We chose a bottle of the well priced white wine at £12 and ordered lunch. I chose chilli nachos which came with chips and my wife ordered a pizza which also came with chips. Perhaps in the summer, an accompanying salad may have been a better option. Indeed, a salad offering in the menu would be a great addition. The nachos and chips were warm, big deal for us. The pizza was not as warm perhaps due to the quantum of cheese which could have impacted on the cooking as it wasn’t crispy.
That said, very good experience with our food served by very friendly staff. This place is recommended and we’ll be back though will give the pizza a miss.
Very enjoyable cooked breakfast and the bonus for us was being able to take our small dog into the room at night.
I would stay again.
Breakfast is very good indeed with a very good selection.
Hotel is just a ten minute walk into the center of town.
We had a lovely evening meal at the. Allegria Italian restaurant.
Nardinis for ice cream.
The bedrooms are of a high standard, and we appreciated being upgraded to the fourposter bedroom.
Thanks again
Inside it had a very much 70s look and I thought what am in in for.? but I need not have been remotely worried. The hotel had top line security externally and internally with fully compliant fire procedures which were well signposted and easy to follow.
The double room was of a decent size with adequate storage and good tv coverage. Heating was via older wide radiators but quite effectively warm. Excellent free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
The owner was very helpful and was hands on throughout .I suspect the hotel has suffered the same way many others have in terms of staffing through no fault of their own .
Dinner was very limited, (it was early March) as the restaurant was not operational, but some bar meal service was available.
The breakfast however was superb with everything freshly cooked after you order and is well worth the wee bit extra if you don’t have it as part of your package.( I did). Refills of coffee and tea as you wanted and cereal and fruit juices also.
The bar at this time of year ( woodies bar) was open at night when guests numbers were high enough but if you wanted a drink outside this time, that was no problem for the hotel. The bar was cosy and had a good feel about it with very helpful staff.
They say first impressions are the most important but take a wee breath and see what is behind the decor. It was immaculate in terms of cleaning , bedding and equipment and a credit to the owner and staff.
I would happily stay again, but hope for better weather!
I was too late for dinner but my friend thoroughly enjoyed her meal and said it was delicious. Breakfast was really good too.
I could not recommend this hotel highly enough...a little gem on the west coast of Scotland!
