We stayed as a couple for one night, had a tasty evening meal along with a few cocktails and live music. Breakfast is first class also. Our first visit to this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is classy. Cleaning is obviously a priority as they were never done making sure everything was spotless and safe for guests. Honestly the best part of our stay was the staff. Extremely understanding and quick to resolve any issues. I was called by my first name throughout our stay which I thought was such a lovely touch. Two lovely ladies at reception when checking in and another two in morning when checking out. Thank you to Paul also.

We will be back.

Recently attended my son's wedding and we all enjoyed a highly memorable day. I was very impressed with the professional organization and the plush and luxurious setting and environment. The refurbishment of the hotel has enhanced the facilities to a new level. The very visible Covid regulations in operation helped everyone feel so relaxed and at ease in unprecedented times.

The staff were so friendly, courteous, helpful and methodical and are a credit to the hotel.

The cuisine was top class, very tasty and delicious with big portions and served so efficiently by a very happy and obliging staff.

Many of the wedding party and close family members stayed the night and found the accommodation to be top class as well. The guests were all so positive regarding the luxurious, comfortable and spacious rooms and the hearty and delicious breakfast. The family also stayed on for an enjoyable and beautiful lunch in the Austin Restaurant.

I would also like to acknowledge Gus for his professionalism, very genuine and caring nature and pleasant personality in dealing with my son and his bride to be in preparing for the wedding in such challenging and surreal times. He consistently kept in contact with them , updating the ever-changing regulations, providing them reassurance and valuable support and thankfully enabled them to experience the day of their life.

I would strongly recommend the Tullyglass hotel as a five star wedding venue.

Sincere thanks to a diligent Gus and his hard-working and pleasant staff.

On the 3rd January we had our wedding in the Tullyglass Hotel and words can’t do justice to describe how impressed we were with the level of service and the attention to detail. Unfortunately we had a bumpy journey to our special day, with a very last minute date change, due to my father falling seriously ill. Nothing was a bother to the hotel and staff and they helped us rearrange everything and were so understanding of our situation. We have no doubt that had we booked with any other hotel this would not have been the case.

The food was unbelievable and the portion sizes huge. I had so many guests commenting during and since the wedding that it was the best food they have ever received at a wedding and I have to agree. The breakfast the next morning was also brilliant!! That evening we shared a meal with friends from overseas in Austin's Bar, the food was first class and the cost was very reasonable. We cant wait to go back!

Our wedding celebration was stress free, as the staff made sure everything ran smoothly and even vendors commented it was rare for hotels to run the meal and dancing so well to time.

The rooms for all our guests were lovely. Every room is the standard of a bridal suite, so spacious and luxurious. My Granny felt like a queen in her four poster bed. We really can't thank Gus, Odhran and all the staff enough for making the whole weekend unforgettable.

Booked for a few nights away with our two young children.

Hotel room clean enough but basic

No lift so cases/pram/travel cot had to be hauled up stairs

Staff completely non communicative/ looked miserable- felt as if every small request was a burden

Absolutely no social distancing in the restaurant... booked in to the carvery in advance... must have been at least 200 people crammed in to the one dining room.

Had to join the queue out into the carpark for the carvery despite being residents of the hotel and having booked in advance!

Food just average

No one asked how our stay was... simply handed back the key and signed out with minimal conversation

As stated hotel clean enough but way overpriced/ not family friendly/ not accessible to wheelchair users or those unable to climb stairs. A place to stay but could have stayed in a b and b for much less and with better hospitality.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. I am extremely sorry to hear that your recent experience did not meet your expectations. The hotel was originally built as a country house and is a period property. This in part adds to the character and charm and is something we are very proud of, but I can certainly appreciate and understand your comments regarding having no lift in the building. To compensate we do operate a full-time concierge service and also have ground floor bedrooms, we certainly could have helped if you had made any issues known to us. Additionally, we feel the hotel is very reasonably priced and is probably one of the most competitive in the local area and we normally receive excellent reviews in this area. I am somewhat horrified to hear you have to queue up outside and I sincerely apologise for this, unfortunately with the new COVID-19 restrictions we do operate a queuing system but this certainly does not apply to residents, I have spoken to the team involved and any residents that made themselves known to reception were shown to their table promptly. With the new government Eat out To Help Out scheme the hotel has been relatively busy at the beginning of each week during the month of August but I would like to assure you that all necessary restrictions including dining numbers and table distance is being adhered to. I am pleased to hear that you found the overall cleanliness of the hotel to be of a high standard. Again please accept my sincerest apologies and I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Hotel soon to demonstrate as usual high standards.

We booked our wedding in this hotel in March 2020 for next year with owner Gus, we exchange few emails with Gus to arrange details of what is in our package and prices. We met Gus this evening to sign contract and pay deposit. Gus joined us at the table with contract which had staff we did not agreed to, charging us for hire of room even when he wrote in email that it will be free because we did not need the room for full day, he was also demanding exact numbers of guests for the wedding which NOBODY has 1 YEAR before the wedding, he said if we put 100 guests in contract and we only will have 95 guests he will charge us more per person. Seriously who does that. when we showed him his email about what we agreed to in March,he nearly called us liars and then just stood up and walked away like a spoiled child. Mr owner Gus as he called himself is unprofessional and made us feel worthless and humiliated!!!
Never will be back in this hotel and if Gus thinks this is the way to treat customers then I really can not recommend this place.

