someone that needs a solid sleep and was there to have a quiet stay outside the city it did put a bit of a damper on the mini holiday.

We were shocked to see the size of room offered. After a moan to staff we were Offered a different room a slightly bigger one. The staff and breakfast were fine but the frosted glass on window in room was like being caged in. Out second room was above the entrance to the kitchen and staff would meet there for a smoke and have music on. ( quite early ). You do need to address that. The only way you could see outside is by looking at the side of the window. The room was at rear of the Hotel. Top right hand window in photo was about 3 feet from my bed. Position of hotel is fine and free parking as well. Would we rebook.....NO

Wedding Party- Beautiful outside entrance and that's all.The food was atrocious. Starter was terrible - some cheap frozen prawns slapped on the plate with marie rose sauce. No choice so if you didn't like seafood then you were left with no starter. The main course was terrible - the vegetables inedible as they seemed to have been microwaved to death as they were rock solid, carots were like rubber.Chicken was very dry , portion like for my 6 years old son. Dessert- no choice, you could only get profiterole, absolutely horrible, defrosted , cream sour inside and soggy outside.
Overall, the communication, clarity and professionalism of the hotel was awful. We experienced deplorable service from the staff - not one spoke while serving, none showed any interest in time-keeping.The staff kept interaction to a minimum.
Evening service very chaotic. Staff rude and unprofessional. Be careful when ordering alcoholic drinks as they seem to be forgetting to add alcohol to soft drinks.
If you have booked hotel room with check in on the same day of the wedding be prepared for not being allowed into your room after wedding ceremony. We could not leave our bags in the room before ceremony and staff asked us to leave them next to staircase-a completely insecure place right in the middle of entrance hall where everyone had access to.
The overall impression was that this was a place out to make money out of wedding parties, not offer a good service. Look further and find a person centred venue.
I have to rate this place as the worst run in Scotland I have come across - pretty surroundings are not enough to create a special day. Not what you expect from this grade of hotel won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Thank you for your feedback. Our couples preselect a menu for their special day and advise of any dietary requirements in advance. We are sorry to hear seafood was not to your liking, we were unaware it did not suit any of the guests on the day. We only use locally sourced produce, and we are sorry to hear it did not meet your expectations on the day. Check-in is 3pm on the day of arrival and this is explained and confirmed in writing at the time of booking. Our housekeeping team work very hard to ensure the highest of standards are met within all our guests’ bedrooms and all bedroom are fully serviced and checked daily. The team are disappointed to read you were unhappy with the service as we strive to provide excellent customer service. Especially as the feedback following the wedding you attended was so positive. We are very sorry we did not meet your expectations and that we were unaware of how you felt during any part of your stay with us, if you would like to speak with us directly please do not hesitate to contact us on 01475 687200

Recently refurbished with excellent views. Staff all professional and friendly. Nice breakfast, hotel does not provide lunch and dinner. My main concern is that they have no ground floor bedrooms and no lift so if you have mobility issues this might not be the hotel for you.

Stayed with Family and had an amazing time, the staff were so friendly and the hotel is lovely, the wedding we attended had a great atmosphere and was the perfect size to accommodate the full party, I loved the fact we could sit outside in the terrace and relax during photo, it was one of my fav parts of the day and I normally find it boring waiting for dinner. The food I found amazing, we had steak pie and it was super tasty, love how they catered to my children's allergies with ease. Breakfast was lovely continental, we did need to wait about 15 minutes for hot food but that did not bother anyone as we were busy chatting about the evening before.
I would highly recommend, well done on the work you have done to change this place
Hope you enjoy reading my first of many reviews to come on trip advisor!

Came here for a wedding and gotten a room. The room was lovely and tidy, comfy bed and had things like a hair dryer, tea in the room, overall really happy with that.
The staff were also so friendly, Nathan, Eva and Emma were so accommodating to us all night/morning for breakfast.
The food was okay, a little bit low standard but was edible
overall enjoyed my experience at this hotel, despite only staying about 40 mins away it had a very holiday feel to it which was great

The hotel has recently been re-furbished to a good standard, the room was smallish but had everything you need (apart from coat hangers as we only had one!). The location is excellent right on the front and only minutes from the town centre. Breakfast was really enjoyable. The only disappointment was the bar being closed when we returned to the hotel after going out for a meal. It would appear to only open for events, possibly something they need to address.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting but don't book a room here unless you are attending a wedding. They will not allow you to buy a drink or sit in the terrace whilst they are hosting a wedding. Regardless of the fact you are a resident. Very disappointed to not be informed of this until after you have booked.
Breakfast order very slow too. Despite it not being busy we waited 40 mins to have it served. Then we had to ask again for tea.

Loved my 3 days in this hotel over the Viking Festival. Room was lovely, even though it was on the second floor, no lift. Staff did take my suitcase up for me and brought it down when checking out
All staff are very friendly, on reception, breakfast staff, lady who keeps reception area and ground floor spick and span, she helped when I had friends coming and needed to park at hotel.
I look forward to my next stay
