The room was extremely spacious despite having a double bed, single z bed table two chairs and a two seater settee.
The. Bathroom was also large with a walk in shower, toilet and jet bath, in fact it was only slightly smaller than some rooms I have stayed in at other hotels. Views around the hotel are lovely looking out towards Arran across the water, with snow capped mountains as a backdrop.
It was impossible to single out any staff member as they all were extremely nice, friendly, efficient and helpful.
As usual the food was excellent at lunch, dinner and breakfast.
We were given a complimentary pass to the spa at their sister hotel that Gayle Hotel, Irvine about a 15 minute drive.
Again the staff here were excellent, the fitness centre was fresh vibrant recently refurbished. Although the changing rooms, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms were very tired the notices were up that they would be undergoing a major refurbishment in a couple of weeks, expected to take 6 weeks to complete.
If completed to their normal standards I am sure the will be well worth revisiting.
Although not getting the full details we looked over their wedding venue at the Waterside for friends son and it is a lovely outlook both in the service and dining area. A fellow guest stated they had been one the first couple’s married there 4 years ago and they sang its praises loudly.
If in the area this is well worth a visit.
The room and decor was very clean and fresh,The walls between the rooms offer little noise suppresion as we could listen clearly to the television in the room adjacant as we tried to sleep.
We had booked Breakfast for 9.30am and arrived at that time and were shown to our table about 9.31 , we then waited for 15 minutes to be attended to and had to call a waitress across to order breakfast , while we were waiting another couple arrived at the table next to us and had their order taken before us.as we waited for our breakfast which arrived 20 minutes later we could overhear a table behind us complaining to a waitress that they had been waiting 15 minutes and it had been that way for the last few days, the waitress reported this to a semior member of staff but she did not go over and speak to the customers at all.the couple at the table beside us who were served 1st had to request their toast which had not arrived, and when our breakfast arrived we had to ask for cutlery as we were given none.A table diagonal to us also had to ask someone for cutlery.
At no point did we hear any of the 5 or 6 staff serving if we or anyone else were ok and happy with our breakfast or wanted any more tea or coffee, They all seemed to purposefully avoid eye contact.
however the receptionist (carol ann?)was very pleasant as we checked out and asked about our stay .
We had previously stayed at a sister hotel "the old loans" troon and it was great , hence why we went here.
Overlooking Arran and almost touching the water the location of this place is stunning, direct access to the beach is strong attraction.
Last time we really enjoyed our experience in Si, the restaurant, sadly this time we have been left very disapointed, not by quality of food or the staff on the ground but by a terrible lack of management, breakfast service was poor, many guests had to ask several times where orders where, no orders taken or items missing from orders. We did raise this issue, the hotel did apoligise and we have left feeling satisfied, please don’t rule this place out but be ready to make a stand if you find yourself kept waiting to be served🥴. Must say thank you to Alyson, a staff member who made an effort when all around her crumbled
Our order was promptly taken, I had ribs & my wife had the fish cakes as starters with Tandoori chicken for me and battered haddock for my wife.
The food was excellent, meat fell off the ribs and the curry was nicely tangy. The fish dishes also got glowing reports.
Really glad we made the effort to go as we had been a little apprehensive but came away delighted.
Suffice to say we’ll return again soon.
We had a deal here for £315. It was a room for two nights with breakfast, a free 2 course meal one night and 20% of your second nights meal. There were two small bottles of prosecco a bag of tablet and a bag of kettle chips in the room when we arrived and we got complimentary use of the Thermal Suite and Gym at the nearby Gailes Hotel so we thought this was good value for money. There was plenty of parking available.
We were in room 311 and the view of the sea is party obstructed by a small tower probably the same for 310 so ask for west facing rooms but not these two.
The food was ok, with generous portions, but was more in the vein of an Harvester or Beefeater. The serving staff were friendly and pleasant and the food came quickly. I got the feeling that not much was cooked there except may be steak and burgers. The rest being catering supplies that were fried or heated before being assembled on the plate. Breakfasts were again OK probably not the best full Scottish I have had. There were plenty of other items you could help your self to. The lighter breakfasts were ok. The scrambled egg was freshly cooked.
Possibly a bugbear is the canned music everywhere which is a bit, "In your face torch song style". Maybe a gentler vibe, think Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega might be more in keeping. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Over all with the deal we got we thought this was value for money and had a good time
We ate in the restaurant on the first night off of the fixed menu, the food was well presented and tasty at the staff very efficient and friendly as were all the staff we encountered while there, we were lucky we choose a date just before the lockdown came in to force and had a very good couple of days here, well worth a visit.
I booked a sea view room for my daughter and myself for 5 nights . I saw pictures on the website of full length patio windows with beautiful unobstructed sea views - perfect . I was told we would have to move room for the last night - no hardship and the hotel had been recommended so thought ok .
Oh dear
Our room was such a disappointment - we had a small window which did face the sea but didn’t give the floor to ceiling views Id been expecting and the windows were stuck so even the staff had difficulty opening them . When you sat at the table for morning coffee you couldn’t see the sea at all !
Two days later my brother booked a standard room and to my shock his sea views were fab with floor to ceiling windows looking across the bay.
On our last night we had the type of room I was expecting . It’s was glorious.
I feel cheated and although I lodged a complaint at reception and was told it would be addressed it hasn’t been and hence this review
Staff were lovely and restaurant was ok but I couldn’t recommend this hotel as they don’t give you the room you pay for
So sad
