Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was here with two friends for afternoon tea. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable about the food. It was all delicious. We spent a lovely relaxing afternoon at The Old Inn. I will certainly will be returning. Also welcoming fire burning in reception adding to the atmosphere.

Our daughter bought my wife and I this as a gift. We stayed during the week. Excellent time. Great facilities, super professional staff and very good food. We had full access to the new Spa which I could easily get use to! Highly recommend a visit. If you are not local then definitely check-out Crawfordsburn country park and beach too.

Fabulous Gem of a Hotel, despite its size packs a serious punch with the large players in the Hotel game. Staff - 10/10 Food and Choice - 10/10 SPA and Thermal Suites - 10/10 Bar and Atmosphere- 10/10 From the minute we walked into the hotel the Staff couldnt do enough for us. The lady on reception walked us to our room and showed us around our luxurious upgrade. We had light lunch in the bar followed by 4 hours in the SPA area. Drinks delivered to our area within the thermal suites was quick and efficient. Evening Dinner in the Restaurant was sublime with choices that left our mouths watering. We had a few after drinks in the bar, while being entertained by live music from 9pm onwards. Our room was very comfortable with a 4 poster bed and all the amenities of a Top Class Hotel. Breakfast was off the charts with flavour and choice, again with super friendly staff waiting on our every needs. Well done The Old Inn and all the Staff, we cant wait to return for another unforgetable experience. Brendan and Michelle Collins.

Wouldn’t go back. Spa is overcrowded, too small, they let too many people in at a time, we had to wait and make a dash to use any of the facilities, we never got to use the one hot tub they have! Entertainment was also a joke, we gave up on waiting to use spa and headed for the bar to hear the live singer, he played a couple of songs and then sat at a table chatting to his mates, we just gave up and headed back to the bedroom. Bedroom was very small, even though we payed a bit extra for carriage room. Very expensive. Couldn’t fault breakfast, friendly staff and cleanliness though.

Amazing from start to finish! Just got home from an overnight stay at the hotel and I couldn't fault it. Staff are so friendly, food is delicious and the spa is out of this world. So relaxing and now can't wait to come back. Couldn't recommend this hotel more!

The stay started off great, very pleasant check in experience and room was nice (although smaller than it looked in the pictures). Went straight to the spa which is also a lot smaller than the pictures, so small that after an hour we were bored. There was one hot tub and everyone spent their time watching for people getting out of it so they could get in. Also the big pool had sections where the jets were not working. Cocktails were lovely, however they were £13.50 each, we were in the spa less than 3 hours and spent £70 on drinks. Dinner was a disaster, it was 20mins before anyone came near us to take a drinks order and after an hour we had to ask where our food was, we ordered mains only and two tables beside us had starters and main before we got ours, which was obviously forgotten about. Food was average at best, the burger was just a burger and chips on the plate, no attempt at a decent presentation, sirloin steak was the same. However, our waitress was lovely and did give us discount off the bill for the wait. Moved into the bar, nice bar and a good vibe, but again, expensive and very slow service. Breakfast was absolutely pathetic, the full cooked breakfast was half a plate of food and coffee was awful. This was definitely not worth £330 for bed and breakfast. It’s ridiculous that they charge the same rates as the Galgorm with less than a quarter of the facilities of the Galgorm. Although they followed suit with the Galgorm and over crowded the spa.

This was meant to be a £300 per night inn ? Who dreamt this up Changed little when I stayed in the 2005 when it was affordable. The rooms are small and no where near worth half the money. The food was shocking so expensive and pretentious. Had the fish and chips the fish was no bigger than a fish finger. Sadly the potatoe farmin has descended on this establishment I counted 9 small chips. What's going on here in a country that potatoes 🥔 are at its heart. This once great inn has lost its way or has corporate culture has finally found a place in County Down and taken over.

Have been to the old inn on many occasions and always had a lovely experience, however we were so disappointed on this occasion, sirloin steak £32, side order extra, vegetables extra, sauce extra, wine extortionate, the service was good but they gave us our bill while we were still having drinks, 2 x burger and chips and 1 x side of baby boiled potatoes, 2 x shandies, 2 x gin and tonics £92.00 Sorry but we will not be returning.

Good Afternoon 947endas, I am sorry to read your review, and the disappointment that you have experienced. Please see my response below which was also sent to your partner. Across the collection we have a three day cancellation policy, which is stated on all documentation that is sent to our guests prior to arrival, and stated on our website, so that all guests are aware at the time of booking. I am aware that you had tried to cancel within the cancellation policy and the team did give you alternatives such as moving the dates but you declined this offer. I am sorry to read that you thought are food was prepacked and refridgerated which I can assure you is not the case. I am also suprised to read that you feel the customer is always wrong as the team pride themselves on delivering a high level of customer service and always want to ensure the guests have a positive experience. We work closely with the Blue Book and our guests using the vouchers have nothing but positive comments about the hotel and the staff. I would have appreciated the opportunty to discuss any issues that you may have had on the time of check out but no complaints were raised throughout the duration of your stay. Of course I would be happy to discuss your feedback with you now if you could provide contact details to cmcclean@theoldinn.com Kind Regards, Charlotte McClean General Manager

Shabby, three day cancellation policy, overpriced, noisy, B and B. Where the customer is always wrong! Desperate to take your money and overcharge you for everything. Prepacked, refrigerated food with an overpriced wine list and water coffee! Nothing good to say about this place. Cannot believe The Irish Blue Book have them on their list!! Disgraceful, rip off hotel. We will NEVER return again and be avoiding GALGORM, FRATELLI BELFAST, PARISIAN BELFAST and RABBIT HOTEL. AVOID!!
