As our flight to Guernsey was delayed, we contacted the hotel via email to inform them of our late arrival. As our flight delay became longer and longer, Oscar on reception, asked us if we would like to order food to be cooked before the restaurant closed and then as the kitchen would be closed, asked if we would like sandwiches to be made and left for us. We eventually arrived after midnight (eight hours late). Michelle was so lovely and understanding as she got up to let us in and showed us to our room. This is the sort of personal service you just wouldn't get in a modern chain hotel. The hotel had a lot of character and is very clean and comfortable with daily maid service. The Breakfast is fresh and made to order. Plenty of off street parking. Good location for walking into St. Peter Port. We also made use of the snooker table in the basement. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here if/when we return to Guernsey.…

This hotel is a sprawling venue much like a rabbit warren with numerous rooms. The hotel in the main could do with an uplift although the breakfast room is much brighter. That said the family room was large enough and with comfortable beds. Dined in on the first night and were a tad taken aback with the size of the children’s portions which were large and with a salad, way too much for them. Food quality was reasonable. Just needs a revamp to bring back its sparkle.

Absolutely great staff who couldn’t have gone further to help. Nice clean rooms and a lovely breakfast. The only problem could be in really warm weather as there’s no air conditioning. I arrived late due to ATC meltdown but the manager sorted me out with a meal and the room set up - which Nectar hotels had failed to check with me. Brilliant service

This was our second visit to The Grange Lodge hotel. We love the relaxed ambiance of this hotel, the staff are lovely so friendly and welcoming. The bedrooms are large and comfortably furnished. Breakfast is very varied including full English or variations , cereals, fruit, yogurts, toast and pastries. Meals are in the bar and the selection is excellent, fresh fish, roasts, curry, crab salad and vegetarian alternative. The locals eat here often so it is important to book. The hotel is uphill out of St. Peter Port but it is on a bus route.

I stayed at The Grange Lodge Hotel with my daughter, her two children and another grand-daughter. We loved the building which has character. We had a family room plus a twin room, both rooms were large, comfortable and clean. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The pool was never too busy and the choice at breakfast was varied and plentiful. It's a pleasant walk into St Peter Port and a pleasure to find it has many unusual shops. Would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful hotel, although somewhat dated it was full of character. All the staff without exception were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable with everything we needed. A little noisy as we were on the front of the property. Never had a problem parking Decent cooked breakfast. Pub was very traditional with standard pub food. Pool was clean and fresh. Only one minor niggle was that the bar closed in the afternoons. It would have been nice after a hike up the hill to have a cool lager by the pool!

We spent 6 nights at this (supposedly) 3 star hotel and, having chosen it based upon its website & reviews, were hugely disappointed in the standard of our room and the service. My 'average' review is really being quite generous as several aspects were 'poor'. Beginning with the positives - the hotel’s in a convenient location for major bus routes and the downstairs areas were tastefully decorated in keeping with the period, historic building. It has quite a large, charming garden which, with some TLC, could be stunning. The bar had an entirely different feel - very much like a busy local pub - and it served great meals. The breakfast room had a delightful garden aspect, as did our room at the back, which was also quiet, away from road noise. Once in our room we faced a cramped space, which was tired & shabby with chipped paintwork, faded furnishings & curtains hanging off the rail - nothing like the website photos. The only way to open the window was to balance on a stool and stretch over the dressing table - only my husband was brave enough to attempt this. The chair was impossible to sit on or move as the TV on a wall bracket was in the way. Every morning and evening we crawled under the dressing table to use the electric socket for charging phones/ other devices. The bedding (see photos) was disgraceful - a fitted sheet which was too small and an old blanket as a mattress protector - this was never changed in 6 nights. The bed throw was faded and dirty. The bathroom, which at least was spacious, had a shower cubicle that was probably 20 years old with broken handles, sliding doors that didn’t close to each other & chrome flaking off. A plastic pedal bin that was completely broken was replaced on day 3. Breakfast food was fine but the service was diabolical. There was no consistent system: on each of the 6 mornings something slightly different happened. We, and other guests, were sometimes left ages waiting to place orders and wrong food was delivered. We also experienced unprofessional behaviour when, without any apology, a staff member interrupted a server who was in the middle of taking our order to deal with another issue. Why didn’t we complain ? In 7 days we never saw any staff (other than breakfast servers). Reception was never manned & we never encountered housekeeping. In contrast the 5 nights spent in Jersey in a 2-star hotel [in a similarly historic building] was far superior in every way - an immaculate room, professional service, a manager who spoke to us every day, and it was much cheaper!!! …

From the moment of arrival the staff were helpful and cheerful. This is an old hotel with history, but the rooms were modernised, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful and we chose to eat in the lounge bar each evening. There is an outdoor pool and two lounges if you need some peace and quiet. The hotel is set in nice gardens. Close to St. Peter Port, whether walking or catching several buses that pas the property. Recommended. If we return to Guernsey we would check for vacancies at this hotel first. Thanks to all the staff for a great holiday.

Great food at a good price. We drove past this hotel and saw that it was offering a bar menu so we checked them out online. There was a suggestion to book, and I am glad we did as it was certainly very busy. A great choice of food to suit all tastes and the prices are exceptionally reasonable.

It was very interesting to stay in this historic hotel that was the Nazi commander’s headquarters during the occupation. This was especially poignant since our stay happened just after Liberation Day celebrations. The hotel is a maze of rooms, corridors and stairways. At check in the receptionist walked with us to our room showing us the highlights of the hotel. Our room was very large and historically decorated. The room had 2 comfortable chairs, a large modern bathroom and an excellent bed. The breakfast room was a large, sunny room with windows overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was a full English, along with European pastries and cereals. It is located uphill from the city center – about a 15 to 20 minute walk. There are buses that travel in front of the hotel. It was a 20 minute walk from the port. Our only suggestion would be to ask for a room that faced the garden. Ours faced the street and there was some street noise. Otherwise we highly recommend this hotel. …