Dear Paul and Hanna, Many thanks for taking the time to post a review. I was extremely disappointed by your comments and I would like to take the time to address them. You initially came to see me five weeks prior to the Covid-19 lockdown for a quote for an evening reception as you are getting married abroad. I proceeded with this quote based on the minimum numbers provided along with the type of package you choose at that time. At the initial meeting I clearly stated that in order to formalise the booking a deposit would need to be paid and a contract signed, as per the hotel’s terms and conditions. I would like to clarify that at no point during the five weeks leading up to lockdown, during the three months of lockdown or subsequently the six weeks since the hotel has reopened did you contact me to pay this deposit and therefore confirm the booking. You requested to meet with me for a second time on the 18th August, almost five months from our original meeting. Thankfully the date originally discussed was still available. During this meeting I again asked for your minimum numbers and if you also wished to go with the original package discussed. At this point you reduced your minimum numbers and further altered the package. Based on the new information provided, a new competitive quote was given but unfortunately you were unhappy with this. I would like to confirm that the hotel does operate a minimum number pricing policy on all packages and this is clearly communicated by myself and the team at the time of booking and is also noted within the wedding brochure. Additionally, in reference to your comment: “Do you make the prices up”. I own and manage the property which involves setting competitive prices for products and services. I genuinely gave you the best price possible based on your requirements. I would like to add that I believe I was extremely courteous and professional throughout our meeting. The Covid-19 lockdown was an extremely worrying and uncertain time for all our Bride and Groom’s. The team has worked tirelessly with all our couples to change, alter and make new arrangements where necessary. All weddings that have taken place since reopening have been extremely happy with the product and service provided. I sincerely wish you all the very best for your wedding Regards, Gus McConville

Stayed here for one night from the 4th-5th of July 2022.

On arrival, the girl at reception did not give a warm welcome, very cold and didn’t really tell us much about the hotel at all. Simply said to us “your room number *** that’s upstairs” didn’t give us any directions and failed to inform us that there was no lift despite seeing us struggling with heavy suitcases.

It is like a maze trying to find your room so many steps and twists and turns . Please bare this in mind before staying here if you are in anyway mobility restricted or travelling with heavy luggage.

Rooms are slightly dated but very clean and comfortable.

I have to say the stay was completely made up by the wonderful staff in Mcallister’s Whiskey Lounge. The young girls with the dark hair working on the evening of 4th July 2022 deserve so much credit!! So so kind , hats off to the chef for delicious food also. It was my birthday and between the kitchen staff and servers they surprised me with a free birthday cake and candle.

Breakfast was decent , hot food lovely, only thing thought could be improved was that there was no fresh tea or coffee just a machine , when paying the price we did I thought we at least deserved fresh!!

On leaving the receptionist was lovely, asked how are stay was however there was cleaning in progress with a very wet floor and no wet floor sign. Health and safety hazard!

Overall though , I recommend this hotel

Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Firstly, please accept my sincerest apologies regarding the unsatisfactory level of service you experienced whilst checking into the hotel. I have brought this to the Reception Manager’s attention and as such we have just completed a new customer service training programme in the hope that we can prevent this from happening again. Thank you for your kind comments regarding your experience whilst dining in McAllister’s whiskey Lounge. I am so pleased to hear that the staff were so attentive and the quality of food was such a high standard. I am delighted to hear that you received a complimentary birthday surprise! I am also pleased to hear that overall you found the accommodation and breakfast to be of a satisfactory standard. We really hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Kind Regards Management

My partner booked here for birthday treat, room wasn't cheap but that doesn't bother us. Ordered prosecco to be in room on arrival as a surprise, not done. Was followed up to room by staff member carrying prosecco, asked him did he want to go infront of us, replied "no this is for you", surprise ruined.

We had a great day, staff in bar were absolutely excellent. Went to room in the evening to hear such loud music from a wedding below, vibrating through our room, impossible to hear TV. When I rang reception her response was "we are a wedding venue, what did you expect". Offered to move us at 9.45pm after being told we booked the last room available. Why put a couple there in the first place!! We didn't get silence until after 4.30 am.

Aired our views with management, who sent out a £50 carvery voucher to apologize for our ruined break away. Come on, we all know a carvery doesn't cost a hotel much. After spending over £300 for one night, the £50 gift voucher to stay again would have give the hotel a chance to redeem itself knowing we would spend a lot of money in their hotel. Manager said it was sufficient & apologised for us "getting no sleep". Not great customer service by these two members of staff, esp from management & will not recommend staying here unless you want to party.

We stayed here 2 nights as a family of 4 with young children.

It’s a stunning hotel, full of character, spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. The location is an excellent base for exploring as it’s 30 mins from the coast and 30 minutes from Belfast.

However there was a wedding party held on the 2nd night of our stay. The staff kept the function in another part of the hotel away from general residents which was good. Our problems started when the guests had an extremely rowdy after party in the room next door after the wedding, shouting, fighting, singing. We repeatedly rang reception and left messages. I got dressed at 4am and went seeking a night porter/security at reception to no avail. We have 2 young children and no one slept a wink.

I explained this in the morning at checkout and got the response, we’re sorry for your experience but we can’t control who stays in our hotel, more or less. The receptionist said the complaint would be forwarded to management.

Maybe they can’t control who stays but there should be a full time security/night porter on duty during functions to deal with issues.

We paid €220 a night and left frustrated and exhausted.

It’s a lovely hotel, great staff but issues like these need to be sorted.

Good afternoon Bluelillydee, Thank you kindly for taking the time to post your review. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience and disturbed sleep you experienced during your second night stay. This is entirely unacceptable. We have several night porters on every evening and I am horrified you were not able to locate a member of the team. I have informed the night manager and can confirm action has been taken to ensure this does not happen again. Again, I am extremely sorry and really do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel to demonstrate our usual high standards. Kind Regards, Tullyglass Management
